Act 3 - Carnival on Ice

The Age of Magic is ended, Bhall, the Goddess of Fire, has succumbed to the whispers of Agares and fallen into Hell. Her worshipers and creations driven mad, and fire, which has been a powerful ally to man, has turned against him. Each good god was charged with the opposition of an evil god. Bhall was responsible for balancing Mulcarn, the God of Winter. Finding himself unopposed Mulcarn has broken The Compact and moved into Creation.

Creation was on the verge of another open war between the gods, that which they had outlawed with The Compact. To keep that from happening a deal was struck and the gods agreed that one god would enter Creation to challenge Mulcarn. That was Sucellus, the God of Nature. The two gods battled across the face of Creation, entire civilizations still recovering from the Burning Skies that marked the fall of Bhall were destroyed by their power. In the end Sucellus was killed and Mulcarn remained.

Nessa waves at the pale Elohim but remains behind the group, behind Dreams to be precise. She watches the elf move to the trees. Some other introductions are made but Beltarion sort of ignores them as he moves to one of the trees. He has a small jug of ointment and smears some on one of the trees and backs away.

You stand and watch, and over the course of the next few minutes the tree begins to transform. The branches shrink and the leaves fall to the ground or 'ungrow' back into the woody surface. The largest tree limbs become shaped more like human limbs and the thick bark begins to fade and become more flexible, more pliable, like skin. After a few minutes a man is standing there, mug in one hand, other in the air as if he was shouting and having a good time. His skin takes on the woody appearance of a Barkskin spell but then even that fades and he collapses to the ground and drops the mug. Gasping, as if for air he cries out, "By Lietbur! Thank you!" He pants on his hands and knees in a bit of shock but wholey recovered.

Wilfried mumbles a short prayer when he sees the magic paste is taking effect. The magic of the fey is truly capabale of powerful magic the large man muses.

Dreams lets out a sigh of relief, glad that Baltarion's cure for the curse has worked. Tension she didn't even realize she was holding in her body begins to disappear. She waits for him to turn the other trees back into people.

Celevan nods and lets out a deep sigh of relief when the first townsperson is transformed back to human form. "Thank you Beltarion," he says as he moves over to help the relieves townsperson to stand up. "Do you feel okay?" the summoner asks the man as he gets to his feet.

The man looks fatigued, "My arms are stiff, but I'm alright." He motions to leave him sitting there for a moment more. "I need a moment." He's going to be sore and tired for a while yet.

"Perfectly understandable," he says to the man. Then he looks around for some chairs or benches or even stools - anything that will keep people off the cold ground. "Let's get something for the people to sit on once they're transformed," he calls out. "They've spent enough time stuck to the frozen ground."

Dreams says, "I think there's going to be quite a lot of them. I guess we can lay out our cloaks on the ground for them to sit on, though that probably won't be enough for everyone." Nonetheless she does so--with the boots of the winter lands on, she is unconcerned with the cold. "Maybe we should bring them to Laurel's so she can look them over and make sure there's no lingering side effects."

"A very good idea" Beltarion says to Dreams, "We have no idea what condition each person will come out in, though I'm glad that the first is safe." Moving on, Beltarion continues to apply the cure to each tree one by one and letting the others tend to the people, unless there is an issue that is clearly visible.

Harvest Time: The People are Saved

Post by Vardaen » Fri Mar 15, 2013 9:56 pm

Over the course of the next hour Beltarion moves from tree to tree applying the fey made ointment to the victims of the Dark Ice Fey's magic. One by one the people of Falcon's Hollow are returned to normal. Some of them are worse off than others, a few have terrible wounds where fellow lumberjacks had broken off a branch or hit them with an axe. These ones Torias and Dreams tend too with magic patching them up and easing their suffering. About half way through Beltarion reaches the smaller tree that is Gunner and he applies the paste and the sapling turns back into the young boy. Nessa wraps her arms around him, tears in her eyes, "I told you drinking was bad for you!" The siblings laugh with one another and then Gunner slumps to the ground exhausted where Torias tends him.

All in all the people are saved. No one fails to be saved, and even the badly wounded are alright ad Beltarion lends his own healing to that of the Elohim and Kilmor. You are showered with praise and thank you's from everyone and by supper time the carnival grounds are empty once more as the people return home to their loved one, or empty houses as the case may be.

You are waving good bye to the last pair of lumberjacks and so turn to speak with the new Elohim Beltarion. Only your small group, including Ness and Gunner, remain here out in the cold empty field.
