2012: Stuff to bring - craft beer
I'm really into craft beer and Vermont has more craft breweries per capita than any other state - even beating out Colorado!
So, since a lot of our craft beer isn't exported outside of New England, I'd like to take some requests. I'll be bringing a few samples down this year and I'd like to hear if anyone has any requests.
I'm even up for some beer trades, if anyone brings in a bottle of local craft beer from somewhere else (that isn't available here).
For hopheads, I recommend looking at the Alchemist Heady Topper. It's my favorite, beating out my previous favorite of Stone's Arrogant B@st@rd. It's consistently in the top 5 beers.
Hill Farmstead and Lawson's Finest are also some good (and hard to find even here) breweries to research.
Also, if I can find some, I'll bring some Sap beer (made with Maple Sap), but it's hard to find. One of the newer local breweries just made a fresh batch that should be ready on July 4th, but they'll probably sale out of it shortly afterwards...

I'm up for almost any beer. And I'm certainly bringing some of it too.
Wait? Did I read that right? Beer trading? Nice.

There's a local German/Austrian style brewery here too founded by the Von Trapp family (the family which the Sound of Music was based on). They have an awesome lodge/resort in the mountains. I don't know if I can get bottles without going to the brewery (visited it a few months ago), but the local bev warehouse is the biggest (and best) in the state, they have nearly everything.

Hey, if I had enough time, I'd bring a case of my own home brew! I was going to make a batch, but didn't have enough time for it to finish (didn't want to move it during my house move, so I didn't start it). I'll start on my next brewing batch in a couple of weeks once I unpack my supplies.Vardaen wrote:We hosting a Dwarven or Hobbit convention this year?
Next BrenCon (2013), I'll bottle and bring my own beer!

That's right. I remember reading that the von Trapp family relocated to that neck of the woods after the war.

I found my bottle of Duff Ale (With Tet's pic on it) from BrenCon09 just the other night.

09? I didn't see one back then... Are you sure it wasn't in '08?

Which ever one was the first BrenCon and not the party at Brennor's house the year before that.

That would be 08, according to the threads in this forum.
