Prelude - Rockmaw Run: Heart and Hammer

The Age of Magic is ended, Bhall, the Goddess of Fire, has succumbed to the whispers of Agares and fallen into Hell. Her worshipers and creations driven mad, and fire, which has been a powerful ally to man, has turned against him. Each good god was charged with the opposition of an evil god. Bhall was responsible for balancing Mulcarn, the God of Winter. Finding himself unopposed Mulcarn has broken The Compact and moved into Creation.

Creation was on the verge of another open war between the gods, that which they had outlawed with The Compact. To keep that from happening a deal was struck and the gods agreed that one god would enter Creation to challenge Mulcarn. That was Sucellus, the God of Nature. The two gods battled across the face of Creation, entire civilizations still recovering from the Burning Skies that marked the fall of Bhall were destroyed by their power. In the end Sucellus was killed and Mulcarn remained.

The Eternal Winter has begun...

Round 1 Initiative: Torrak 23.5, Templar 13.0, Torias 7.2, Orcs 6.0

Buffs and Penalties
Orc #1 Staggered
Orc #3 Staggered
Torias skids in the graved to a halt, grimly he looks on as the Orcs dive down the Run to attack. He unslings his sheidl and slips his arm into the cross pieces that hold it firm. His heavy axe comes off his belt as well, even as he's chanting and praying to Kilmorph for protection, "Crafter, Maker, and Protector. Forge for me you loyal servant a shield of faith, and protect me from the blades and arrows of my evil foes!" A warm red forge light glow washes over Torias as he feels the blessing of his god come over him and answer his prayers.
Torias: ready Axe/Shield, Pro Evil on Self
Then the Orcs attack.

The staggered Orc holding his groin from the terrible blow, meekly and pointlessly swings his flachion at your Templar guardian, the swing hits the shield of the Templar with barely enough force to even scratch the paint on the surface. "Run cur! You stand no chance against us!" Opening his shield and dropping his defensives the Templar boasts a moment, and a moment too soon. The other unhurt Orc leaps forward, seeing the opening, and with a howl, chops into your guard's shoulder with his jagged blade. The banded mail suit of armor is rent wide open, plates and leather are shreded and so is flesh, tendon and muscle. Driven to his knees the Templar howls in pain, his arm going limp, and his shield banging on the ground still held on by its straps. Blood gysers from the wound, and the face of your guard goes as pale as some Icatian moneylender, yet, somehow, he's still alive!
1 (Staggered, -1 HP): Attack Templar 9 Miss
2 5ft, Att Templar 'œ20' ( Crit: 21) Critical Hit for 16 Dmg! Templar @ 1 Hit Points (Thank Kilmor for Toughness Feat!)
The other orc, staggered and dizzy from the blow from Torrak's staff right on his head reaches out with his own weapon, poking listlessly with the large blade. The nimble dwarven monk side steps the feeble attack with ease.
3 (Staggered, -1 HP) 12 Miss
The other orc in the back, actually is holding the crossbow that killed the scout, and he drives the weapon's head into the ground, slips a bolt into place and cranks the arm reloading the weapon. Then he moves behind the lines across the field and plants himself on some of the rocks and rubble. The weapon aimed for Torias, using the rocks as a shelf to brace. He starts to take aim, but doesn't fire yet.
4: Reload, Move

"To me brother," Torrak roars as he creeps his way over towards the fallen templar. A quick look at the guard's injuries and the monk's face grows dim. "Fear not kinsman," Torrak eventually adds solemnly, "For if we are meant to enter the afterlife, we shall all do so together!" Torrak then turns towards the wall of orcs that now stands before him and yells aloud as he whirls himself at them, his body a flailing barrage of fists, staff, and feet...

[Orcish]"Prepare to DIE you worthless curs!"
5 ft. step West and then perform a Flurry of Blows; the 1st attack on O3 and then the second on O2.
Amidst his acrobatic display, the monk suddenly warns his brother. "Torias, look out! Sniper to the left!"
Torrak is of course referring to O4

Torrak roars as he creeps over toward the kneeling Templar. He rallies the Templar as he attempts a flurry of strikes to take down the staggered Orc and his comanpion. Slipping on the loose gravel on the trail Torrak barely manages to stay on his feet. His staff flails about wildly but he eventually spins it, uses it at a crutch and pushes himself back up to standing. The opportunity to clonk the orcs is past as he rights himself.
Torrak: 5ft, Flurry of Blows 'œ1' (Fumble: 13) Miss! Close to a Fumble / 12 Miss

Bad luck that round.
The Temple smiles up through his helm, "I'll be waiting in the mead halls for a long time Torrak. Do not disapoint me and show up too quickly." He spins around, standing and striking in one motion. His hammer hits the staggered Orc in the face, shattering its nose, jaw, teeth, and skull. The Orc goes flying backwards slamming into the rock and skidding to a halt five feet backwards from where it was, very much dead.

