Act 4 - Cold Marrow Expedition

The Age of Magic is ended, Bhall, the Goddess of Fire, has succumbed to the whispers of Agares and fallen into Hell. Her worshipers and creations driven mad, and fire, which has been a powerful ally to man, has turned against him. Each good god was charged with the opposition of an evil god. Bhall was responsible for balancing Mulcarn, the God of Winter. Finding himself unopposed Mulcarn has broken The Compact and moved into Creation.

Creation was on the verge of another open war between the gods, that which they had outlawed with The Compact. To keep that from happening a deal was struck and the gods agreed that one god would enter Creation to challenge Mulcarn. That was Sucellus, the God of Nature. The two gods battled across the face of Creation, entire civilizations still recovering from the Burning Skies that marked the fall of Bhall were destroyed by their power. In the end Sucellus was killed and Mulcarn remained.

The Eternal Winter has begun...

Re: Down Goes the Troll

Torias looks astonished as the troll goes down, then at the axe he has just enchanted to be more effective. But for now, he does not have to use it. The dwarf shrugs. "Have you found anything, Dreams?" he calls out.

Wilfried heaves a side of relief as the troll falls dead then looks down his side to the massive gash caused by the trolls attack. The sturdy half orc merely flinches and joins Dreams and Torias.

Fifth and Final Piece

Post by Vardaen » Thu May 15, 2014 9:10 pm

Dreams moves to the Frostling Bugbear and starts to search him. He was holding weapons and the like, but tucked into a pouch, slung around his neck is something interesting.

She removes a a wand crafted of red clay, the handle made to appear like and eruption of lava before tapering roughly to a rounded point at the tip. Clearly magical in nature, this looks to be the fifth and final piece of the Panalopy that you were looking for. Apparently the Frostlings beat you to the punch here.

Dreams holds up the wand and says, "It looks like we got here just in time. If they had gotten away before we arrived and we'd had to track them ..." She shakes her head. "Well, the gods were with us and we did not have to try that." She looks back at the cave. "It might be wise to go into the cave and search it nonetheless. We might find something that tells us more about the wand--or there may be something else of value there." She looks to Torias. "Now that we have these relics, does Uzmila's Codex give any clues about what we do with them? Aside from keeping them out of the hands of the frostlings and other servants of the Winter God?"

Torias sees that Will is hurt. "Anyone else hurt?" Anyway, he gathers everyone around and invokes the power of Kilmorph. "Crafter, use your hammer and anvil to mend us, and use the earth's blood to heal our bodies!"

Then he thinks about the codex.
Channel 3d6. Then he thinks if there are any hints in the codex.

Channel +12 Hps

Celevan Full
Suli Full
Dreams 45/48
Torias Full
Wil: 37/55
Barga Full
Torias gathers the group and channels the healing power of The Smith through you. Like a hammer on an anvil repairs a sword, Toria's prayer repairs your body. Wil remains badly hurt still but the res are feeling perfectly fine.

Dreams moves to the cave to inspect it and finds it a large cavern, it appears at the far back there was once a sort of natural stone alter but the Ice Troll smashed it all to pieces to get the Wand. She sifts through the rubble but there is nothing left, nor any clues on what to do next. The Frostlings made sure to destroy anything inside so others looking would not be able to find anything.

With all five pieces now Torias considers the Codex. He will need more time, there is some passages, but up till now he was focused on decoding the location of the pieces, the fact they even existed. What to do with them will take some time.

"It will take some time to figure out. If I am correct, she is using 14 different code systems here (or more), and I have only deciphered three, plus two more in parts. And then, even if we can read this, she is not exactly writing very clearly and explicitely. But with the five pieces here, I might have enough hints to do some more work on it. Let us look at the rest of the cave first, and the rest of the things these frostlings have. It might give us some information on their intentions." Torias adjusts his glasses.

"I've already check the rest of the cave," says Dreams. "If there was anything else there, the frostlings destroyed it, though I suppose it can't hurt to search their bodies. But we should get back to town as quickly as possible. Not only do we want to avoid having these items fall into the wrong hands, but that Ilian Seer will be paying a visit to town. We should warn them that she is coming, to give them time to reflect on her offer."

Wilfried still bruised and battered nods slowly.

"Shall I seek out a refuge for the night? We could stay in the cave, or try to return to Ulizmila's hut."

"If you think we can make it back to the hut before sunset," Celevan says, then by all means we should leave this place. But if it's too late for that, then I think we're better off holing up in this cave for the night rather than finding ourselves in the Cold Marrow after the sun sets."
I'm not exactly sure what time of day it is now.
