Just as Jericus mentions one survivor a figure bolts out of the opening the plug. It is Ratz, the man that the Acolytes found holed up in the Shatter's Office area. The man comes racing out of the gap out into the light and starts howling in excitment at reaching the surface unharmed. The whole way back up tot he surface he followed the Acolytes but barely spoke, you almost forgot he was there as he skulked behind you. Now that the group is out and some distance from the seal on their way toward camp he has busted free and is running wildly across the yard.

A half dozen laser scopes suddenly land on his back. A guardsman is shouting, "Hold! Hold right there!" The man Ratz in all his glee isn't listening, and isn't stopping. "Stop right now or we will shoot!"

The man jumps into the air, "Ratz free! No more darkness!"

"Damn it! We said halt!"

Five more steps into the barren and empty lands around the mind entrance and an ich trigger figured guard squeezes off a shot. The moment the first shot is fired, a volley of bullets rains down on the poor man. *Badda-badda-badda* The rifles of the guardsmen unload on, what they figure is a mutant, and Ratz, having survived for a week hidden from the Mutants in the Shatters is gun down in coldblood by the Imperial Guardsmen. His broken and bloody body skids to a halt fifty feet from the mine entrance, shot in the back a dozen times.

Jurtz turns his head and looks away from the grizzle scene.

"What are you doing? You fracking morons!" Ishmael draws his hand canon in anger. "Give me your identifications! The Inquisitor's justice shall not be as swift as you like!" Ishmael keeps walking forward, if they shoot him, his theory of their fear of the inquisition will have been terribly wrong.

Jericus walks beside Ishmael, data-slate in hand, taking down the information that the other man gets. He puts on his best 'judgmental bureaucrat' look as he does so. As much as these men are hardened guardsmen, everyone has some fear of the Administratum.

Xanthia starts walking several steps behind the Ishmael and Jericus. Then the whole thing with Ratz breaks out. As he is gunned down, a sneer crosses her features.

Serves him right for not listening.

Her attentions are then turned to the guardmen when Ishmael delivers his ultimatum. Her hands go to sword and pistol, ready to draw them at a moment's notice.

Mir revently places Iorgo's body onto the dead earth at his feet before looking at the offending guardsmen. He stands now ready to draw at the slightest provocation. His emotions on edge, rage brewing in his heart. Suddenly his booming voice erupts, "NO MORE DEATH! LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS, ALL OF YOU. TOO MANY HAVE DIED ALREADY. I WISH TO ADD NO MORE TO THOSE NUMBERS THIS DAY". The blood covering the man giving credence to his words...

The Gaurdsmen stop firing when Ratz is laying there dead, rittled with bullets. The look over at Ishamel first but then at the screaming Mir. One of them braves a voice, "Our orders are to shoot anything that comes out of the mines that wasn't you. No offense, but I ain't about to disobay the Commandant just because that thing might not have been a mutant." The guards are lowering their guns, as the threat is dead anyhow.

"Close it up!" Someone whistles at the animal handlers to get the seal closed back up to prevent anyone else from entering or exiting. The process will take another thirty minutes to seal the mines completely.

If Jericus still wants to record their names they gladly give them, rank, and serial numbers. They are proud to say they fullfilled their duty. "If he was with you, why didn't he listen? Why didn't he stop?" Clearly they don't care about one more dead miner, if it wasn't for these miners they wouldn't even have to be on this rock getting themselves killed.

Mir now convinced that there will be no more trouble from the other guardsmen. Drops to a knee and hoist the body of Iorgo back up and over his shoulder as carefully as he can. He stands struggling with the effort but stands none the less. To himself he thinks about the commandant and what is to come...

Ishmael just sighs, lets go of his weapon, and continues to walk. "Come on, let us get his over with," he says finally, moving toward where the Commandant can be found.

Jericus records the men's names, as much to provide an accurate report than in any effort to cow them. He also makes sure to record Ratz's name. At least he will live on in the report - scant comfort to the dead man, he knows. Then, with a silent shake of his head, the scribe turns and follows the others to the commandant's office

Jurtz looks away when the man Ratz is killed by hsi fellows, "No sign of my friend then?" He is walking along with the group curious if you found his friend Hastus. "His poor girl...she's a nice looking girl you know, waiting for him back home."
