The old woman shrugs, "Suit yourselves, probably wise of you to not stick around." She hunkers down waiting where is for more people to come by and give her money, or to just sit and watch the traffic with little else left in her life to do.

The two stand outside the building, on the stoop.

"And where might we find the landlords, good lady," Jericus replies with a raised eyebrow. "We'd like to have a word with them. And we'd be grateful for any help you can give." He stresses the word 'grateful' to let her know that it would be worth more than a few words of thanks for her to answer.

The old woman laughs, "Who the hell knows." She coughs amoment, hacking up some muscus into her sleave and wiping it on the side of the steps. "I ain't seen him around here almost ever, just at collection time, that's about it."

"Well then," Jericus replies. "If he can't bother to be here to object, I'm sure he won't mind us looking around." The bureaucrat smiles. "You have our thanks." Then he tosses her another small coin and heads into the building.

The Tech-Priest eyes Jericus, but says nothing. He lets Jercius do most of the talking, as hearing a follower of Mechanicus can put a person on edge, even Haxtes knows this. The 'man' takes a step back, fingering a lasgun at his side, ready to draw it and shoot the woman if she tries anything.

The two coins bounce off the concrete steps up to the woman who gobbles them up with her dirty hands. "Ain't no one gonna say anything ta you two." Haxtus and Jericus head off the stoop into the loby of the Hob Block. The inside is as bad as the outside...

Inside, the main entrance doors have been broken open and much of the foyer has been vandalised and thoroughly scavenged. The elevator doors are stuck open, displaying a black void, the only way up is by a stairwell decorated with damaged murals depicting active and happy workers, stylised representations of hive nobles dispensing bounty from on high and icons of the city's powerful. Aside from some muted noises from behind a few shuttered doors, the whole building seems empty, silent and devoid of activity.

A stair well leads up to the higher floors where Saul's block was located.

"There's something about this place," Jericus says in a slow, considered voice as he looks around the lobby. "These sorts of places are always a little depressing - though I know we'd have killed for something this nice when we were younger." He pauses as if in thought. "You know, I think our father did kill for a place this nice before he died." But he quickly shakes his head at the memory and moves on.

"But here," he continues, "it's something worse. "A miasma of dread. We should be very careful. The people here may have given up hope - and more importantly for us, fear of authority." Then he gestures for the stairs. "Shall we?"

"Emotional sentiments will do us no good, brother," Haxtes says through his mask. His voice is completely gone now, Jericus probably realizes, as the man seems nearly robotical now. However, every once in awhile, Haxtes' human side does come out, as much as he attempts to hide it. "I am ready," he states simply, heading toward the stairwell.

The pair move up the stairs, its a long haul and that feeling over jericus doesn't simply end as you climb the dozen flight of stairs. Double checking his data slate Jericus directs you both toward the right floor, the right hall, and the right apparment hab. As the pair walks down the hall they notice that the door to Saul's hab is a jar, and the lock is broken off and laying in the hall way. The pair have yet to reach the door, still a few meters down from the door way.

Jericus stops short of the door, pulling himself back into what cover there is. "A recent occurrence?" he whispers to his brother. "If so, a moment's precaution will not go astray." Then he leans his ear over, trying his best to hear of there is any activity going on in the apartment.
