Sorry for my absence lately. As some of you may know, my dad has Parkinson's, and has been suffering from Parkinson's dementia for several years now. Well, he's recently taken a turn for the worse and we've put him on hospice. Even more recently, he's taken a greater turn for the worse and the hospice people are saying that he may pass away within the next week. (That is, unless he bounces back like he did the last time - you just can't tell with these things.)

He's in a good place now where they keep him comfortable and he's well taken care of. Most of the family is in the area, so he's got plenty of visitors to keep him company. Mostly, he just seems to be fading away.

But for obvious reasons I've been a bit distracted lately. GMs please do what you have to with my characters. Hopefully things will stabilize (for better or worse) in a few weeks.

We already spoke, but I will reiterate my sympathies, and Tet's comment, if you need something let us know.

That sounds really rough. You have my deepest sympathies.

It's a real roller coaster. He has his bad days and the hospice people tell us to expect the worst. Then he'll have a good day and we have to wonder if this is a sign of better things to come or if it's just the calm before the storm. They told us to expect the end relatively quickly, but now he's had a couple of positive days and we don't know what to think. We had a similar scare back in December when he caught a norovirus and he was fading. We worried whether he'd make it to Christmas. But then he bounced back and did fine for four more months. Right now we're just in limbo, keeping him comfortable and keeping him company.

But thank you all for the kind words.

Missed this. Hope the rest of his time, however long, is well-adjusted and peaceful. Best wishes.
