Act 4 - Cold Marrow Expedition

The Age of Magic is ended, Bhall, the Goddess of Fire, has succumbed to the whispers of Agares and fallen into Hell. Her worshipers and creations driven mad, and fire, which has been a powerful ally to man, has turned against him. Each good god was charged with the opposition of an evil god. Bhall was responsible for balancing Mulcarn, the God of Winter. Finding himself unopposed Mulcarn has broken The Compact and moved into Creation.

Creation was on the verge of another open war between the gods, that which they had outlawed with The Compact. To keep that from happening a deal was struck and the gods agreed that one god would enter Creation to challenge Mulcarn. That was Sucellus, the God of Nature. The two gods battled across the face of Creation, entire civilizations still recovering from the Burning Skies that marked the fall of Bhall were destroyed by their power. In the end Sucellus was killed and Mulcarn remained.

The Eternal Winter has begun...

Ice Troll!: Round 4

Post by Vardaen » Mon May 05, 2014 9:52 pm

Wil: Huh, I read that like 3 times, and somehow continued to think it was a barbarian not a ranger ability. So with the rage removed, he still connected both times last round, and still managed to kill 2 Frostlings. Fixed the sheet.
Round 3 Dreams 16, Celevan & Suli 16, Wikkawak 15, Snow Goblins 13, Wil and Barga 11, Frostling Troll 10, Torias & Spiritual Weapon 9

Round 4 Dreams 16,
Celevan & Suli 16, Wikkawak 15, Wil and Barga 11, Frostling Troll 10, Torias & Spiritual Weapon 9

I italicized Wil and Barga, they posted, but don't act just yet.
Torias moves through the snow, he is the only one not Hasted, but he manages to reach Wil. As he does he calls on a prayer for the Half Orc, giving the trapper a boosed defense in the form of a holy shield of Kilmorph. Torias's spirit hammer moves to the troll and clubs it on the shoulder. The wound begins to almost instantly heal itself.

Dreams then takes off, calling on Junil and Lugus for protection she runs past the troll and the Bugbear with the good grace of the gods making her impossible to swing at as she does. Stopping directly in the face of the Wikkawak she swings her blade and hacks a serious wound through its mid section!
Torias: Move, Shield of Faith on Wil (+2 Deflection Bonus to AC)
Hammer Attacks Troll: "20" (Crit: 10) Normal Hit for 5 Dmg

Combat Round 4
Dreams: Swift: Grace (No AoO vs Dreams this turn), Move (Hasted + Boots), Attack Wikkawak:: 26 Hit for 8 Dmg

Note: You can't take 2 swift actions in the save round unless you sacrifice a move action for the second one. So Grace works, but not Smite Evil yet.
Celevan and Suli, a breath before the enemies...

Ice Troll!: Round 4-5

Post by Vardaen » Tue May 06, 2014 9:16 pm

Round 4 Dreams 16, Celevan & Suli 16, Wikkawak 15, Wil and Barga 11, Frostling Troll 10, Torias & Spiritual Weapon 9

Round 5 Dreams 16, Celevan & Suli 16, Wikkawak 15, Wil and Barga 11, Frostling Troll 10, Torias & Spiritual Weapon 9
Celevan, hasted, moves south plowing through the snow. He gets within range and summons another massive bat that appears right over the Wikkawak. The dire bat attacks down on the Frostling, but the bugbear manages to dodge the attack aimed at his head this time.

Suli in the mean time flies in high and bites the troll on the ear ripping the ear clean off! The wound is bleeding for a few moments, but then quickly stops.

The Wikkawak can see there is no running, "No matter! The Seer will have her prize!" He swings his morningstar at Dreams who parries the slow attack with ease. It would seem the Frostling may be wrong. For right at that moment Wil pops a wand out of his sleeve, taps Barga on the back with it, and the wolf charges south through the snow with ease. She leaps on the bugbear and drags him to the ground burying him in the snow as she rips open a nice wound across his back.

The Ice Troll then throws his axe into the snow as you watch its ear regenerate and grow back almost all the way in a blink of an eye. Howling it attempts to bite Suli, but the dragonfly is nimble and dodges. Two more claws swing one after the other attempting to grab hold of Suli but the magical protection on the Eidolon is impressive and Suli could likely do this for a long time as he dodges both claws.

Torias and his Hammer...(and Dreams)
Celevan: Move, Summon Dire Bat
Suli: 5ft Power Attack Troll 24 Hit for 14 Dmg
Dire Bat: Full Attack Bugbear 8 Miss
Wikkawak: Full Power Attack Dreams 12 Miss

Wil: Wand Sheath: Draw Wand, Use Featherstep on Barga, Put away Wand
Barga: Move Attack Bugbear Flank: 26 Hit for 8 + Trip: 23 Success, Trips Wikkawak

Dreams calls out, "Junil and Lugus guide my hand!" and strikes at the fallen wikkawak. She is not taking any chances with him getting away with what is most likely the artifact they came looking for, plus she is possessed by a cold fury at the frostling, remembering the death of her betrothed at the frostlings' hands.
Swift Action: Invoke Smite Evil vs. wikkawak.
Full Round Action (Haste): Two attacks vs. wikkawak.

Back again. Barga will move back to get into the Icetroll. A move should prolly allow for an attack plus trip. Wilfied will move and bite th troll sucking up the AoO.
With only one foe remaining Wilfried and Barga move to confront the massive beast.

Round 5 Dreams 16, Celevan & Suli 16, Wil and Barga 11, Frostling Troll 10, Torias & Spiritual Weapon 9
Wil moves forward, he leaps at the troll but as he does the thing smacks him upside the head. The blow would kill a lesser man, but Wil is no man, he's Half Orc! So fighting through the pain he bites into the side of the troll drawing blood. It's cold, ice cold and tastes terrible. Then Barga comes charging from the south, she leaps at the Troll as well and grabs its knee in her mouth and pulls, Wil pushes to help and the Troll topples to the ground in a crash of ice and snow that rises up like a dust cloud for a moment.

Celevan and Suli...(plus the bat!)
Wil: Move [AoO: Troll:22 hit for 10 dmg!] 21 Hit for 7
Barga: Move, Attack Troll: 21 Hit for 5 Dmg, + Trip 23 vs 23 success!

Down Goes the Troll

Post by Vardaen » Wed May 14, 2014 7:07 pm

Round 5 Dreams 16, Celevan & Suli 16, Wil and Barga 11, Frostling Troll 10, Torias & Spiritual Weapon 9
Celevan looks at the troll and moves closer and closer to it. He starts to summon another creature. As he does the dire bat vanishes from the field of battle. Suli, hasted, strikes at the troll two times, his bite cuts open arteries that start to spurt but the troll is regenerating. Still Suli is unrelenting and the wounds knock the troll to the ground unconscious. It is already starting to heal however. That is until Celevan finishes his summoning. A small fire elemental appears behind the prone troll and instantly goes to town on the troll burning the wounds and slaying it outright with its flaming fists.
Celevan: Summon Small Fire Elemental
Suli:[Haste] Full Attack vs Troll 19 Hit for 9, 19 Hit for 10
Fire Elemental: Attacks Troll: Fire Dmg It Dies For Real
Well that does it. The fire elemental can end the regen effect long enough for it to be dead. Combat over.

"Well," says Dreams, standing over the wikkawak's corpse. "Let's see what he was trying to run off with." She reaches down and extracts whatever it is he was fleeing with from his hands and looks at it.
