Prelude: The Simple Man

After the Alien attack in 2023, many of the world'€™s governments were in ruins. Few of them with the resources to defend against, let alone counter, the first attack made by the superior race.

In February of 2024, a new defense force emerged from the USA to defend the earth as we know it; Alien Terror Control. ATC, being funded by the US Government, receives access to the top of the line weapons, planes, research, and personal.

ATC's mission is to protect the US and stop the Aliens at their roots. Beware, more then just Aliens work against ATC and threats from the inside are worse then the out.

The world'€™s fate is in ATC's hands, Your Hands. Will you fight against the Alien race in defending your home planet? Or will you join with them out of Greed and Power Mongering? The choice is yours.

Prelude: The Simple Man

Post by Shinling » Sat Dec 06, 2008 11:20 pm

Jon was always the simple kind of kid... err.. man... well, that would depend on what you would concider the two as. Jon worked two jobs to support his basic life and dreams of a college degree. Still... he would never have expected this to happen, and probably wouldn't have come to see is highshool friend in East Flatbush.

When the attact hit, Jon was sitting on his friends porch remembering the days of highshool and enjoying a beer... One hour later, it feel as if the world had dissapiered, his friend in cluded. The busy city turn suddenly into a ghost town and he turly had no idea how he survived.

Now, 4 weeks later, Jon sits in Telfer Restaurant Bakery. When you found this place 3 days prior, it had minor supplys in it to use... food, water. Sitting at one of the dusty tables you take stock of remaining supplies... one 4oz bag of corn chips, 3 cans of raviolies, 3 cans of pinto beans, a loaf of hard french bread (not moldy), 2 letter soda bottle filled with water, 1 can of mountin dew... This should last a few more days, you think to your self as your belly rumbles...

The food is thin and the water is going to run out short. There is no way that staying put and starving to death would be an option anyone would choose, and the fast death of being caught by one of the terror squads would be better than that. Pulling together the limited supplies Jon eats several large handfuls of the bread and chokes it down with some water. Putting the rest into a backpack he checks the outside window and ducks out into the street, "Time to find the next best thing."

turning to the left when you leave the door, you find your self heading west. The turned and crashed cars still line the strees of the city many of the cars are under a pile of rubble, a former building.

As you come to the next intersection (Utica and Linden), you hear a yelp, as if a dog was hit by something. You have seen a wondering half starved dog in the area. You decide to investigate, your head peeks out slightly around the corner, sure enough, 100 feet down the way on top of a small pile of rubble is that same dog... chewing on something... possibly furry.

the dog seems to look up at something.. someone. From what you can see from behind the corner, the dog is being coxed to one of the doors by a... human.

You watch as the dog returns into the street followed by a.. human. He looks well armed.. or more armed then you are currently as he has a shot gun over his shoulder.

{ooc: sorry I forgot to check the thread and didn't get an email alert}

Cursing himself for missing the chance to snag the dog himself and perhaps gain a few more days worth of food, Jon moves down towards the door. Stepping as carefully as he is able he edges his way, fearful that whoever called the dog may have other ideas about company.

You managed to move a half a block down the street un-noticed by the two crazy's you just incountered. Going with the better side of safty, you remain hidden from the two as they head north, where you came form.

Leaving the two men behind only helps to remind Jon of two threats that face him in this new world. Beyond the idea of whatever the alien threat is, the idea that one of his own could turn insane and shoot him for not bowing to his dog is scary enough but then the idea that it could just as easily be him holding the gun and yelling old english obscenities. Perhaps the best thing is to just keep moving, keep a purpose and stick to it. Today is food, find something to eat and keep for later, perhaps tomorrow will be to find a weapon. He always meant to buy a gun, too bad it had to come to this before he actively went out to find one.
