MYZ: The Zone

How did the world end? Some Stalkers and other braggarts say they know what happened. That a great plague swept the world and killed everyone. That the bosses of the Old Age fired their weapons of mass destruction at each other and drowned the world in flames. That the gods among the stars, the Ancients’ overlords, had enough of mankind’s hubris and decided to end it all in fire and brimstone. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s just lies and tall tales. The truth is, no one knows for sure. Except maybe the Elder. And he refuses to talk about it. We learned as children not to ask, he would curse and rave at us every time the subject came up. But I’ve heard him mumble in his sleep. He said that the Ancients ended themselves.

Kwine takes a glance at the haul. "Em will know. She can read the writing better than any of us," he says. "I'd make sure you get the books to Em the minute we get back to the Ark. You can give Sonya the dress afterwards. It won't fit her, but she likes her trinkets. But don't even talk with her until you reach the Chroniclers and the Dawn Vault first." Kwine doesn't say why, but he presumes everyone has their suspicions about the enigmatic boss.

"Has anyone seen Arkhod recently?"

Mart looks around him. "Follow the noise?"
Do we do our recovery now like we said in the OOC thread?

As if on queue there are a series of metal crashes, followed by the sound of glass shards shattering on stone a distance away. Muffled by the high metal shelves you're not sure exactly how far into the large supermarket they came from, but the accompanying shouts (instantly recognisable as Arkod) lead you to the conclusion that the enforcer has found something, either something of interest or something dangerous. Either way, you feel obliged to investigate as a matter of urgency.

The scout checks his rifle on the run, making sure a precious bullet is properly in the chamber and ready to fire. As much as he doesn't personally like Arkod, he still values a member of his community far more than mere equipment. "Come on, team! Let's go!"

Hearing the commotion, Kwine makes his way with the other members of the scouting party. Muttering something under his breath about Arkhod's impatience he checks his pistol to make sure it has a bullet loaded and ready to go if need be.

Following the sound of Arkod's shouts and the echoing of clattering metal and glass, you come around the end of one of the many aisles in the supermarkets cavernous interior to find the brute being swarmed by a group of shambling figures.

Arkod has a large sack slung over one large shoulder while he wields his scrap blade with the other hand, warding off a group of at least a dozen short, rag covered figures, clawing at him with grasping hands. They all wear a patchwork of ragged clothing, cloaks, hoods, masks and gloves concealing most of their skin, but from this you assume they are Zone-Ghouls, a race of people the Ark speaks of with great fear.
Apologies for the delay in posting, work and family health issues have led to me slipping behind on many things.

If you can all roll for Initiative on Roll20 please.

Danny is out of breath as he runs up, his injuries still very pressing and painful. He checks, finding he has 2 bullets left to fire, hoping it will be enough to get them through this latest spot of trouble.
With our damage still present, there's no way we could take on a dozen of these guys. So either we try to intimidate them off, or just rescue Arkod and then run the hell away.

Mart charges at the group with his stick in the hopes of drawing the swarm of ghouls to him.
Initiative 4. I'll be charging and attacking to distract them when my turn comes, and making use of Shake Off when I'm inevitably mobbed.

Seeing the swarm surrounding Arkhod, Kwine thinks to himself, 'This guy can never just stay with the rest of the group. That's why he's always surrounded.' Taking his pistol, the gearhead steadies himself and looks to target if any of the ghouls are injured, before squeezing off a round.
Initiative 9. Kwine will take an action to aim, and then fire a shot. Priority will be on anyone visibly injured. I'll roll the result once initiative order is determined.
