Dark Times - You are the hunted. Darth Sidious, Darth Vadar, inquisitors, Stormtroopers, etc. will be chasing you. Resources are scarce and you need to stay hidden.
High Republic - You are the hunter. This era is ~200 years before Dark Times. Thousands of Jedi. You walk and travel in open. You'll be chasing down bad guys, rather than being chased. A lot more galactic and Jedi resources are available to you.
