He might be referring to whether you're doing Iron Kingdoms Full Metal Fantasy or Iron Kingdoms Unleashed (basically Hordes counterpart of the Iron Kingdoms RPG).

Oh in that case this is an old Adventure Path from the time IK was a d20 setting. The Full Metal Fantasy is an upgraded version of that setting with another set of rules. So we are playing FMF in some aspects.
But it is not SciFi. It's Steampunk.
