The Phelar University was a modest education facility located on the Outer Rim world of Eriadu and primarily financed by the most prestigious Eriadu families. One of those families, the Tarkins, has been all over the local news with the recent promotion of Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin to Moff of the Greater Seswenna sector.
The academic and archeologist Jerek Aernen had spent the last couple of years at Phelar University conducting research. Some of the university's previously planned excursions were cut due to the Clone Wars. Now that the war had mostly ended, many of those opportunities represented themselves.
Eager to get back out into the field, Jerek browsed over the new format of the opportunities. To him, it appeared the various universities of the galaxy had finally been organized and oversaw by a common galactic director. He considers that made more sense to be organized since his family's excursions sometimes overlapped those of other universities which he always considered was inefficient where one team's resources could have been better used elsewhere.
Of the various opportunities, one of the higher priorities was a collection of items identified as the "Bogan Collection." The items were formerly contained within archives on Coruscant. The summary states Separatists looted the archive during their attack on Coruscant. Afterwards when the Jedi betrayed the Republic, they looted the remaining items in hopes of destroying them and removing their importance from history. The items were dated back to the eras of the High Republic and Old Republic.
Over a dozen artifacts were listed as a part of the collection and the incentives to recover them were way above what he had ever seen for an archeology expedition. Even recovery of a single item would raise the status of Phelar University to one of the most prestigious universities in the galaxy, and also result in a hefty monetary infusion which could revitalize the department and allow for future expeditions.
Another opportunity was an excursion to Yavin 4 to research and discover any artifacts left by the now-extinct Massassi. Jerek had read about the giant stone temples built by the Massassi, but he hadn't done more than just cursory reading about the species or the planet.
While it pertained more to the geologists, a few opportunities with large montary awards was new discoveries of kyber crystals and doonium veins.
Lastly, another opportunity caught his eyes. The summary stated that the Separatists had decimated a species on Dathomir resulting in the potential loss of their entire history. An excursion to the remote planet might allow for recover of artifacts to preserve their history.
