Haxtes checks his Auspex for any readings, and if it does not yield any information, he starts by using his servo claw to cut one of the veins. He also readies his flamer.

Keeping away from the cleansing flame, of course, Damien works himself to the center of the room, facing the cylindrical barrier. He holds the Staff firmly in both hands, feeling around the room for an understanding as to what is happening here.

Renik gags as the acolytes enter the room, the presence of something awful sickening him.

He draws his blade and looks around for signs of movement among the pulsing, veiny corrupt flesh.

Draw mono-knife and search for other life forms.

Daemons Round 1

Post by Vardaen » Wed Jan 29, 2020 6:19 pm

Out comes the flamer, and Haxtes spits off a gout that rolls around the cylindrical barrier burning away muck and pulsing veins of something foul. The flames burn away small portions of goo, even as Damien reaches out. The Psyker grabs at his head as his senses are overwhelmed as he drops to his knees clutching at his head -- a thousands screams of pain echoing through his mind!

Haxtes lets up on the promethum flow for a moment as the lights in the chamber flicker on a sickly green for a split second. No, no those weren't the lamps, those were pockets on the demonic veins that up and down the chamber. Then one of the pockets grows brighter, stronger, and then bursts open with a force that shocks you. From it leaps a foul pink creature. More and more burst out. Rolling, twisting, twitching masses of iridescent flesh and fire, these Horrors serve their master with the powers of change and sorcery. Their many mouths scream and gibber, and their shifting, clawed hands twitch with incantations.

A half dozen them appear for now.
Its something like this, with a case around the reactor core. The power is currently OFF.

Daemonic Presence: All creatures within 20 meters (everyone) takes a -10 penality to Willpower Tests

Fear 2 -10 penality

WP Tests @ -20 Each

Fear 2 / Daemonic Pres: -20
Aesgir: WP 7 vs 11 Success! (LUCKY)

Damien: WP 67 vs 42 - Re-Roll Unshakable Faith 96 Fail. Fail by 2 Degrees: 47 Reeling with shock, the character backs away from the thing that confronts them. The character cannot willingly approach the object of his fear, but may otherwise act normally, with a –10 penalty on all Tests until the end of the encounter. The character gains 1 Insanity Point.

Haxtes: Rite of Pure Thought, Immune to Fear

Mercia (Pure Faith Imm Daemonic Pres): Spend 1 Fate to ignore Fear. 4

Renik: 04 vs 10 Success (LUCKY)
As the warp daemons leap out of the immaterium from around the chamber it would drive a normal man mad. Luckily you aren't normal men, or women. Only Damien, so in touch with the warp, that is driven mad from it. He remains on his knees clutching his head as the screams of the creatures fill him with fear and threaten to corrupt his soul.

Haxtes, emotionlessly leads the attack...

WIth a techpriest litany, Haxtes sends more flaming promethium at the demons.
"With heat and iron and industry we shall purge you from this world - we will cancel your existence with the fire that we hurl!"
Shoot Destroyer Cadence Promethium flamer at the maximum number of demons without endangering allies. "Cleansy and Purify" Talent -20 on their AG roll.

Despite the horror of the daemon's sudden appearance Renik manages to keep his mind and react to what is happening.

"Dirty pink dastards!" He shouts before firing a shot from his hand cannon at the closest one.

Actions: Single Shot with Hand Cannon.. BS 55 +/- range etc..

Damien, having opened his mind to the Immaterium, reels in shock at the erupting Daemons. His Psychic Hood glows brightly and begins smoking slightly, its protective capacity clearly overloaded. But even then, the psyker is a warrior against the darkness. He does not run away, even though his mind and body shake while he acts.

Irony of ironies, he has the ability to strengthen others against fear, but cannot do so for himself. He can only fight the darkness, however much it costs him. Given his staggered nature, he falls back upon the oldest fighting trick he has, one he learned as a freshly-minted combat psyker - Spasm!
Cast 'Spasm'. Full 5d10+8 Casting (TN 7 -> every 5 Overbleed adds another Target, or makes Willpower Test more difficult). Priority is maximum targets, then increased difficulty.

I told Haxtes to burn away the growth. As he began, Damien winced in pain and fell to one knee, and before I could make a cut with my arming sword, the demons burst from a sickly cloud with a shockwave. Masses of pink screeching mouths made arcane gestures with their clawed fingers to put a curse on us. The recent joiners responded tenaciously and fired back, and if our machine-human was affected, I couldn't sense it (he turned his promethium weapon on the enemy). Damien staggered, and I believe his connection to the Warp takes the blame. For my part, I screamed back at them and clung tight to fury, and greeted them with a boltshell and blessed fire.
Merica levels her weapon at the nearest pink daemon and yells as she aims down the sight, "Feel the wrath of the Golden Throne, daemon trash!"
Select Inferno shells for the boltgun, aim+shoot Renik's target (semi-auto, recoil glove).

@Grimbold boltgun, Mars boltgun...

Daemons in the Machine: Round 1-2

Post by Vardaen » Fri Jan 31, 2020 7:00 pm

Round 1 Haxtes13, Damien 13, Renik 12, Merica 10, Daemons 7, Aesgir 6

FYI the Subject line thing is fixed so you Editor or Submit (not Post Reply)
Haxtes continues to fire, the promethium of his weapon engulfs three of the daemons. The screaming is only half as bad as the smell. Two of the things are caught up in the middle of the fire, one leaps clear, and those two are burned badly, their pink turning bar-be-cue red. They manage to hold tight and alive for the moment.

Damien, trying to recover, reaches out from under the strain and causes three of the pink devils to topple over shaking and spasming all about on the ground for a few critical moments. That's when Renik puts a shot into the belly of one of them with his hand canon. The wound isn't nearly as strong as one would hope, these warp daemons seem to resist normal bullets.

Merican joins the fire, and her bolter blows off a hunk of shoulder of the same one Renik hit. It remains on the ground spasming and bleeding now, as on the edge as the burnt two.

That's when the daemons leap to attack. Haxtes comes under assault by three of them from all sides, and he's badly hit by two. Their warp claws penetrate through his armor into his innards and cause major damage to his organs and machine parts inside him torso. Leaking he starts to go pale. Yet he avoids one of the attacks, and that things connection to the warp is broken, it shimmers and vanishes sucked back into the portal that spawned it! That's one less.

The spasming ones manage to get to their feed and close the gap on Merica, and Damien. As the one leaps near the Sister of Battle the unstable connection it has to the war needs blood, and it hasn't brought any, so it too is sucked back into the warp from where it came! Two down.

Renik comes under attack, but for the moment he avoids its claws and teeth.

Aesgir, a moment before the rest of the company...
