Act 9 - Chimera Cove

The Age of Magic is ended, Bhall, the Goddess of Fire, has succumbed to the whispers of Agares and fallen into Hell. Her worshipers and creations driven mad, and fire, which has been a powerful ally to man, has turned against him. Each good god was charged with the opposition of an evil god. Bhall was responsible for balancing Mulcarn, the God of Winter. Finding himself unopposed Mulcarn has broken The Compact and moved into Creation.

Creation was on the verge of another open war between the gods, that which they had outlawed with The Compact. To keep that from happening a deal was struck and the gods agreed that one god would enter Creation to challenge Mulcarn. That was Sucellus, the God of Nature. The two gods battled across the face of Creation, entire civilizations still recovering from the Burning Skies that marked the fall of Bhall were destroyed by their power. In the end Sucellus was killed and Mulcarn remained.

The Eternal Winter has begun...

The Dragon - Fluxhold: Round 4-5

Post by ManWithDoor » Tue Jun 15, 2021 10:41 pm

Nate grunts in satisfaction as Poltur goes down, pretty sure with that much raw damage the man is down for good. Looking back to Dreams, he pauses for a second to take in the tactical scene. He's never really shot into water much. First of all there's no real need to, and second it's a waste of perfectly good ammunition. A spear or a net is all you need for hunting, after all.

Well, there's a first time for everything. Aiming as best he can, he carefully starts firing again.
Assuming that the Snake has bad touch AC, although the intervening water might be causing some penalties to attack or concealment to ranged attacks. Still, going to continue with Rapid Shot / Deadly Aim, against the snake.

The Dragon - Fluxhold: Round 4-5

Post by Vardaen » Mon Jun 21, 2021 6:56 pm

Round 4 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Snake 19, Torias 5
Round 5 Nate 28, Dreams 24, Snake19, Torias 5

Torias moves with his spirit, for now the best option seems to swing through the watery year into the snake's belly. Both him and the dwarf spirit strike, each hitting with an axe blow that causes the blue water droplet to start to turn crimson instead.

Nate reload and positions, and fires, but he can't see through the watery, and there is a chance he shoots Dreams so he's hesitant. His shows just sort of go wide and blow off some portions of water, but none of the snake.

Dreams struggles mostly in vain, she's outclassed here. Then suddenly she's falling! The snake lets go and recoil up into the upper reaches of the suspended water droplet. Dreams falls out of it through the room and splashes into the pools below. It would see the creature is more worried about living than it is fighting you, and you pause a moment, as Dreams struggles in the pool to grab the sides, and you seem safe enough for the moment.

Spirit: Attack Snake through watery tear drop: 20 Barely Hits for 5

Combat Round 5
Nate: Lather Rinse Repeat through watery tear: Concealment from range (98, 3 Miss, 85): 16 Miss, Miss, 14 Miss
Dreams: Grapple Break: "1" (Yeah not likely!)
Snake: Drops Dreams and retreats up out of sight into the water
Dreams falls into pool

The combat is over unless you pursue further battle.

"Ok, lets get everyone healed first." He intones: "Earth to earth and blood to blood, Make whole what has been broken!" A burst of healing energy emenates from the priest, and everyone feels better. Then Torias touches wounded with his wand to make them feel even better.
Make sure the snake is not in range, then channel energy 5d6. Then use the wand of CLW with 11 charges to heal up everyone.
Then Torias walks over to Poltur and searches him. "I wonder what he was planning..."

Dreams sits a moment at the edge of the pool, panting, wearily looking up at the snake to make sure it doesn't attack again. After Torias heals her, she says, "Thank you," and slowly gets to her feet.

In response to Torias' question, she says, "As I recall, he was planning to raise an undead dragon turtle to start a campaign of piratical terror. Hopefully, we stopped him--but we should make sure there is no undead dragon turtle ready to wreak havoc."

Nate carefully approaches, his firearm continuing to point at where the snake went. If the monster is willing to leave them alone he has no further quarrel with it, but he wants to be careful. "Lets search Poltur's body, see if we find anything informative. And just because he's dead doesn't mean the danger is over. Other people might still be hard at work bringing down disaster. And like you said, undead dragon turtle. Doesn't sound friendly."

The Dragon - Where To Now

Post by Vardaen » Thu Jul 15, 2021 6:27 pm

Channel, and ALL 11 Charges of the CLW wand get Torias Full and Dreams down 6 from Max. Some crap rolls

Torias Full
Nate Full
Dreams 78/84
Healing takes place, the snake remains hidden, its instincts tell it that if it attacks its dead, and its too much enjoying being alive to do that. So it doesn't rear its head again against you.

The body of Poltur is searched as the healing is taking place and you find a few items of interest, which between your various magical spells and knowledge decode to be....
bracers of armor +2,
gloves of dexterity +2,
ring of protection +1,
+1 keen rapier,
cloak of resistance +1,
mwk hand crossbow and 10 bolts,
dagger,
belt pouch holding coins worth 100 gp and six gemstones worth 50 gp each

Updating Loot Sheet
Nate scouts the passages quickly as well, north the passage lets out in to channel but its blocked with rubble, you won't be sailing a ship down that way any time soon. To the northwest the channel opens up beyond the rubble, and with the water at the low level you could take it, likely to the 3rd and final Isle of the Goat. To the south the passage moves into a more man made set of tunnels, that give you feeling of a maze or dungeon that fills the bulk of the Isle of the Dragon. IF the goal is to find some Dragon Turtle, it won't be to the south.

The Dragon - Where To Now

Post by Muskrat » Thu Jul 15, 2021 10:01 pm

Dreams says, "If we're dealing with a dragon turtle, undead or otherwise, it's most likely under water. We should sail around the island and then head to the remaining island. And we should ... drag an anchor or something through the water to see if it catches on any giant zombies? I really wish we had some potions of water breathing right about now."
