As the clones prepare to fire, Shoshanna tries reaching out with the Force into the panther's mind. Partly, she was hoping to find off a way to simply scare off the animal, but she also thought reading its memories might provide some useful intelligence.

Chapter 1A: Operation Shadowknife
"Defend yourselves," says Shoshanna. "I want to know what's going on here. And Giggles," she says to one of the clones, "pull back and keep watch for droids, Nitkos or other attackers."
As the clones prepare to fire, Shoshanna tries reaching out with the Force into the panther's mind. Partly, she was hoping to find off a way to simply scare off the animal, but she also thought reading its memories might provide some useful intelligence.

Chapter 1A: Operation Shadowknife
"Yes, sir." The Clones respond as they slowly step back and take defensive stances.
Shoshannah reaches out with the Force to attempt to understand the sludge panther. However, she is unable to read the thoughts of the creature.
Seeing the humanoids move away, the panther quickly moves to the Red Nikto corpse. Standing over it's body, the panther's head moves back and forth surveying the group as it continues to growl at the interlopers.

Shoshannah sighs and shrugs. "Fall back and let the panther have its meal. A fire fight out here will just ruin any chance we have left of surprising ... whoever is in there." She didn't really like the idea of leaving someone's body to be eaten, even that of an enemy, but it seemed the lesser of two evils in this situation. "Let's proceed cautiously and find our way in."

Chapter 1A: Operation Shadowknife
"Yes, Commander." Comes the simultaneous responses from the Clones. "Form up."
The group backs away from the panther and its meal making their way every closer to their destination. The rest of the way is uneventful, except for sightings of other creatures which they are successful in avoiding.
As they near the facility, the Clone Sergeant approaches the Jedi. "Commanders, we're about two hundred meters out from the facility." With their electrobinoculars, they can see the edges of the facility, but not its entirety due to the vegetation obscuring their view. There's no signs of movement or activity.
The group slowly progresses until both Jedi pause for a moment. Shoshannah feels someone else, besides the Padawan, near her is strong in the force. Padawan Plaba must have also felt it as he turns to look at Shoshannah. The Padawan shows some puzzlement and surprise in his expression.

Chapter 1A: Operation Shadowknife
Shoshannah frowns and whispers to Plaba, "It could be a Force Sensitive local, someone who was never found by the Jedi Council and either learned to use the Force on their own or as part of some non-Jedi tradition. But then there's the clear evidence we saw of someone using a lightsaber ... Maybe a Jedi on a secret ops mission command didn't know about?" She turns and whispers to the clones. "There could be another Jedi present here--or maybe some local non-Jedi Force user."

Chapter 1A: Operation Shadowknife
Padawan Plaba looks concerned. "I have a bad feeling about this," he says. "We need to see who it is and whether they are friend or not."
The Clone Troopers fan out to provide better angles for a shot, if needed. Together the group slowly moves forward. Ahead, on the opposite side of the facility they see two figures fighting. One appears to be another Red Nikto with a force pike. Opposing him is a human-looking male wearing dark, heavy clothing wielding a double-bladed purple lightsaber. He appears to be around the same age as Shohannah. The human male has several dark tattoos across his face and arms. From a distance, it appears the human has the advantage in the battle at the moment.
Shohannah has a feeling that, minus the tattoos and age, the human looks vaguely familiar, but she cannot completely recall where or when she might have encounter him or an image of him.
Padawan Plaba says, "He's not a Jedi that I know, but his form... I recognize those moves. Masters Windu and Bulq created the lightsaber style when when I was a youngling. It's called Vaapad, I believe."
Moving closer to Shoshannah, the padawan continues in a quieter voice saying, "In one of the classified reports, it said that Master Bulq left the Jedi when the Clone Wars began and joined Count Dooku."

Chapter 1A: Operation Shadowknife
Shoshannah let out a breath sharply. "So, a non-Jedi Force User with Jedi training." She looks at the situation. "Fighting a Jedi hunter." Part of her mind said that they should let the two of them fight it out and deal with whoever was left over. But her compassionate heart wouldn't let her. And there were more strategic reasons to not this go on.
She whispers to Plaba, "Just seeing these two is valuable intelligence. But it would be even better if we could question them." She turns to the clone sergeant. "Have the troops fan out through the bushes, so when we step out we can surround them. I want to try to get both to surrender so the Jedi Council can question them. I suspect they will resist, but we need to try." She adds. "The lightsaber-wielder is probably not one of ours, but someone trained by a rogue Jedi who went over to the Separatists. Don't treat him as an ally."

Chapter 1A: Operation Shadowknife
As the group fans out, the conflict between the two combatants ceases when the human's double-bladed lightsaber cuts the Red Nikto's pike in half with one strike of a blade. In the same sweeping motion, the other blade of the human's lightsaber takes advantage of the opening and slices into his opponent's torso defeating him.
The Red Nikto falls to his knees.
With a sigh, the human then severs the head of the fallen opponent. As the head rolls away from its torso, the human turns off his lightsaber and peers out into the jungle--towards Shohannah and Plaba. Like the Jedi, it appears he also feels the presence of others strong in the Force.
After taking a moment to catch his breath, he turns his back on the group and makes an amazing leap a few meters high to the top of the facility and begins to run in the opposite direction of the group across the facilities roof.

"Well, so much for that plan," mutters Shoshannah. "Let's search the Nitko's body to see what intelligence we can find on it. But keep an eye out for that rogue Force user as well." She emerges cautiously from the cover and, if it seems safe, heads over to the body to see if she can find anything that will tell her about the Morgukai's operations--or anything they know about the Force users working with the Separatists.

Chapter 1A: Operation Shadowknife
"Secure the perimeter." The Clone Sergeant orders the troopers.
The Clones provide cover as Shoshannah inspects the body. She finds nothing except for the basic clothing and the weapon--not even a single credit or personal belonging.
"All Clear." Come the replies of each of the Clone Troopers. With a perimeter around the facility, it appears to be safe to head inside for inspection.
Padawan Plaba stands over the corpse and muses, "I'm not sure if he did us a favor by killing this fellow or if we were witnesses to murder. Either way, I think we need to add him to our investigation while we're here." Glancing back to the facility, he says, "It's safe to go into the building now. I'll meet you inside."
Meanwhile, both Jedi still feel the presence of the other Force user. It feels like he hasn't went far.
