Chapter Five - Tides of Dread

The first Savage Tide has already touched the mortal world, yet none who live today recall this terrible time of red ruin. It swept over an ancient city, transforming beggar and noble, merchant and thief, resident and visitor, one and all into feral, ravenous fiends. What took the ancients hundreds of years to build came crumbling down in a matter of days. When the final ripples of the tide faded, only ruins remained.

Now, after a thousand years, the hidden architect of the Savage Tide gazes upon new targets. This time, the doom will not be limited to one hapless city. This time, all of civilization is perched on the shore, blissfully ignorant of what the tide is about to bring in.

Re: Planning for the Defense of Farshore

Daerith remains behind with Lavinia, and doesn't leave her side all night. He does find Tolin and the Jade Ravens and offers his sincerest gratitude to them for getting the Blue Nixie safely to Farshore, and for all their efforts and work while the Sea Wvyerns were being shipwrecked. Then however, he just retires with Lavinia. His time away from her has steeled his resolve to be with her, and he makes many a coy advance to her, suggests he stay in her room, "you know, to protect you" but will ultimately abide by her wishes, for one more short amount of time.
Daerith looks to get some with Lavinia, life is too short, even for a elf, and he could get eaten alive by a T-Rex tomorrow after all. He only consents to wait until after the election, for political reasons, but tries to get to promise after that (if not right now) they will become officially a couple.

Also: BATH, Wine, Food, clean his gear normally, then some prestidigitation (but there is something about REAL soap and water)...

Berek is thirsty and will seek out a drink
"I'm thirsty!" Berek states plainly before finding a local to guide him to the next bar.

Fin's mood has soured from all the business with Manthalay Meravanchi. He remains quiet for the rest of the evening and retires as soon as the group reaches the manor.

Chanur would never agree to help subjugate the Olmani. He knows the Wyvern's wouldn't either with out even asking. They are good people everyone. Before the group starts to leave Chanur mentions "Why doesn't Amella take the pirate ship tomorrow and go pick up our passengers. There is no reason to leave them there until we can get the materials to make our repairs. I'm sure there are enough capable people here to man an impromptu crew. " Turning to Amella "You could drop us off and come back for us in a day or two once they have been rescued. It will save time and lives plus give more capable hands for shoring up the cities defenses."

After listening to a few reactions and everyone starts to break off from the group Chanur smiles at Liamae in a I'm happy to see you way. "Avner we would love to have you join us if you want. " Then leaves with Berek to get his thirst quenched. As they depart Chanur comments " Dangerous jungles, Islands of Death, and man eating wildlife. Just another day in the life of a Sea Wyvern. Come on Amella let's get a drink and relax for a bit. I want to hear some more blasphemous talk from our dwarven friend." The captain chuckle and puts his arm around Amella and Berek.

No reason the NPCs cannot rescue our comrades while we slay dragons. She is capable.
On another note I've grown fond of Avner. He's capable and brave and positively saintly compared to his uncle.

Meanwhile, Back In Farshore

Post by Trogdor » Tue Feb 24, 2015 9:31 pm

Daerith, Lavinia, Berek, and Fin all watch the Blue Nixie cast off and sail off to reclaim the Sea Wyvern. They watch until the people on deck are no longer recognizable, at which point they turn and head back to the town. There are still a great many tasks to perform here before the Crimson Fleet arrives, not the least of which is making sure that Lavinia is elected mayor.

Got confused with the thread change! Sorry
Daerith spends the rest of the night going over what is and isn't done in Farshore and what should be done next. He works with Berek and Fin and Lavinia to make sure the people are directed to finishing the towers, get training with Berek, and that Fin sees to the needs of their faith and hope. He yawns as its getting late, and looks at Lavinia wanting to spend some time alone with her. So he makes up an excuse and kicks the others out so he can do that.

Bright and early he will start the campaign to get Lavinia elected starting with those men and women she points out are still uncertain about her....

There is a great deal to be done in Farshore - Daerith knows that all too well. But it will wait for one night. He and Lavinia have been parted for too long, and they need to get reacquainted. The two have dinner alone on Vanderboren House, and stay up long into the night. But there is no need for this narrative to interfere with their privacy.

By morning, both Daerith and Lavinia are ready to go. There are people to be spoken to, plans to be made, and workers to be organized. It's hard to say where to start, but the two know they have to start somewhere.

Daerith takes stock of the town with Lavina in the morning, he's in a particularly good mood, and after breakfast and dressing he is looking over her maps. "Why don't we start with a walk of the town, let the people see us both, get a feel for the place, where we need to be seen and who needs to see us."

Daerith and Lavinia take a morning stroll through Farshore, making contact with the people and getting a feel for how things stand. Most people are happy to see them, even those who support Lord Meravanchi in the election. Farshore is a generally peaceful place. A good number are particularly happy to see Daerith, for his presence means that the Sea Wyverns are not dead and will be there to help defend the town. After the help the heroes gave in the first attack, the colonists have come to appreciate their prowess and what it means for Farshore's defense.

The bulk of the workers in town are currently working on two more watch towers. Once these are completed, the town will have six of them, and with them protection in all directions. For these towers will both allow for early warning of the attack, and give defensive locations to fire arrows and bolts down on the invaders.

Unfortunately, in addition to the workers, Daerith and Lavinia can see Avner out and about chatting with the locals. No doubt he's singing the praises of Lord M and explaining how he'd be a much better mayor than Lavinia. The problem is, while the man can be an ass, he can also be incredibly charming, in his way. In the absence of anyone else campaigning, he's bound to tilt the election toward his uncle.

The two can see that there are still many things that can be done. But there will never be enough time to do all of them. They'll have to prioritize and get as much done as possible. The real question now is which will they turn to first.

"Avner...why didn't we send him off with the others to get the Sea Wyvern?" He scowls at the thought of the man, then strides toward him to see what sort of damage he can undo. "Berek should be out soon to start work on training the militia and perhaps Fin can improve the infirmary or the chapel. If there is time I'd be interesting in looking into the stolen items, perhaps we can win votes by showing we can keep the law."

Daerith waves, "Avner, good morning!"
