Chapter Four - Here There Be Monsters

The first Savage Tide has already touched the mortal world, yet none who live today recall this terrible time of red ruin. It swept over an ancient city, transforming beggar and noble, merchant and thief, resident and visitor, one and all into feral, ravenous fiends. What took the ancients hundreds of years to build came crumbling down in a matter of days. When the final ripples of the tide faded, only ruins remained.

Now, after a thousand years, the hidden architect of the Savage Tide gazes upon new targets. This time, the doom will not be limited to one hapless city. This time, all of civilization is perched on the shore, blissfully ignorant of what the tide is about to bring in.

Daerith stays at it, threatening the thing with his blade, "You are finished now, we will escape this hell. You made a big mistake taking our friend." He slices at the monkey-things legs that floats 5 feet of the ground. "Come on you over grown monkey!" Just then he shifts his stance north.

Temple to Demogorgon - Combat Over

Post by Trogdor » Tue Nov 26, 2013 12:10 am

Berek stands up, keeping his shield between him and the bar-igura to protect himself from a swatting claw.

Chanur stabs up, cutting a vein in the demon's ankle, causing it to bleed its demonic ichor on the ground.

Wavedancer once more hurls four balls of force at the creature. But this time they pierce its magical protection, opening large wounds on its side.

Daerith follows up with a slash from Torothalion that nearly takes its leg off.

Finally, the Lord of Fogmire begins to look worried. "This can't be happening," he screams. "Lord Demogorgon, they were to be our slaves. You can't let this happen to your loyal servant!" But as he speaks, the ichor continues to drain from his heel, causing the unfortunate demon to pass out and hang limply from the boots, which are clearly what kept him aloft.

Fin uses the opportunity of a moment's silence to cast a healing spell on Berek.

But one thing is clear, the Sea Wyverns have killed the Master of Fogmire. They should now be free of his grasp and able to continue their journey to Farshore.
Berek stands up.
AoO from Olangru: 19; miss

Chanur attacks (+2 flank - only because Berek is Large): 29 hit for 5 (+7 SA) = 2, plus 2 bleed / "1" (28; no fumble)

Wavedancer casts MM.
Caster level check: 27; success!
Damage: 14

Urol shudders and cries.

Daerith does a full 2H attack: 32; hit for 14 / 24; miss

Fin casts CSW on Berek: 17 damage healed.

Olangru bleeds 2 and dies.

Believe it or not, that was a CR 9 encounter. He was AC 27, which is pretty high for you guys. And if you hadn't enchanted your weapons, it would have been a much longer fight.

Berek: 56/92
Chanur: 68/69

Berek yanks the lifeless Demon from the air. He considers tossing it in the fire right then and there but decides against such a course of action and instead takes the things shoes off as they are apparently magical.

"You stinkin little Bugger is the master of this godforsaken place?" the angry Dwarf yells at the dead demon. With that he chucks it's lifeless body into a corner and begins to search the place.
5 to 1 never makes for a fair fight... Action economy usually means single big monsters are quickly outgunned. And while AC 27 is very high for a CR9 dude it's far from unhitable. Had Berek expended his buffs he'd be hitting it more often than not.

Fin finishes his prayer of healing and sighs, whether this is out of relief or weariness is anyone's guess.

"I suppose we should search the place, the demon's body included. Hopefully we can be done with this shortly, eh?"

Daerith blinks, the thing is dead. "That's it? After all that build up its just one monkey bastard?" He looks around the chamber, "Captain, perhaps you can search the chamber for hidden traps, and more importantly hidden caches of treasure taken from previous victims?"

Daerith inspects the Bar-Igura champion and rolls him over a few time. Once he's stripped of the boots he looks at Berek. "I say toss his corpse into the fire and prevent any possibility of it returning to life."

The Magus doesn't need to say it but he says it anyhow, "Fin, is Urol alright? Can you check on him. And, good job everyone. Let's clean up and get the heck out of here."

"Well I got it's shoes..." Berek mumbles as he continues his search.
Berek has the best perception score so I'd say he takes 20 and everyne else aids in his check. That should turn up pretty much everything... Also I want to go back to the monkey room and take along the empty chest for later examination.

Fin nods and moves to inspect the shell-shocked gnome, leaving the treasure to the others.

Wavedancer loudly sucks in his breath when the monster curses them all and then finally falls over limp. Expecting more, he does not immediately relax until the dwarf saunters over to the floating creature and takes its boots off. In light of this recent adventure, this action causes the usually stoic Sorcerer to burst out laughing, long peels of laughter.

When the funny bug finnally passes through Wavedancer, he abruptly sits down as if his legs cannot bear his slight weight any longer.

"Finally. It has been ended" whispers the Sorcerer.

Lemorian Golem - Round 1

Post by Trogdor » Thu Nov 28, 2013 1:22 am

The battle against the bar-igura Master of Fogmire is done, and the Sea Wyverns are the victors. But tehy spend little time celebrating. Berek and Daerith go about looting the Master's corpse and tossing the body in the flames; Fin tends to Urol, who seems shaken and withdrawn, but not physically damaged to any grteat degree; and Chanur and Wavedancer check out the rest of the large room.

Suddenly, there is a sustained cracking sound that sounds for all the world like breaking rocks or two pieces of stone being rubbed together. The Sea Wyverns turn toward the source of the sound only to see the statue of Demogorgon up on the dias start to come to life, it's tentacles writing despite the fact that they're still made of stone.

Fin., Daerith, and Wavedancer are quick enough to react before the golem can.
Yes, to the surprise of no one, there's another baddie. But lest you feel that Olangru was a let down, he was CR 9 and a decent foe. You guys were really smart in your prep and got a few lucky rolls. That helped a lot against him.

It has been 3 rounds since you killed Olangru.
Round 1: Fin 18, Daerith 17.7, Wavedancer 17.4, Golem 15, Chanur 11, Berek 8, Urol 1

Berek: Enlarged
Daerith: Torothalion is +3
Daerith: Mirror images [5]
Wavedancer: Shocking images [5]
