Complementing himself on the shot, Ryld snatches up his rapier and bounds out of cover to shank a chicken to gauge the effectiveness of the poison.
Sure thing. Let's test the poison roll for this demon ichor.

Remaining where she is, Morneth changes her grip, lashing out from a distance.
Let's switch to 2 handed and strike the close one.

As Morneth and Ryld tag-team the abyssal tasty chickens, Log'thar pauses so as not to barrel in and get in their way. They worked fine individually, but group tactics are still new for them. He doesn't relish the idea of getting his horse's feet tangled in chains, or taking an accidental rapier to the side. He waits to see how well their concerted strike goes before seeing if he needs to charge in to finish off the last of them.

Ryld sneaks out from behind the tree with his rapier coated with demon ichor. As his blade pierces the leathery hide of the abyssal chicken, the beast screams and two of its lower teeth (where a humanoid's canine teeth would be) enlarges to foot long tusks. After it screams, the creature dies leaving the newly formed tusks intact. As Ryld pulls his rapier out, he notices the ichor has been used.

Morneth steps forward with her chain sickle and attacks the chicken. The deadly precision of the attack severs the creature's head as it's body flops around on the ground.

As the others have swung their weapons and are recovering before being ready to strike again, Log'thar charges at the remaining chicken. This isn't exactly a noble charge against hopeless odds. It's more like squishing spiders that dare to invade the kitchen. Regardless, it's necessary so he might as well get it over.

Log'thar charges forward atop his nightmare steed. With a single slash of his sword, he slices the last remaining chicken into small chunks.

With the flock destroyed, the Modron flies around the carcasses and then re-positions itself in the back of the group. The Modron spent a few extra moments accessing the deformed chicken with giant tusks which appeared after being stabbed by Ryld. With the minor obstacle overcome, the group has a chance to collect some meat (one of the few eatable creatures in hell), if desired, and then continue onward.

"This is good for us, actually. The bones will make a nice broth when cooked in wine. I only have a bottle, but I can make it last."

Ryld sets to work collecting raw chicken meat and bones with the marrow still in, ignoring the poisoned corpse.

The paladin first cleans his sword and brushes down his horse before helping Ryld pluck and clean the chickens for transport. The nightmare beast may not actually need such care, it being magically summoned and all. But Log'thar takes care of his own, and that means spending time performing maintenance routines and assessing needs. Lack of order leads to recklessness and decay, and when he has to rely on things around him they will fail because of his shirking of responsibilities.

The group collects some meat and then marches onward. For a few hours or maybe one hour, it's difficult to ascertain the exact length of time, they continue towards the river. A bit later, they encounter another war machine.

After an inspection, Tome is able to visual piece together the mashed and destroyed parts to realize this would be called a Demon Grinder. The massive vehicle would have weighted nearly 12,000 lbs, could haul around 1 ton, and carry eight creatures of humanoid size. A large wrecking ball with chain is located within the wreckage along with numerous destroyed harpoons.

As the group looks at the vehicle, they find it's furnace along with what appears to be a large amount of demon ichor leaking from cracks. One piece attacked to the furnace appears to be a funnel which would allow someone to pour a substance directly into the furnace. Within the furnace, there are several rusted and spent soul coins which fueled the engine.

A Demon Grinder is a bulky, armored coach that rumbles loudly as it crushes obstacles and enemies in its path with the help of a swinging wrecking ball. Iron jaws are mounted on the front of the vehicle, which handles like a garbage truck.

Ryld admires the otherworldly transport, whistling. "Would be nice to find one of these intact. How about it? Think we could fix one up?" He surveys the surrounds for bodies.
Did the soul inside Ryld's soul coin once belong to anyone familiar to him? I assumed it did not, when we first got them.
