It seems your little depressed gnome is fine with a swift death. He drives his own blade into the spine of the other man cutting through and slaying him with one swift motion. Again its one thing to kill a man, another to send him to be eaten alive by a monster -- who's the real monster.

Then he remembers who these men are and all the chances they might have had to not be such terrible men. He shrugs, "Oh well, everyone has to eat." He backs up and returns to the room where the men were and gives it a good rummaging through.

It took a few moments for the nothic to realize the group is providing the Redbrands as its food. The creature then telepathically says, "No eats. Red bring food. Trick." The one-eyed creature moves to attack.

"Can't say we didn't try," Sasha shrugs, flinging an eldritch blast at the creature. Killing it felt just, somehow.

Grogg isn't sure what is going on in the chaotic brains of his allies, failing to understand their motives or actions. All he is sure of is that the Nothic is going to eat them, and he objects to that happening.

He rushes forward, calling upon the raging power of his blood to smite this unnatural creature. It is an affront to nature, and must be slain.
Bonus Action: Cast 'Wrathful Smite'. If I manage to hit him within the next 1 minute, it deals an extra 1d6 psychic damage, and he needs to make a Wisdom Save or be Frightened.

Move: Well, move to the Nothic. I'm assuming there is enough space on the path for me to get to it.

Standard: Attack with my Scimitar. +5 to Hit, 1d6+3 Damage.
Rule Number 12: "A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head."

Lorenzo conjures a small ball of fire between his hands and then flings it at the enemy.

"What? But--"

Were it not for Grogg's charge, Arveene would have continued to stand there slack-jawed and take a swipe to the gut from one of the monster's clawed hands. She bolts toward the nearby cave pillar and says, "Sunny, hide! Watch out for its eye-blasts! Serpentine!" Wait. Were they blasts, or beams? Or does it cook you with heat waves, like the sun? Does she even know what she's saying?

She casts Faerie Fire just before ducking around the side of the pillar.
Move: take cover behind pillar, split movement to cast spell.
Standard: Faerie Fire on Nothic (2nd spell)
Bonus: Bardic Inspiration (see below)

Bardic Inspiration: unless Grogg still has my d6 from earlier, he gets this again. If Grogg still has Bardic, it goes to Sasha instead. Party: please feel free to add the d6 to buff your saves against magic or spell-likes.

("Serpentine": she's telling you guys to zig-zag. You may go ahead and RP your characters being baffled by this.

Heroes, Nothic
The quick reflexes of the trained agent, Sasha, sends a beam of crackling energy streaking towards the aberration. Her beam hits the creature dead center, but seemingly doesn't deter it's motives to attack those who sought to kill the ones who have been feeding it for the last several years.
Eldritch Blast vs nothic
d20+5=20 *crit*
dmg = 1d10+3 = 4+3= 7 force dmg
dmg (crit) = 1d10 = 2 force dmg
total dmg = 9 hp
Grogg focuses on his totem and quickly casts a spell upon the creature. Charging forward, the druid then slices with his scimitar. The druid can see fear in the eye of the nothic as his blade slices the skin of the creature.
Cast Wrathful Smite - Bonus Action, adds 1d6 psychic dmg
nothic's save (WIS) d20+0=9 vs 12 = *failed*
nothic is frightened

nothic has disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls while the source of its fear is within line of sight.

move to nothic

attack d20+5=18+5=23 *hit* man, these dice are hot
dmg = 1d6+3 = 3+3 = 6
Smite = 1d6 = 3
total dmg = 9 hp
The half elf weaves his hands together, speaks an arcane phrase, and a small ball of fire appears within his hands. Lifting his hands and indicating the target, the bolt files towards the nothic. The firebolt hits the shoulder of the creature, but does little damage.
Flamebolt
attack d20+5 = 19+5 = 24 (geez, too bad the dmg dice hasn't been this good)
dmg 1d10 = 1
Arveene casts the faerie fire spell behind the nothic, so that it's range (20 ft square) encompasses only the creature rather than everyone near it. While the creature wiggles a bit to avoid the light, it cannot avoid it. The aberration becomes covered in blue light bright enough to shed dim light for about ten feet.

Moving quickly to shield herself from the nothic, she begins a song of inspiration hoping to boost Grogg's moral and well-being.
let's assume you cast faerie fire before you get out of its line of sight
10 minutes has passed, it took you a bit to tie up and question the redbrands in the other room

nothic's Dex save throw
d20+3=13+3=16 (disadv, doesn't use)
d20+3=4+3=7 *failed*
nothic has faerie fire around it
nothic (frightened of Grogg, atks have adv) 45-9-9-1 = 26 hp

The gnome, clearly not named Sunny, sighs, "I knew this was a bad idea. Its always a bad idea." He can't attack the Nothic from here, nor does he wand to attack the thing with his dagger; that's just a little too close for him. So he switches from blade to bow and stays down out of the way, hidden behind the post as much as he can.
I'm unsure if the Redbrands are still part of the fight? I'm working on the assumption they are not. I don't see them in the initaitive. So, Stow, Draw, Hide. I'll move out and shoot next round.

If the redbrands are still alive, he'll stab stab stab them until dead instead

The Deep Gnome fires an arrow at the bound, beaten up, and drunk Redbrand knocking him unconscious alongside the three others.
move/attack/move

attack: d20+5=17 *hit*
dmg: d6+3 = 2+3 = 5 *unconscious*
nothic, heroes
The last remaining Redbrand sees his companions unconscious at his feet. Then he glances around and finds himself trapped. With no option remaining, he steps over his companion and tries to enter the crevasse in hopes to avoid dying today. As he steps over his friend, he trips and falls head-first down the 20 feet deep embankment. When his body reaches the bottom of the crevasse, it lays silent and motionless...
R1 move
Acrobatics check to slide down the edge of crevasse
d20+2=18+2=20
d20+2=2+2=4 *failed*

(still has disadvantage, not sobered up yet, hands tied, and beaten down a bit)

dmg: 2d6 = 5+6 = 11 *unconscious*
The nothic stands in fear of the half-orc. While the creature may not be the smartest being in the manor, its smart enough to know when to flee so it can survive. The creature takes off running across the bridge to the other side of the chamber.

As it turns, Grogg quickly slashes with his scimitar cutting it once more. The nothic moves down and quickly across the other bridge alongside Sasha. She then strikes at it with her longsword, cutting it once more. Meanwhile, Arveene stabs and pierces the nothic. The creature then runs out of the hidden entrance leaving a long bloody trail.
Double move, 60 ft (yep, I counted, 60 gets it just off the map there)

AOO: Grogg
d20+5=16+5=*hit*
dmg: 1d6+3 = 3+3 = 6

AOO: Sasha
d20+5=11+5=16 *hit*
1d8+3 = 4+3 = 7

AOO: Arveene
d20+4=17+5=22 *hit*
1d8+2=3+2 = 5
nothic (frightened of Grogg, atks have adv) 26-18 = 8 hp
Just as the company breathes a sigh of relief, a large, furry humanoid appears behind Lorenzo and says "What's all the noise! What's going on in here!"

Behind the bugbear are two other bugbears and a weakly looking goblin that looks like he's had a really bad day. The goblin is holding a bucket of water and rags. Each of the bugbears wields a large spiked club, called a morningstar. The door to the unsearched room is now opened leaving the group to assume they were in the barracks.

Sasha spins around and throws another Eldritch blast, this time at the first bugbear into the area.
