Chapter One - The Blue Nixie

The first Savage Tide has already touched the mortal world, yet none who live today recall this terrible time of red ruin. It swept over an ancient city, transforming beggar and noble, merchant and thief, resident and visitor, one and all into feral, ravenous fiends. What took the ancients hundreds of years to build came crumbling down in a matter of days. When the final ripples of the tide faded, only ruins remained.

Now, after a thousand years, the hidden architect of the Savage Tide gazes upon new targets. This time, the doom will not be limited to one hapless city. This time, all of civilization is perched on the shore, blissfully ignorant of what the tide is about to bring in.

Lorien remains silent for a long while, but finally speaks his mind. "I would like to accept your kind offer," he says. "But I have promised the City Watch that I would help them care for the kidnapped animals until a proper place can be found for all of them. I don't know how long that will take. But I would be happy to take you up on your offer when I am finished with that."

"Of course," Lavinia replies. "I understand that your duty to those poor frightened animals must come first. But when you are finished there, I hope you'll come back here and speak to me again. I should very much like someone with your skills and ethics to help me with my problems."
arkahm is having some difficulties in his real life that are making it impossible for him to post. I'm going to temporarily write him out of the story right now. And when things calm down (hopefully in a month or so), he'll come back. Essentially the task of helping with the kidnapped animals will take just as much time as it need to.

So for the moment we'll proceed with five.

A saddened look befalls Shumba's face as Lorien proclaims his departure. After several moments, the squat tribesman finally proclaims the following whilst giving his half-elven companion a long hug goodbye.

"I shall miss joo mon, but know that our paths will cross once again soon enough! Joo do what you must for now, but know that joo can always find me around if need be! Be safe and may joo always walk the true path mon!"

Lucky John to prepares to leave, asking Berek to wait on him. "Lady Vanderboren. It has a long night for all of us I believe and I do have other matters to attend to, so I would ask that the rest of your night be filled with the pleasant dreams of your youth and the knowledge that you have gained new friendships this day". The bard bows at the waist then and makes for the door with a confident stride and the ever present smile on his face. "Goodnight to all"...

Berek nods to John with a wink. Tavern Crawling with the bard tends to be much more amusing than alone...

Daerith nod to Lorien, "Its probably in Lady Vanderboren's best interest as well to have you helping the City Watch. She will need some eyes and ears on her ship while the animals are being transported off it. Thank you for you assitance Lorien, I look forward to working with you again soon." Daerith gives the druid a friendly hand shake, and offers the others a 'good-ye' or 'good-night' as they leave the manor.

The Elven Wizard helps to see the others out of the front door, standing with Lavina and Mrs.Whistlegap as they leave. He has some matters to speak to Lavina about privately, and so will remain even after the others have left.

Knarra states, "Well my Lady, I need a kip and a stiff drink! I am used to the smaller things in life - you know, family, hearth, home and children." Knarra then puts her hands on her hips and thinks a moment. "When will we meet again my Lady?" she asks.

The Vanderboren Vault

Post by Trogdor » Tue Dec 01, 2009 10:11 pm

"Tomorrow," Lavinia says. "I'll have a carriage come around at the beginning of forenoon to take us to the vault. Any of you are welcome to come an hour before then if you'd like some breakfast." Then she bids everyone good night, retiring back to the study to have a private word with Daerith. Everyone then disperses through the city to get a few hours of rest before morning.

The next day finds you all back at the Vanderboren estate. Those who get there early enough are treated to a simple breakfast of eggs, bacon, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, and fresh baked bread. And as expected, at just a few minutes before the bell rings marking Forenoon, a carriage arrives in the street before the estate. Kora comes into the dining hall to report this to Lavinia who rises, touches her napkin to her lips, and says, "the carriage is finally here. Shall we go?" She seems anxious to get on with the morning's task.
Pausing for comments. Feel free to back post your arrival, breakfasting, or anything you might have wanted to do during the evening.

After a night of heavy drinking with Lucky John Berek finds himself awoken by one of Lavina's servents. In order to be more presentable in front of the fine lady Berek down a quick pint to get his spirits up and is off in the carriage the unpleasant(to some) odor of Beer surrounding him. At the estate he inquires with John if he has a cantrip on hand to wash him or at least remove the odor but otherwise he is fully ready for action.

Daerith is at the Vanderboren estate before the others, the truth is he never left last night. So he's up with a smile on his face as he eats the breakfast with a cheerful mood. He is dressed for battle, expecting the worse should thugs or bandits, or another person, come to try and claim the prizes in Lavina's vault.

"So we still have to figure out what this parchment might mean, but perhaps we'll have more of a clue when we arrive at the vault. Certainly its some form of lock combination, if Lucky John's correct." He stands, cleaning his mouth, grabbing up his cloak in one hand, and Lavina's arm in the other he escorts the woman to the carriage.

Shumba's night is spent quietly attending to what affairs he has before finally retiring to bed. In a subconscious effort to forget about mourning the loss of his half-elven companion (Lorien) Shumba spends the night dreaming starry-eyed dreams of Lady Lavinia and all her beauty. When morning comes, the rugged half-orc quickly gathers his belongings and heads off to the Vanderboren estate where he enjoys a quick breakfast with those that have likewise chosen to attend.

"Most gracious meal Lady Vandeboren, my compliments to da chef! I'm ready to go as soon as you are!"
YAYE, Berek got him some Boo-Boo! For what it's worth, I really hope that it was Kora! ;-)
