Chapter Two - A Shortcut Across the Bay

The first Savage Tide has already touched the mortal world, yet none who live today recall this terrible time of red ruin. It swept over an ancient city, transforming beggar and noble, merchant and thief, resident and visitor, one and all into feral, ravenous fiends. What took the ancients hundreds of years to build came crumbling down in a matter of days. When the final ripples of the tide faded, only ruins remained.

Now, after a thousand years, the hidden architect of the Savage Tide gazes upon new targets. This time, the doom will not be limited to one hapless city. This time, all of civilization is perched on the shore, blissfully ignorant of what the tide is about to bring in.

Despite Wavedancer's words, the half-elf maintains his position at the door through another smash against the door by the bullywugs outside. Once more the door holds, granting those within precious seconds to prepare.
Zan's interfere with another roll: "20", success

Bullywug strength check (+/- from bullywug aid and Zan's interference): 12 vs DC 23, fails

Armor Status
Lavinia: 3/5
Tolin: 2/5
There is a pause after this attempt to break down the door, and soon the reason is clear. The sound of an axe striking the door can be heard, and the half-elf quickly moves back, not willing to get in the way of an axe. He retreats to the pile of armor and grabs the remaining piece of armor, a set of studded leather armor.
Bullywug's attacks: 6 and 8 damage
Door HP: 16

You're lucky. This is a rich person's house in a jungle environment. I figure the doors would be made of a nice, solid wood.

Armor Status
Lavinia: 4/5
Tolin: 3/5
Zan 0/5
The attacks on the door continue, clearly with great fervor. The people inside have done something with the bullywug priest. And the bullywugs outside want to rescue it. Soon the glint of axe blades can be seen poking through fissures in the door.

But there is some good news. As the door starts to fall to pieces, Lavinia takes her place on the opposite side of Wavedancer as Chanur, rapier in hand. Not willing to simply be protected by others, the Lady of Vanderboren Manor is determined to help defend herself.
Bullywug's attacks: 9 and 8 damage
Door HP: 9
Door is now "broken"

Armor Status
Lavinia: 5/5
Tolin: 4/5
Zan 1/5
Bullywug faces are now visible through the increasingly large holes in the door. It's clear that they have two bullywugs with axes looted from the Vanderboren armory working to break down the door. It's clear that it won't last much longer.

Lavinia finally has a moment free to address her rescuers. "Thank you, Chanur," she says, giving the sailor a nod. "And thank you as well," she gives a similar nod to Wavedancer. "You haven't met the Jade Ravens, but Torin and Zan are two of them. They defended me until we were overcome by numbers." At this moment, the human steps forward, carrying two short swords and wearing a chain shirt. "Name's Torin," he says. "Thanks for the assist."
Bullywug's attacks: 9 and 4 damage
Door HP: 5
Door is now "broken" (It's still not enough to cast Color Spray through)

Armor Status
Tolin: 5/5
Zan 2/5

"I am called Wavedancer. Let us save the pleasantries for after we are assaulted by vicious frogs." The rare aquan elf give a smile, and even as speaking, never looks from the door. Wavedancer waits impatiently for the door to come down and his spell to begin.

Chanur moves close enough to stab any frog that sticks a head through the hole.

Have the Bullywugs stopped trying to chop down the door? I want to make a perception check if so, to see if I can hear anything outside.

Sorry for the delay. I've been trying to keep this fight at least somewhat coordinated with the fight on the first floor.
Finally, with two more chops, the door comes down at last, revealing four very angry bullywugs ready to rush in. But this is exactly what Wavedancer has been waiting for this last half minute. As soon as the frog-creatures have dragged the last of the door out of the way, the aquatic-blooded sorcerer waves a slightly finned hand and speaks some arcane syllables, summoning a bright, multicolored light that passes over the bullywugs. A second later, all four drop to the ground unconscious.
Bullywug's attacks: 8 and 7 damage
Door HP: 0
Door is now destroyed

Wavedancer casts Color Spray.
B-1 Will Save: 14, fail
B-2 Will Save: 3, fail
B-4 Will Save: 10, fail
B-4 Will Save: 1, fail

All are unconscious for 3 rounds, plus other stuff for longer. But they'll be dead long before then, I'm sure.

So yes, there are some bullywugs still out here. As for what Chanur can hear, I'm not certain, since the other group has to catch up with you a little bit.

"Great job Wavedancer! Lets finish these off and see if we can get out of here."

Wavedancer nods, rushing up toward one of the bullywugs and pulling his trident off his back. He does not wast any time in gigging the frog-men until they are all dead.

Alls Quiet on the Third Floor

Post by Trogdor » Tue Feb 01, 2011 1:17 am

The four bullywugs are unconscious and outnumbered. They don't last but a few moments. Two members of the Sea Wyverns and two members of the Jade Ravens rush forward. Four weapons are raised, and four weapons descend. There's no need to raise them again. All of the bullywugs on the third floor of Vanderboren Manor are dead, and Lavinia Vanderboren is safe.

There is a moment of silence on the third floor, which is broken by a shout and what sounds like the slam of a large club against something. "Kaskus and Llamae," the man named Tolin calls out. "It may be them. We don't know what happened to them. Someone needs to look for them." He looks to the stairs and back at Lavinia. "But someone also has to stay here to guard Lady Vanderboren."

Chanur nods at Tolin, then looks at Lady Vanderboren.

"It might be our friends, you stay with Lady Vanderboren, Wavedancer and I will check it out."

With his rapier drawn Chanur heads towards the sound of the club, expecting to find a gaggle of Bullywugs.

Wavedancer nods to Chanur and prepares to follow him out the door. "I am ready," he says, replacing his trident and pulling forth his longbow again.
