Re: BrenCon 2013 -- Food, Attendance, Donations

Can someone give me some advice?

It looks like my flight would be Denver - ATL - Detroit - BGM.

Or, DEN - MSP - DET - BGM.

Either way, I have only a 39 minute layover in Detroit. This makes me slightly nervous as to if I'd be able to make that flight. Now, I know if my flight is late, I'm screwed, but does anyone have any experience with the Detroit airport, particularly flying in BGM? Is it likely I will be in the same terminal? I believe the DET - BGM flight is the only jet that flies into BGM instead of prop planes.

Bah. You guys need to move to civilization.

BTW - These are Delta flights.

If I remember right, Delta only has one Terminal in Detroit. It is the big one, though. you may have a run, but a half-hour should be enough to change planes, as long as you aren't late coming in.

Any chance you can find/get an United flight? I went via Dulles->BGM and it was pretty easy. Especially now that they have the train working.

I've flown through DET a couple of times and hated it. I'm not sure 39 minutes will be enough there, but I'm not sure how the gates are configured there.

I always pick seats closer to the front, so you get off the plane earlier. Even if it's a crappy seat, it may save you from missing a flight.

It would not be easy to do anything other than Delta. The price is fairly restrictive.

I have only flown through IAD once, now it was TO IAD, and it was absolutely horrific. I have never seen so many people trying to get through security in my life.

Ah. I used to fly through Dulles like 3-6 times a year. I knew that place in/out, when I was flying from west to east coasts.

The security thing has been moved downstairs. Not sure how long ago you were there, but it's all fancy and stuff now. There's like 20+ scanners/TSA terminals. Long line, but it usually moves pretty fast.

I'm having a real tough time finding anything decent.

Don't think there'll be anything decent to find. Just need to take the leap.

Yeah. I always end up waiting too long when purchasing airfare. Grrr. At this point, I'm trying to figure out if flying into Syracue or Elmira would be better, and just renting a car.

Syracuse, Elmira and Rochester are options if you want me to pick you up instead of renting.

What time would be best to get in there for a pickup / take back?
