Book 1: Act 4 - Against the Stag Lord

Enter the Stolen Lands, a wilderness claimed by nobles, bandits, and beasts alike. Into this territory the fractious country of Brevoy sends its emissaries, tasking them with subduing the lawless folk and deadly creatures that have made it a realm of savagery and shame. Beyond the last rugged frontier stretches the home of voracious monsters, capricious fey, wily natives, and bandits who bow to the rule of a merciless lord none dare defy. Can the our heroes survive the Stolen Lands, bring their dangers to heel, and lay the foundations of a new kingdom? Or will they just be one more fateful band, lost forever to the ravenous wilds?

Akiros stands and helps with the chests, for his part he says nothing about wanting a cut of the ill gotten gains. "I had heard rumors about the man. A few bandits had been sent down there to heal really bad wounds they had gotten. From what I was told it was the Stag Lord's father, a real sob, just like his son, I guess its true, the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree."
We can take the loot chat to the loot threads, and post claims on the sheet. The items were from the Stag Lord mostly, funny they are just now getting mentioned.

Leveling up will be coming, I'll check into that now.

"Does not matter now he stands before Ole Deadeye in judgement." He levels his gaze at Akiros. "We should get everything loaded and return. Do you two have horses?"

As Arenhal brings the horses around Valen goes to Harvest stroking her nose and whispering sweet words into her ear.

The half-elf quietly loads the pack horse, he doesn't care about Erastil's judgement, the man is the gods' issue now, and Arenhal is far to practical to worry about his fate. "Anything else we should be worried about around here?" this to Akiros, then to Cal, "And we still haven't brought those trade goods to the kobolds."

The bandits have plenty of stolen horses and a wagon or cart as well that can be loaded up, hauling all the stuff back won't be hard to do. You have the cart loaded up and your own horses collected in short order. Akrios confirms there isn't much more in the area, nothing dangerous at least, as the bandits were keeping such trouble ay bay. Only the hill and the undead that live under it is of any concern.

"This place should be safe enough for a few weeks," Cal suggests. "The reputation of the Stag Lord should keep what few people there are around here away from his fort. We can come back before too long to make the place look occupied. But Arenhal is right. We need to get back north to report on the Stag Lord's demise."

Erastus 7th: Returned to Oleg's Trade Post

Post by Vardaen » Mon Sep 10, 2012 9:30 pm

** Five Days Later, Erastus 7th, Late Spring, Oleg's Trade Post **

It has been five days since leaving the Stag Lord's fort along the lake to the south. Travel has been not as fast as you might have hoped. A wagon loaded with gold and treasure, as well as a prisoner, tends to slow you down over hilly terrain. Two days after leaving the fort you ran into a small scouting party of kobolds from the Sootscale and you managed to make peaceful contact with them once more, despite Auch's attempts to 'squish them into jelly'. Your diplomacy netted you some trade with the goods you had collected for them, and some friendly feelings between the two groups (save Auchs who pouted for a day for not getting to 'grind them into sausage'). A few days after that you spotted a Thylacene sniffing out your camp, but a few tossed pieces of meat to the dog like animal, and some kind words from Valen kept things with the beast from turning into a fight.

So it is you find yourselves rolling into Oleg's Trade post five days after defeating the Stag Lord. His corpse, wrapped in a few tents, is starting to stink, and Falgrim has been complaining about it for the last three hours as he's tied up in the back of the wagon with the body. It is dusk, the light is fading, and the torches on Oleg's wall burn bright and welcoming. You roll up through the gate to find Kesten Garess and his men drilling in the yard with spears, sweat covering their bare chests. Svetlana sits on the benchs nearby watching, while Colban and Oleg aren't seen and must be inside.

Kesten doesn't allow your arrival to interrupt him yet, "Again! One two three thrust!" his men step forward and thrust their spear at invisible targets.

Svetlana on the other hand jumps up and calls across the courtyard, "Welcome back! Welcome back!" She hoists her dress up over his ankles and hurries to meet you.
We can just chit chat in the loot sheets about the kobolds, and assume a building of good relationships with them.

Welcome home, we are REALLY close now to the end of the chapter, I'm going to check for Level up info.

Cal hops off the cart as it gets into the courtyard and gives the lady of the fort a great big smile. "Great news, Svetlana," he says. "We've defeated the Stag Lord and made these lands safe again! The bandit threat is ended at last!" Then he calls out for the others. "Oleg! Kesten! Jhod! Colban! News in the courtyard!"

Lem is all smiles when they return to Oleg. Especially the sight of Svetlana and the thought of her cooking are making him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He would have preffered getting rid of the stag lords corpse at Nettles crossing but the direct route seemed more convenient so they will have to take care of this on the morrow.
why didn't we go past Nettles crossing?

Valen enters the out post and a smile spreads across his face. When they are full into the court yard he gives Harvest a scratch behind her ear and climbs down his scale mail clinking softly. He leaves his bow strapped to the saddle.

Valen waves and the lovely woman smiling. "The Elk Fathers blessing on you Svetlana its good to be back!" The young priest gathers around Cal calling their "guests" over as well.

Arenhal gathers the leads of the horses, smiling at Svetlana and nodding his head. Once again he has returned to his taciturn nature. Arenhal seems to agree with Lem about the body, but one more night unburied won't harm it.
