Chapter 2A: The Future of the Force

Shoshannah smiles at Hedala. "I don't really live anywhere--I travel from place to place, helping people. Mostly with agriculture and medicine. There are some dangerous animals in the jungle, but they're just that, animals." She looks up at the sky. "How many worlds are there? I don't think anyone knows since there are still parts of the galaxy that are not explored. And there many other people who use the Force--but we're small in number compared to how many people there are total, so it's not that common to encounter other Force sensitive people. Most of us who use the Force are like Manh and me and want to help people. But there are bad people who use the Force as well." She looks back at the girl to see if she understood Shoshannah's answers.

She guides the repulsorcraft into Manh's hiding spot. "Manh has a camp deeper in the jungle. We'll go there later. First we need to go some place to see if we can find a cure for all those sick people. Like I said, the jungle has dangerous animals in it. And there are also ... some crazy people who are also dangerous. And the place we're going has been destroyed and isn't very safe. So I need you to be very careful, to be quiet so we don't attract attention, and to do what I say without asking questions--at least for now. You can ask later. Can you do that for me?"

Hedala listens to Shoshannah and nods along with her answers. When asked to be quiet, she nods and responds with a simple, "Yep."

As the pair quietly move through the dense forested and jungle like area, they are surprised when a small reptilian predators jumps out of the brush. The creature is under a meter in length and walks on four clawed feet. Sharp spikes protrudes out its back from necks to the end of its tail.

Shoshannah calls out to Hedala, "Get back!" then draws her lightsaber and strikes. She wants to make sure the creature focuses on her, not the girl.

Shoshannah ignites her lightsaber and quickly strikes at the creature. The fast moving reptilian creature seemingly anticipated her attack and dodges out of the way.

Hedala heeds the Jedi's warning and moves back several steps keeping her distance from the creature.

Round 2: **Creature**, Heroes

As the aggressive creature's mouth opens, Shoshannah feels a pull on her limb towards the creature's mouth. As soon as her hand is near its mouth, it chomps down. The creature's sharp and many teeth pierce her flesh causing her to bleed..

Shoshannah grits her teeth and steps away from the creature, hoping the taste of her blood will keep it focused on her. She drops her lightsaber (she has a spare anyway) and draws her blaster pistol, preparing to fire.

Shoshannah quickly draws her pistol as she takes a few steps backwards away from the creature. With her pistol in hand, she fires at the creature, but misses it.

Meanwhile, Hedala also continues to keep her distance from the creature.

Round 3: **Creature**, Heroes

The reptilian creature rushes towards Shoshannah and leaps catching her forearm in its toothy jaws. Shoshannah violently shakes her arm and throws the creature back to the ground. The creature is unable to land on it's feet and instead falls prone on the jungle floor.

Round 3: Creature, **Heroes**

Shoshannah with a few bite marks on her arm and hand ...

Shoshannah takes the opportunity to continue backing away from the creature, putting more distance between herself and it, while firing another shot at it.

Shoshannah takes another steps back and pulls the trigger of her DC-17 hand blaster. Her shot penetrates the reptilian skin and scorches it's flesh. With the creature dead, Hedala walks back over to the Jedi's side.

"Are you okay?" She asks.

Shoshannah grits her teeth and puts her hand on her injured arm. "I could be better." She takes a deep breath and refocuses her attention on Hedala. "You were very smart and brave, staying out of harm's way, but not panicking."

She sits down and says, "Let me treat this wound and then we can be on our way." She takes out a stimpack and injects herself. Once she has completed that, she stands up and says, "We should be on our way."

Shoshannah takes a seat and wraps her wounds with her first aid kit. Once her wounds are wrapped, she picks up her gear and begins heading out towards her objective.

Several minutes later, they arrive at the destroyed facility. A crater twice as large as the facility and at least two to three meters deep lies where the facility was located. The durasteel walls and roof have melted and cooled to form a smooth concave surface.

When she spots a starship freighter flying low near the crater in the skies above her, she and Hedala take cover in the nearby trees.
