BC2010: Crappy mini-painting challenge, V vs Bit

This just in from BrenCon 2010.

The Crappy Mini, Crappy Painting, Crappy Contest is OVER!

Participants were allowed to choose a haphazardly assembled Space Marine, and were asked to paint it in only 15 minutes using whatever paints they were able to "draft" before the round began. Sharing of paints was encouraged, and some number of the paints were duds (dry, ruined, etc).

From the start of the bell until "BRUSHES DOWN!", every single contestant gave their Space Marine a pigmentation that would strike fear into the hearts of the enemy. Some painted so hard they busted the arm right off their figure.

Pics will be up shortly. There WAS ~in fact~ a round TWO as judged by Vardaen (since he could not be trusted not to bribe the officials unless he was the officials .

All told, 18 Space Marines got their stripes, proving once and for all that you CAN paint 2 squads of figures in 30 minutes. You just need 9 contestants, no sleep for the previous 2 days.

This event was popular enough to be a top contender for return at BrenCon 2011.

As it turns out Round 2 results were actually fixed, as I recieved a bribe from an unrevealed source -- I won't say who, but you *know* who *you* are! Because of this, all of round 2 results are to be throw out with the bathwater. The new results are as follows.

Haha, great names, V!

The painting contest was a huge success this year, for sure! I still think it is hilarious that micro & I (who were sitting on opposite ends of the table) painted using nearly exactly the same color scheme with no communication in any way.
