BrenCon 2013 -- Recap!

Post by Vardaen » Mon Aug 26, 2013 6:44 pm

Wow, BrenCon2013 is over, and I think I slept about 8 hours total in 3 days!

Let's see recap, let's start with who made a showing. I'm very tired, sorry if I forget you!)

Vardaen
Amaris
(+2 Kids, and Pippen my cat!)
My Brother in Law
(+45 Local Gamer Guys!)
Shurijo
TetNak -- Yes the elusive wild Tetnak actually showed up, it was so weird to open my front door and see Tet standing there smiling at me. Then of course I threw a d20 at him and shouted "Pathfinder Lives!" and ran naked into the woods behind the house.... or was that one of the late night sleep deprived hallucinations I was having? Anyhow, he came.

Bitom
Brennor
Joni
(+3 Kids)
jp69
Isabell
(+2 Kids)
MadVlat
Hayabusa
Eilandor
(+Wife and 2 Kids)
Wayloss
micro
Shadowwk (aka Shadowhawk!)
Connie the Fire Element
Kieren_Knuckleave
(+2 Kids)
pygmaelion
Soshi(.Toru)

I *think* that might be everyone, but I feel like I forgot someone (sorry!)

LotR LCG
Legendary (Marvel Hero deck building Co-Opetetive thing)
Nightfall
Artimis (a lan game with like 6 laptops/tablets going at once)
Hirushima Hex
Pandemic
Space Alert
Descent
Lifeboat
Mech Warrior (wargame table top thing)
40K Orks vs Imperial Guard table top melee thing
Ricochet Robot
Werewolf at the camp fire! (I told you my wife was a werewolf!)

We even had the first ever kid camp out, 5 kids slept in a tent in the back yard on Saturday night and not one got even by the bear.

I played Game of Thrones LCG with jp, MV, and Haya. Plus a joust with Shurijo.

Auction and Raffle stuff...

Alot of good things were on the auction tables and raffle tables. Notably the Edge of the Empire book (60$ value) donated by TetNak. We had some more minis by JP (wooo!) and Shadowrun video games via Steam (Bren I need the rest of my key code so I can play!) There as alot of booze on the auction table too thanks to MV's Blood of the Border Legion cordial he makes.

The raffle had some good treats like Yankee Candy Bars, Girl Scout Cookies, and huge d20 lollipops! Along with plenty of neat other things, some Star Wars card game things and a Star Wars boxed game thing. Tet also won the quick start guide and adventure for Shadowrun, so that means he will HAVE to start up a SR game soon! (Those are the rules)

The raffle pulled in 80$+, the Auction... near 200$? I never did get that figure, but we also had a surplus on the food money which rolled over to the site upkeep around 60$+ or so. I would guess we generated just shy of 350 for the site this event, Bren can give an more accurate account of that.

Side note, if you left something at my house... thanks I liked that game :) I mean, uh, let me know if you are missing something and I'll put it to the side for you. ShadowHawk I think you left your Talisman and Hunter games at my place.

Yeah, you asked but I was so tired I thought I might have a stroke if I tried to use my brain and words to teach you.

So we did manage to play a few games of the Lord of the Rings LCG and the custome senario that I built. The advenuter I made for the LCG was based on the Chapter 1, Making of a Fellowship found in the Misc game section. It is a hard adventure, and Eilandor and I lost it 2 times in 2 player game. Once my BiL sat down and we had a third player it was a bit easier, not much, but enough that we won it!

You can find the beta of the PDF of all the cards of the scenario here (hi rs, large file, like REALLY BIG so right click and download as...):

and all the player cards, which we didn't get to use, here:

http://www.dicefellowship.org/~vardaen/ ... oCards.pdf

The player card spoiler, just the heros. The PDF has 3 carsd per hero plus some more...

From what I saw, you actually never ran the new heroes in your decks for that adventure, right?

Rgiht. I didn't have time to get them properly backed/sleeved. But I will. I found a great site that you can upload your images too and they print out real cards for you with them, nice backs and all.
