To clarify the xcrawl 'schedule' or any full weekend game.

If we played it from Breakfast to Dinner, both days. Thats 8 hours per day. Then after dinner we break from it and play all the various Mini Games (that's what I'm calling Card/Board/Etc games now) until late into the night, we could be looking at 6 hours of that easily (6pm to Midnight) or longer. Last year we left Brennor's and went to Wayloss and played more 3 Dragon Ante until it was 5am the first night....

So even an All Weekender game wouldn't take up the whole thing.

I would love to have 8 people in the xcrawl game(s), 2 GMs. Plus something else running. The nice thing about xcrawl (as the thread explains) is that once we get the Crawl Parties set here, we have players vs players, smack talk, rp interactions, etc, but the game just simply BAMB it starts. While any other RPG game might requires hours to even get the game started with all the back story, etc (unless of course much of it is done here, and it probaly shoudl be). Still, we get all action, good RP, and lots of different character options to play.

Then the game has a real end time to it. And next year, the winnign team defends their title against the next team of challaners, and so on. We can start a nice running event.

Something like Home on th Ranged Attack might be fun, if you were to port the adventure from the tabl to the site afterwards...cause can you just end your game in the weekend, what's teh modivation to play serious, etc if after Sunday you'll never see the guy again? Just thoughts.

I admit that the year after year rolling thingy is kinda what draws me to the XCrawl thing. I like the way you guys have talked it up.

That's another reason I'm leaning toward selfgame... but let me ask a question about X-crawl:

Would it kill your game plan to have a timer running? Like, whichever team gets closest to the goal by x time wins, so that even if we don't get through the whole map by the end of the day, we still have a winner?

Yeah, Power Grid is my favorite board game... and we don't own a copy of it! We've got a few friends that have copies (4 different copies between friends), so we've never needed to own it before.

Starting something at the Party and carrying it onto the site could be quite interesting.

Another thing could be the standard thing done with one-shots at places like Gen-Con. BYOC within the specified limits and play the game. It works for things like GenCon. Don't see why it couldn't work here... though obviously not gonna have much of a tie to anything on the site if this approach is taken. Shouldn't have as much of an impact as at GenCon either, since the characters could be pre-checked through the site.

Never played it, but sounds like a decent party game.

Man its hard to post with the color scheme...

No, that doesn't work Bitom. I will repeat the concept, again.

There are two teams of players, ACTUALLY people playing. With two DMs running two games simultaniously. Team 1 enters the crawl from the west, Team 2 from the east. THey go through the dungeon, however many rooms it turns out to be, a 1 day crawl means like 3 or 4 rooms totall. Their actions in one room, can help to screw over the other team. When both teams reach the middle, it is a giant arena, and the two teams battle one another to the death. We bring both groups together, the DMs regulate rules, but the players face each other until one team remains. That team wins, gets all the prizes, name on the Emperor's Cup, and they return next year to defend rtheir title against a new team.

So no Bit, a time limit doesn't work.
