Re: Joyous Choir Temple: Main Floor

The Acolytes enter the temple and begin to search around. Sword looks for anyone he might be able to recognize but the people here are all locals to Ambulon and not one looks familiar to him (or to any of you).

Jericus kneels at one of the frescoes and inspects it, but he is surreptitiously inspecting the lay out of the building and takes note of the various ways in and out.

Damien moves into the room and looks over the iconography of the God-Emperor. They seems different than in many Imperial Creed temples, it takes him a moment but then he figures it out. This image the Emperor is smiling! He never smiles, but the Joyous Choir is about being happy and finding ones Trueness in the Emperor's grace, and that must mean the Emperor is happy. Its odd but not blasphemous. As he looks he reaches out, and he can sense the people in the mediation chambers. Then he can sense more, below, must be in a basement, but it feels odd. Wrong, they are there but not there, close but far away. Something.... something wrong must be down stairs.

Haxtes stands in the temple, even more a stranger than his comrades. He grew up on an imperial world, but he has converted to the faith of the Machine God when he was but a boy and ever since, the temples of the ecclesiarchy have seemed strangely unfamiliar to him. He looks around the way an archeologist might look at a newly discovered temple of some strange alien faith. He is calm, but his hands are ready to pull some heavy weapon from under his robes at any time.

Damien isn't sure whether or not he feels comfortable with it, but he quite likes the smiling versions of the God-Emperor. The Savior of Mankind sacrificed everything for his people. Having the people want to love him back isn't a true heresy. But these criminals and heretics have taken a portion of truth and bent it to their own purposes, using it to hide their evil. He shakes his head in sadness and anger.

Slowly ambling back to the group, Damien gets back next to Jericus. "There is something very wrong going on downstairs. Space feels ... wrong somehow."

"Does it feel like they're manipulating the Warp?" Jericus asks quietly. "That would be something we'd have to address." He glances around again. "I'd imagine the stairs down are not available to the public. We may have to tip our hand if we're to get down there."

Damien narrows his eyes, then shrugs slightly. "It could possibly be, it even could probably be. I couldn't say definitively to a Tribunal just from my readings, but we should investigate sooner rather than later. This is at least enough for a reasonable suspicion."

"We should investigate this." Haxtes seldom speaks, but when he does, it must be something of importance. The techpriest calmly surveys their surroundings.

Jericus nods, then looks around for a sign of anyone in authority. "I think our best bet is to pick a door and walk in like we knew what we were doing. We can just hope that the door leads to the area downstairs."
I'm trying to see if there's anyone around who looks official, i.e., who might try and stop us from going through one of the doors. Please let me know if there is.

If not, let's pick a door and go. Now, since you showed us the map already, it's probably fair for us to pick a door randomly. So, 1d6 (1-2, left; 3-4, middle; 5-6 right). 4: middle

There are eyes on the group, how could there not be, look at you, but no one is about to stop you. Those present are local practitioners on the Joyous Choir, just regular citizens seeking to be True for the Emperor. So you look for a way down stairs and Jericus guesses wrong first try, but he finds stairs that lead up to the balconies and chambers above. Its worth it, perhaps, to look like you know what you are doing so you climb up and look around and locate some offices and a gallery with a few pieces of art depicting Ambulon, but nothing incriminating.

So you turn back around after looking down on the main temple hall and watch a few people leave the place. So down the stairs and into another door, this time you find the stairs that take you down to the lower level. At the bottom of the stairs is a pretty nice looking security system locking a door. This must be the place, such a system isn't normally installed to protect the sacramental wine. Eyes turn to Haxtes who steps up to the security pad on the door and he sets to work on it drawing out his multikey and his mechadendrite arm both to set to work.

It takes him a good five minutes but he disables the silent alarms, then the trip sensors and finally the actual lock itself. The red light turns green and the door pops open with a hiss a few centimeters. Storing his items the Tech Priest steps back letting someone else take the lead.
Challenging + 0 Security

Mutli Key +30

19 vs 76 (6 Successes)

You made enough to not trip the silent alarm and open the door at the same time.
Sword pushes the door open and after manifesting his blade, just in case, he steps into the chamber with the other acolytes right behind him. Something is wrong. Something is just not right. As soon as you enter you can sense it, you can feel it, and you can see it. The vaulted ceiling in the chamber is well over 15 meters high, the room must be four times that wide, and even more than that long. Its...its all physically impossible! (At least according to all Imperial Science that anyone has ever heard of.) The walls are covered by criss-crossing support beams that, when inspected closely, are shown to be completely covered in minute intricate engravings that hurt the eyes to look upon them.

The main large room clearly has smaller rooms and areas off of it. Setting foot inside the chamber Sword and Damien instantly feel their psyker power drain from them. Swords's focused blade vanishes into nothingness, and all attempts to draw pysker powers fail. In the main hall appears to be a massive processing plant. This production lab has a long line of servitors sitting at various tables, each performing a specific task required for the production of whatever they are making: sifting grains, slicing up bio matter, mixing chemicals, etc.

As you arrive and stand there barely able to take in and accept what you are seeing a handful of people (not the servitors who are working almost blindly) realize you have arrived and look up across the room at you a bit shocked and unsure just who you are.

Disturbing (+0) Fear Test

Jericus 75 Fail - Fate Re-Roll: 52 Fail (1 Insanity Point)
Damien 83 (Unshakable Faith 86) Fail - Fate Re-Roll: 74 Fail (2 Insanity Points)
Haxtes Rite of Pure Thought - Immune to Fear
Sword 66 Fail - (1 Insanity Point)

You also all, but Haxtes, have this:

The character is badly startled. He may only take a single Half Action when in his next Turn, but afterwards
he may act normally.

When in doubt, bluff.
Looking around, Jericus is astounded at what he sees. This is impossible ... but it's here, so it's possible. For a moment these two competing ideas battle in his head. But then he calms down, accepting the impossibility of the situation, and allowing his mind to slip just a bit more from the solid foundation it rests on.

Gathering his wits, he looks and sees the others on the far side of the room, and catches their eye. He strides purposefully over toward them, gesturing the others to follow. Now was the time to be bold, not timid!

Sword would sink physically if it were not for his power armor. "It is the same as the room Haxtes and I encountered." Sword reaches and pulls his greatsword off his back. "I will hack these fools into pieces!" He groans under his helmet as he stands frozen.
