BC2011: L5R: Craft a Character Contest

Post by Vardaen » Tue May 17, 2011 5:07 pm

Image Hey all! As a little something extra for BrenCon and the Site I'm propossing a "Build a Character" contest. The rules are simple. Using L5R RPG, either 3rd Ed Revised or 4th Edition make a character of Rank 1 to 3. Work out all the crunchy bits as well as do the 20 Questions and a History for the characters. (Either set in the Clan War Era or the Current Time Period of 4th Edition) Bring that character with you to BrenCon and turn them in to me. I'll reward the person who I think has the best character design with trial subscription to the Imperial Herald for L5R!!! This subscription will be for half a year and the Imperial Herald includes things about the Card Game, the Current Story, and the RPG (as well as free cards!). I'll also use your chracter in one of my L5R game as a spot lighted character, and if you are playing in one of my L5R games I'll also reward you with an IC surprise! (which is to be a surprise so dont' ask what it is, but it should be fun!).

The best way to win this is to have a detailed character history that works in your advantages and disavtanages, and to make sure all your crunchy bits work as well. I'll take characters either digital on the Excel Sheet or hand writen (Image for your character a plus as well!).

I'm so in!!! I already know what I'm going to do!!!
I am the voice of Never Never Land, the innocence of every man, I am the empty crib of Peter Pan. A silent kite against the blue, blue sky, every chimney every moonlit sight. I am the story that will read you real, every memory that you hold dear...

You couldn't make that disclaimer any smaller, huh?

I'll go with that too and churn out a character that'd be pain in the ass for any group of players. Well, at least as long as V can bear to read the grammar-messed-up background from me. Hopefully I won't have to commit seppuku at BrenCon, because I am quite sure that immigration won't let me bring my daisho with me. Swords are not prescription medications to bring aboard planes, right?

I'm pretty sure we'll have ceremonial sporks on hand if it comes to that.

She looks like she'd be feeling Shimazu.

So far no takers on this. I'm hoping that folks that are working on characters can get me some infor before or early in BrenCon so I have time to review them but you can turn them in any time during the Con!

Hopefully not. I'd hate to lose against a man of such awesomeness as you, Tet.

Perhaps you'll board a plane just for this contest. :)
Which would be great.

Sure why not! The prize is something that I don't have to hand to you directly.
