Act 9 - Chimera Cove

The Age of Magic is ended, Bhall, the Goddess of Fire, has succumbed to the whispers of Agares and fallen into Hell. Her worshipers and creations driven mad, and fire, which has been a powerful ally to man, has turned against him. Each good god was charged with the opposition of an evil god. Bhall was responsible for balancing Mulcarn, the God of Winter. Finding himself unopposed Mulcarn has broken The Compact and moved into Creation.

Creation was on the verge of another open war between the gods, that which they had outlawed with The Compact. To keep that from happening a deal was struck and the gods agreed that one god would enter Creation to challenge Mulcarn. That was Sucellus, the God of Nature. The two gods battled across the face of Creation, entire civilizations still recovering from the Burning Skies that marked the fall of Bhall were destroyed by their power. In the end Sucellus was killed and Mulcarn remained.

The Eternal Winter has begun...

Nate briefly considers yelling something cliche such as 'don't be a hero!', but in case things go bad he really doesn't want that remembered as some sort of last words said before someone dies. Instead he responds, "Got it!" and changes his target to Poltur.
If I have a line on Poltur, spend a full-round action using the 'Targeting' class ability, making 1 attack on his Legs (Legs: On a hit, the target is damaged normally and knocked prone. Creatures that have four or more legs or that are immune to trip attacks are immune to this effect.).
- No Deadly Aim or anything, want the full +18 to Hit.

If I have to do a Move Action to get a clean shot at him, use my Standard to do a Deadly Aim attack on Poltur after the Move.

Round 2 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Poltur 19, Torias 5

Round 3 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Poltur 19, Torias 5

Waiting on Torias before I post for Poltur
Nate reloads with another of his alchemical loads. He takes a knee, levels his musket and braces. He waits to fire, waiting as Poltur moves across the chamber and perfectly into view. BOOM there is a flash and smoke and Poltur takes a tumble down onto the ground his leg badly struck by the shot. He's not going any place too soon.

Dreams, hoisted up into the air turns his blade around and like a dagger she stabs with it down into the serpent's coils several tikes opening up bleeding wounds that cause it to thrash about, but its far more stalwart than expected.

Torias, and his Spirit...
Combat Round 3
Nate: Rapid Reload, Targeting Polur Legs: 27 Hit for 12 Dmg + Knocked Prone
Dreams: Is Being Grappled: Attack 18 Hit for 21, 20 Hit for 24 = 45 Dmg

With a quick movement of his hand, Torias directs the spirit ally to move behind Poltur (if possible) and attack him. Then, if the way is free, the bald dwarf moves up to Poltur and slashes at him with his large axe.
Swift: Move Spirit to behind Poltur, it attacks. If it cannot, the spirit just closes to melee range (flying, immune to weapons) and attacks.

Move: If possible, Torias moves up to Poltur.
Standard: Attack Poltur with axe, maybe flanking with spirit.

The Dragon - Fluxhold: Round 2-3

Post by Vardaen » Wed Jun 09, 2021 8:11 pm

Round 2Nate 28, Dreams 24, Poltur 19, Torias 5

Round 3 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Poltur 19 Snake, Torias 5

Round 4 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Poltur 19, Torias 5

Toris moves his spirit up toward Poltur, it moves through the air and lands behind him, even as the dwarf moves slowly over the narrow beams crossing the room. The dwarf was never fast, nor agile and it takes all his skill and some luck to cross the room without falling into the water below. He just reaches Poltur as Nate fires on him. The spirit attacks but Poltur dodges.

Then Nate's shot knocks him down, but Poltur kip ups and returns to standing avoiding the attacks from dwarf and spirit and stabs Torias in the shoulder with his rapier right through a chink in the armor. He smiles, "I'll take you down dwarf!"

Then the massive snake finishes coiling around dreams, it must be 20 feet long or more, and it now wraps completely around her pinning her arms and weapons to her side. Its squeezes and her armor starts to crack and crunch... then suddenly it retracts back up into the watery teardrop taking Dreams with it! She's inside the floating water... effectively underwater. She holds her breath but for how long?!?

