TOR2: Gathering the Fellowship
Oi! Oi!
I'm thinking about playing a hobbit of the Shire, with messenger-calling. Not a fighter but who hopefully can contribute in other ways along the journey. As a patron both Gandalf or Bilbo would be suitable for this character, but Tom Bombadill would also be a good fit. But, I'm open to all patrons of course.
The character works for the Shire Postal Service and take the long range deliveries that the other mailmen are too comfortable to make. Mostly between the farthings, but occasionally all the way to Bree or maybe even a stint down south to Tharbad.

Are we going to be using the 1st or 2nd Edition rulebooks? I need to look into getting the rulebook (otherwise rather hard to create a character), and need to know which version to pursue.
Rule Number 12: "A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head."

We will be using 2nd edition. It's not too different from what I've been told. I'll get you a link to it in the morning.

TOR2: Gathering the Fellowship
I'm 100% in the anti-Bombadil camp. I would prefer Bilbo or Gilraen. Someone who provides Fellowship Points. I noticed the mechanics for that require everybody to sign off on using one. That might slow us down.
Made the dwarf champion. I converted him from 5e, and on the trinkets table in the 5e rules I rolled the empty vial that smells of perfume. I made him low in Heart but high Wits and gave him a decent Craft score. My thoughts are that this could be a tradesman, and I'd like to keep the vial as a memento, playing with the idea that this is someone who has known loss, maybe recently. He might be traveling to Tharbad with his son, so if I get to build on that, could we consider him a decent metalworker, if not a maker of weapons and armor?

Nice!
I also am not a fan of Bombadil really, but i have no strong opinions on the patron. Both Bilbo and Gilraen sounds fine to me.
I made my character very low in strength but pretty strong in both heart and wits. Skill-wise she's a bit of this and that but not really a master in anything (yet).

TOR2: Gathering the Fellowship
Oops, posted my ‘hello’ elsewhere.
Hope there’s space for me to join.
If you already have a hobbit and a dwarf, then might I play an elf?
What a curious group.

Re: TOR2: Gathering the Fellowship
Middle-Earth is full of curious fellowships.. An elf would be fine with me.
Depending on your Patron we can figure out how you all met (or meet) and why you've been chosen.

Thx.
I’ll dig out my book and get my head into it this weekend.

Re: TOR2: Gathering the Fellowship
In previous Tor games, I've played an elf (of Mirkwood), a human (a Ranger of the North), and a hobbit, so I think I'll go for a dwarf this time. For Calling, I think I'll go with Captain.
As for a patron, I don't have strong feelings, but Gilraen seems like an interesting choice.
