Ring of Air - Chopsticks and Daishos

Beyond the boarders of the Emerald Empire lies a vast and diverse world centered around the Burning Sands -- a place cursed by Shilah the Sun and Kaleel the Moon. For too long the Samurai in Rokugan have remained ignorant of the greater world around them.
A danger is rising, but is it too late for the children of the Kami? Only you know that answer.Run by the Game Master Moto Vardaen

Ring of Air - Chopsticks and Daishos

Post by Vardaen » Wed Apr 08, 2009 10:50 pm

This split off thread comes from the main thread as the group arrives in the Shrine of Duty. Tokugawa, Zenko and the hemin Hideo are in this thread (Nate I would like you to post for Hideo during this exchange as he's your servant
Parked at the stairs of the Shrine of Duty are two wagons full of rice, and a bit more. These wagons were to be delievered to the monks of Setsu Giri by the now dead ronin Fusawara. Instead the heroes have posed as hemin and brought the wagons here themselves to discover who might be recieving stolen weapons. Kuni Zenko and the Crane hemin Hideo sit and stand at the wagons awaiting someone as the other three of the group, Doji Kijuo, Kitsuki Ryuichi and Hiruma Umeko are up on the high platuea above where the monks and the shrine is.

Coming down the wide stone stair that leads to the shrine is a young female monk. Her head is shaved, and a crow tattoo covers her scalp. She motions at the group as she approaching expecting a greeting from the two.

Hidden in a nearby tree Tsuruchi Tokugawa a Mantis Bounty Hunter sits watching and waiting his longbow in his hands.

Kuni Zenko steps forward, bobbing a deep bow. "Greetings, Monk-sama. How may we serve?" He keeps his sentences humble and to the point, his every movement respectful and subservient. Almost like treating every samurai as his family daimyo, or at least that is how he makes it mentally easier to imagine being a peasant and acting like one.

The woman bows back, "Konba Wa, good evening." She moves to the wagons and places a hand on one of the crates. "The Sensei of the temple has ordered the rice to be taken to the storehouse, so it can be portioned out and delievered to the orphans and the poor." She turns toward Zenko who answered here. "Your companions are up at the shrine partaking of us hospilality. You have traveled far, why don't you head up and join them. I will see to the wagons now."

"Hai, but we've brought it this far. The least we can do is help you move it to the storehouse." Hideo replies. bowing lightly towards the woman as she moves closer to the two.

"I do not think it would take us too long. Plus I think we all know the importance of this shipment. The sooner we get it unloaded for you, the sooner you can put it to good use." He adds in attempting to infer the weapons without directly talking about them. The time he's spent serving the crane samurai has taught Hideo much in the way of words, and etiquette. He knows not how the other samurai his master has begun traveling with are at speaking to others, but knows he is typically pretty good at it.

The shugenja nods along with the words of his new companion. "Hai, our labor is not yet done. When we have finished our duty, we will be glad to partake of your extremely generous hospitality." He bows again, then moves to unload the goods to wherever the Monk designates.

Asami looks at the two men, "I supose I can impose on you further. This way then." She hops on the second wagon, and snaps the reigns of the oxen pushing the wagon backwards and then around a nearby tree and off along the side of the temple foundation. She looks back once to make sure the two are following her in the other wagon.

Kuni Zenko allows Hideo to take the reins, himself not accustomed to leading a team of animals to do anything. He discreetly makes a questioning gesture towards the Tsuruchi in the trees, wondering what he is up to. He points towards the inside of the cart hurriedly, then gets in himself.

The Tsuruchi, Tokugawa, begins following the carts. He does so at a distance in order to give him the best view of what is occurring and the advantage of range if he would need to use his longbow.

Tokugawa follows behind the wagon, shadowing it from a distance, Zenko doesn't see the Mantis, but he hopes he's there. No one else sees the man either as he slips through the shanty town from shadow to shadow following the wagons.

The wagons roll into a small area slightly away from the rest of the make shift village, a single barn like building awaits with open doors. Asami stops the wagon and dismounts there. "We can unload here." She heads into the barn without a word, perhaps to prep the area, giving Zenko and Hideo a moment alone to speak. Tokugawa stands someplace nearby watching unseen.

Kuni Zenko speaks quietly to Hideo as he repositions a crate of rice on the back of the cart. "If they are expecting weapons to be with the shipment, we best leave ours in this building. It looks like our Tsuruchi friend is keeping watch unseen. He will be able to see if anyone tries to move our daisho from this place." He waits patiently for the Monk to come back with instructions on where to unload everything before hefting the crate and starting the unpacking process.
