"Crew moral can wait, the return of the captain comes first" he replies with a determined look. "We should bring the ship into position as the captain ordered"
What do I know about the seneshall Nathin Tsanthos?

Melvust thinks. Tsanthos is the ship's seneshal, so he is responsible for protocol and administration. He also has his hands on the vast monetary funds the Trask Dynasty posesses. But he is basically a scholar, who knows a lot of things. He also has some knowledge of technology, almost as much as any tech-priest and while normal techs only understand the basics of the ship's ancient archeotech drives, he seems to know as much about them as Melvust.
He is also good friends with the Missionary, Ardus Helum.
He has been a loyal servant and officer on the ship for years.

Melvust takes Tsanthos a bit to the side and explains briefly the situation.

"It seems that they were mutineers, our own armsmen! Somehow they managed to install a remote bomb at the gellar fields. They did not talk much, the only condition they had was to move the ship away from the plannet. If I remember correctly they said something about that it was cursed and that they were coming for us"

Melvust gives the old scholar a second to think about it.

"There might be more of them!"

"Yes, that might be true. I will inform the bosun and the rest of the armsmen as soon as possible. Or do you have a better suggestion?"
Hierarchically, Melvust and Nathin are on the same level, but with Nathin's command skill and more years of service made him commander of the bridge in the captain's abscence. But of course, he will be happy to do as Melvust says if it is a reasonable suggestion."

"I would not inform the armsmen yet, or at least not with the full truth. There might be more of them!

Let them still believe it was a xeno attack and reinforce the security on vital spots on the ship. In the meanwhile would should check the background of the killed mens, it may give us a hint. "
Maybe there are some records about the mutineers? Any relationship, friends, or where there in the same unit?

Melvust nods good bye to Nathin and walks over to the guardsmen's barracks. He gets some files from the Bosun and flips through them, researching on the mutineers.

It seems they were all from the same planet, recruited five years ago on Scintilla. The files say they mostly kept to themselves, talking to others when necessary. They seemed to be loyal and good fighters, but they seemed to grow ever gloomier and more sullen after repelling a pirate boarding action on the Sabre just about two weeks ago. They fought well then, killing many pirates. But after the battle, they seemed different.

Melvust continues to investigate further. Are there other crew members from the same planet or anyone else who seems to act strangely since the pirate attack?

If possible Melvust would also check the personal belongings of the armsmen, maybe he'll find there a hint?

Melvust finds nothing special amongst the things the mutineers possessed. Of course, there are more crewmembers from Scintilla as this is one of the main planets in the adjacent Calixis sector. Many ships have crew from Scintilla. They all seem to have worked at a bar, as bouncers before signing the contract with the Trask Dynasty.

Melvust is tired of the search, even more as he couldn't find a clue or hint about the mutineers. Uncertain what todo next he decids to go back to Nathin and ask him about the pirats attack from two weeks.

On the large bridge screen now Nathin and some other crewmembers can see that the guncutter is approaching - first it was attacked, but the other ship turned away soon and disappeared in the clouds.
"They are coming" Nathin says. "Let us hope they found something on the surface."
They will be here soon - we were waiting for them and then you can all meet.
