Edge of Darkness - End Game

Post by Vardaen » Fri Dec 04, 2009 9:51 pm

The group begins to make their way to the rail station that they came in on. As you move you can feel chaos pressing down on you from all around. There are riots in the streets, people looting and fighting, others cowering and attempting to hide. You spot a dozen more hab blocks spread out all over the district that are burning with poisonous green smoke. The Logicians have slashed and burned everything in their attempts to cover their tracks and escape the Inquisition's attention. You find none of the local law enforcment anyplace to be seen.

Arriving at the rail station you find you'll have to wait a bit for the next scheduled train to arrive so you hunker down in one of the station houses. A make shift barricade on the door, autocarbines poked out the windows, you sit and wait, while the entire district burns down around you. A handfull of scum and hivers fleeing the chaos comes running up to the platform also seeking exit. Before the tram arrives three of them are dead, the results of the poison fumes they've injested.

An hour of waiting, of pushing people back out of the building, of a few shots sent into the air to keep the scum away from you the tram finally arrives. As one unit you move from the building to the train, and soon the rail is racing down the tracks *ca-thunk* *ca-thunk* the rhythm train lulls you into a state of calm as the hive swallows you up in darkness.

*** Some Time Later, Before Sand ***
The room inside has a jumble of dusty metal crates (branded with unintelligible symbols) stacked against one wall, while a hospital gurney complete with restraint straps has been left toppled over on one side against the other. The room's most striking feature is a wide mirror which fills the upper half of the opposite wall from the entrance. The mirror will slowly clear to transparency to reveal a glittering steel chamber beyond. Inside the chamber looking out is a tall, thin-faced figure wearing white medicae robes with (rather incongruously) a red leather coat draped over his shoulders. Behind him, covered by a mottled grey sheet, is what looks like a body on some sort of frame raised upright for inspection. While above them in the air, a pair of white enamelled skulls, encrusted with a variety of brass instruments and long hypo needles, hover expectantly.
You don't know how long its been since you returned; hours, perhaps a day or so, but the horrors of Corcarla District are long behind you. You arrived safely back in the Administratum Districts and have been throughly checked over for contamination and have been debrefed for hours on the matter, both seperately and in small groups. Your wounds have been tended too, atleast enough to not put anyone of you in danger from dieing from them. You find yourselves finally standing in that small chamber where you first met Sand, looking through the glass barrier at the Interrogator, on his table is a small sample of some of the things you brought back with you taken from you some time ago.

Outside the chamber two more servo skull stand guard against your leaving. Through the Vox box on the viwing window Sand's voice pipes into your chamber broken and scratcy, "Well, you haven't preformed too badly."
So a major push forward on time here. The following things have happened.

* You escaped Corcarla District.
* You arrived back at the Adminstrator District and tried to report in to Sand. You were at once over taken outside the life to Sand's location by black and red masked men baring the mark of the Magos Biologis and servoskulls. You were sushered into an unknown location.
* You were debrefed.
* You were inspected for contaminations (a psyker was present, so the men told you, not that you accuallty saw one).
* Your wounds were healed atleast partially. No one should be in danger of collapse, etc.
* You've cleaned up some.
* All your samples and data were taken from you.
* You were ordered to report into Sand.
* You were escorted to Sand's little lab.

* Rego on showing up with the others you have been not allowed to leave or make contact with anyone else. We will resolve your status among the group in this portion of the RP

"We've done what you requested, if that is what is meant.", Solaria voices up. She is still a little skeptical about Sand, but is warming to the idea of hunting heretics. "And we have a new member. An man whose faith and muscle assisted us in our endevours. I will vouche for him."

Sand taps the metal gurney at his side with a metal tipped finger causing a piercing metalic ringing noise. "Yes, Cleric Rego Pertinax. I have read the report from Jericus about this man's performance. I have even had the chance to speak with the Cleric's superiors among the Ecclesiarchy." His eyes turn on Rego and stare at the man for a while in silence.

Solaria smiles to herself. The group could only benefit from such an addition. And the Arbite is sure that if anyone could give an accurate report of his performance, it would be Jericus.

The recently-patched wound in Rego's head throbs dully, and a keening ring occasionally manifests itself, but the Cleric easily ignores them, the worst of it past since their escape from his home-sector. He bows in respect to the Interrogator when he turns upon him, but he does not cringe from his gaze, just yet.

Sand glides forward and gazes at Rego through the mirrored glass, "I am pleased to hear you say that... Acolyte. Starting from this point forward you have been transfered from your previous assignments from the Eccelsiarch to the Inquisition, at the status of Acolyte." Holding up a hand he prevents anyone from speaking for a moment, "I have already cleared all of this with your superiors." He then scans the group, one of the servoskulls behind him flies forward with a low humming noise. "In fact you have all done well enough in your various tasks that you may now consider yourselves full Acolytes under the complete control of the Inquisition. Your previous alliegences are no more, and you work for us now full time." He puts an end to any questions of split loyalty that anyone might still have lingering in thier heads.

"Now then to settle some business. You each were given a cognomen and some peraphinalia to assit you on your mission, all that is to be returned." He points at an open box, "Toss them in there." Watching Sand oversees the return of any extraneous items you might have forgot to turn over during questioning.
Welcome Rego to the Inquisition!
Also I'll be deleteing things from your sheet, such as the Cognmen and such that you had for your fake IDs, etc.

Xanthia's face turns upwards slightly from her normal sneer... into something that might be called a smile for her, but for others would still be a frown. She is apparently pleased with the thought of the Cleric joining them. As the request is made to throw the remaining fake ID tokens over, she quickly complies, throwing in the pieces that were assigned to her at the start of the mission.

Solaria turns over everything she was given, all but the trench coat. "Inquisitor Sand, I do hope this will not be a black mark on my file, but the leather coat I was given was damaged beyond usefulness. It was destroyed in the fire, so no evidence was left."

Jericus nods at the promotion, satisfied with the advancement. "The Emperor is kind," he says, knowing that it would be proper to give such thanks. Then he takes all of the paraphernalia he was given and tosses it in the box. "The medical sampling equipment was handed over previously," he adds. "Do you wish us to surrender the materials that we recovered from the Alms House as well? There were a variety of weapons and supplies that we obtained." Given the nature of the heretical work they'd investigated, he was uncertain whether the Inquisition would consider it biologically tainted or not.

Sand shakes his head, "No of course not, if it hasn't been taken from you already then it is not deemed heretical, keep whatever you have, I expect Acolytes to be both resourcefull and and well equiped. You are agents of the Inquisition and as such we expect you to get your own gear for the good of the Imperium and put it to use."

He eyes the group, "I believe that will settle most of our affairs. You deserve some rest." He points at a lockbox next to the one you've tossed your cognomen in, "You'll find 100 thrones apiece in there. Your stipend for the month, don't spend it all in one place."
I'll edt your sheets, but generally I'm looking at removing the cognomen, and fake ID stuff, the medical sampling kits, and the coded data slate that Jericus has from Sand. Any spoils of war you collected are yours to keep. Please double check the loot thread also there are still a fe items unclaimed. I'll post to that loot thread once I purge your sheets of stuff.

Basically, this chapter is at an end once you finish your conversation with Sand. Feel free to continue interacting, with Sand and your new Acolyte friend Rego until I offically close the thread.