Torias, Nate and Dreams...
Combat Round 2
Spirit: Moves and Attacks 17 Miss
Torias Double Move

Combat Round 3
Poltur: Kip Up: 29 Success (stands avoids AoO), Attack Torias: 26 Hit for 9 Dmg
Snake: Construct 14 Dmg, Pin: 35 vs 26 - Pinned. Meaning Dreams can't attack only try to break out. Hoists Dreams into the Teardrop: DROWNING!

Dreams takes a deep breath, then struggles to break free from the serpent's grasp. She feels panic rising inside of her, but she mentally chants prayers to hold it at bay.
Golly, gee. What action should I take this round? I guess I'll try to break free before I drown ...

Torias only glances back at Dreams for a moment. She would have to hold out for another few seconds. He focuses on Poltur, for now, hacking at him with his axe. "I'm a dwarf, you moron, I like 'down'!" The spirit ally also uses his axe.
Spirit: attack Poltur
Torias: full attack Poltur.

Dreams did say to take care of Poltur first ... and now she's drowning while wrapped up by a serpent. Well, that's no good. But the serpent doesn't seem to be going anywhere, whereas Poltur's treacherous ass is a lot more mobile. Well, sucks to be him then. Time for more boom-boom.

The Dragon - Fluxhold: Round 4-5

Post by Vardaen » Fri Jun 11, 2021 7:06 pm

Round 3 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Poltur 19, Torias 5

Round 4 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Poltur 19, Torias 5

Round 5 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Poltur 19, Torias 5

Torias and his Spirit move about, flanking but the Spirit sweeps its axe into the wall and sends its self sweeping away several feet missing wide and ruining the whole thing. Torias manages to slice Poltur in the shoulder. That's when Torias notices another spirit in the chamber. There is an old man half inside and half outside the wall -- clearly some sort of ghost or apparition. There is a striking resemblance between the young man and the old man -- family! Then Nate opens fire and peppers Poltur in the chest with his mystical firearm blasting the enemy backwards into the passage. Poltur falls back into the darkness, and for a moment you think maybe he's managed and escape, but Torias turns and looks down at him. No, he's dead, very very dead, no miracle scape this time.

Dreams struggles against the massive 20+ foot long or more constrictor. She can't break free, and it may take a miracle for her to do it on her own. Her breath isn't the danger here, though it is hard to hold being squeezed and fighting as she is. The massive snake takes no notice yet of Poltur's death and just squeezes. Dream's armor cracks in on her chest and its all she can do not to scream.

Torias leads the counter attack...
Combat Round 3

Torias: Attack 23 Hit for 9, 17 Miss
Spirit Attack "1" (Critical: 18) Critical Miss, Rest of Turn Lost

Combat Round 4
Nate: Shoot Poltur: 27 Hit for, 29 Hit for, 15 Miss: Cluster Shot: 35 DEAD
Dreams: Break Free: CMB 19 Fail
Snake: (Dreams 1st Round Holding Breath), Constrict 18 Dmg [Dreams @ 14/84 HP!]

The Dragon - Fluxhold: Round 4-5

With another sweep of his axe, Torias inicates the spirit's next opponent, the snake.
Torias then moves towards the snake.
Not sure about the distances. Is the snake above us? Can Torias reach/attack it? Can he touch Dreams?
If he can easily touch Dreams, he touches her and casts a spell of protection.
If he cannot touch dreams but attack the snake with his axe, he does that, swinging at it with all his might.
If he cannot attack either, he casts a spell at the snake, causing several spears of ice to shoot at the snake.
Swift: Redirect Spirit ally to attack snake.
Move to the snake.
Standard:
a) Either touch Dreams and cast "Protection from Evil" on her, so evil summoned creatures cannot touch her and their natural weapon attacks automatically fail.
or b) Attack snake with axe if the snake is in range
or else c) Cast Holy Ice/ Ice Javelins and shoot them all at the snake.
Holy Ice Javelins: The spell creates a number of javelins of frozen holy water in your square equal to your caster level (maximum 15), which hurl themselves toward one or more targets that are no more than 10 feet away from each other. You must succeed on attack rolls (one per javelin) to hit the target with the javelin, using your base attack bonus + your Wisdom modifier. The javelins deal 1d6 damage each, plus 1 point of cold damage and 1 point of damage from holy water. The javelins are destroyed by this attack.