Torias moves quickly, keeping his eyes on the sniper and staying behind his shield. Then he presents his holy symbol: "May the Crafter grant you strength to fight on!"
N, N. Use my Shield of Faith to cast CLW on the templar.

Ooops I made a mistake. I forgot dwarves get +1 Attack vs Orcs! That means Torrak's 2nd hit in the Flurry of Blows landed, and dealt 4 Dmg to #2
Just moments before Torias moves up, Torrak takes a cheap shot with his elbow and cracks the nearby orc in the chest knocking the wind from it. Then Torias moves up quickly, clanking as he does. He calls on the Crafter's healing power and blesses the Templar with healing power. The rush of life fills the Templar's body as his wounds heal over giving him a second lease on life.
Torias: Move, Spon Convert (Shield of Faith) CLW = +6 Hit Points
The orcs, now down one member, continue their push to fell the dwarves. The swords of the Orcs swing at the Templar and Torrak. Shield lifted high the Templar blocks one of the blows aimed for him and pushes the weapon back. At the ssame time Torrak hooks his staff on the arm of his foe, and spins, the move parries the attack leaving him unharmed. At point blank range now the crossbow wielding Orc fires at Torias's left side, and the bolt slams into the shield held there, the tip punching through the wood all the way until the tip sticks out the back, but the Cleric is unharmed.

[Orcish]"That's the spirit brothers," Torrak bellows proudly as he continues his acrobatic assault, "Drive these motherless dogs back to the very hell that spawned them!"

The bald-headed dwarf continues whirling his staff and dancing about wildly as he speaks. Having finally found himself a proper new footing, the tattooed warrior then launches himself into another frenzied barrage of punches, kicks, and/or staff-swings upon one of the orcs.

[Dwarven]"Get up here brother and help our kinsmen! No time for heroics...Formation tactics...ALL on one! Let's end this squabble...NOW!"
5 ft. step N and then a Flurry of Blows on Orc #2. I should now be just east of him, standing on top of Orc #3's dead body!

Torrak shouts and encourages his kin in the language of the Orcs so the beasts can understand him. He has his footing and rolls north a few feet right over the dead body of one of the broken orcs. His foot lashes out hitting the orc on the armored shin and doing it no harm, but a quick follow up with an fist to the nose cracks and breaks the nose of the orc, and sends his staggering backwards a few steps. Blood poors from the orc's face spraying its armor and clothing. The eyes of the beast are crossed from the sinus pain and it can't see straight for a bit.
Torrak: 5ft N, Flury of Blows #2: 7 Miss / 16 hit for 8 Dmg! Orc Ferocity kicks in (Staggered).
"ARRRRGHH!" The Templar brings his hammer up and then down, like a carpenter driving a nail into a coffin. The hammer hits the skull of the orc and kills it. The body drops to the ground in a heap so fast that for a blink of an eye no one is sure where the orc went, then you see it laying there dead and twiching on the ground.

I thought he had moved up to the bodyguard?
When the bolt strikes his shield, Torias thanks the Crafter, whose holy scriptures he has diligently painted on the shield in very small fonts.

Torias grinds his teeth as for the first time in years, he feels the age-old hate for ork-kind fill his veins and he hollers out a fierce warcry: "For the Crafter" with that, he moves up to one of the orcs, holds his old dwarven waraxe up high and slashes at the orc.
Move so I am just S of Torrak and attack orc.

Yeah, you should be just 1 square SE of the Horny Pot-bellied Dwarven Love Gimp Looking Templar. A simple 5 ft. step N would put you just below me!

Ooops. Yeah my map is bad. You were SE of the Templar. Now you are S of Torrak. I'll get a good map up on my return.

Torias thanks his shield and his diligence in writing the script of protection on it. He steps up from behind the Templar and swings his swarven waraxe into the throat of the orc. His war cry echoes among the stones of the Run as the head of the orc flops backward, its neck nearly cut through and through, but a thin flap of skin still holds the head to the body. It topples backward, sprays an arc of black blood all over the Cleric's brother Torrak as it kills the orc.
Torias 5ft, Attack #2: 22 Hit for 7 Dmg! DEAD
The last Orc drops its crossbow and draws his falchion. It leaps forward with its weapon in both hands and clashes with the Templar's shield. The shield dents, a heavy diviot in the metal, but the Templar pushes back and is unharmed save a sore shield arm.
