"Do they have another exit up there?" Cal asks. "If there's one thing we learned fighting the last spiders it's that when you try and burn them out, it just makes them run away. Any chance we could try and circle around to find out if there's a more convenient entrance than this chimney?"

The well-read spymaster's ears perk up when Garuk mentions ettercaps. "There has to be Cal. Anything I've ever read on them, they would scout another den rather than traverse that air shaft as their only means of ingress and egress."

That finishes things up in the caves. You make sure you've collected as much as you can, and cleared out as much as you can. Gathering yourselves, Garuk puts his armor back on, and checking wounds, you head out of the Owlbear cave and into the hills. It takes about half an hour, but you spot it, another entrance on the back side of the hills, its hard to see with a sheeting of webbing over the entrance partially blocked by trees and brush. You figure it right, that has to be the cave entrance with the ettercaps inside. If you didn't know it should be there, you'd likely have missed the entrance.

If Invisibility has run out, he'll cast it on himself again as well as on Aetoron and Ylyndar (and Cal if his first casting is still running). Then Protection From Evil on everyone but Lady (he'll cast Shield of Faith on her). Finally, and after anyone else throws up buffs, he'll attempt to stealth in and attack the closest Ettercap.

Invisibility is only 1 min/level. So it's certainly given out by now, since it's been a half hour. But don't worry, Cal has Vanish. That'll do just as well for the beginning of the fight. Alas, Cal is all out of third level spells, so no Haste.

Cal will Cast Protection from Evil on himself (freeing a casting up for Lady, if Garuk wants), Shield on himself, Mirror Image on himself, and right before they head in, Vanish.

Aetoron draws his blade and mace while Garuk casts a spell of invisibility upon him. Whispering to the others as he starts to move toward the cave entrance, "Steel your nerves and let us end this quickly."

The group finds a nice quite place and starts to cast various protections and other spells on themselves for the anticipated attack. It has to be done just right with all the shorter term spells and the invisibility.
Prep Rounds
Round 1 - 4
Garuk: Pro Evil (Garuk, Aetoron, Ylyndar), Shield of Faith (Lady)

Round: 5-8
Garuk: Invisibility (Garuk, Aeotorn, Ylyndar)
Cal: Pro Evil (Self), Shield (Self), Mirror Image (Self) (3 Images)
Aetoron: Draw Weapons
Ylyndar: Draw Weapons

Round 9
Garuk: Stealth
Cal: Vanish
Aetoron: Stealth
Ylyndar: Stealth

Garruk had 4 slots at 1st level open, so happens as you see above.

Also assuming your "Look here we are!" light spells are off
You creep up to the curtain of webbing and foliage, and spring your ambush on the poor unsuspecting Ettercaps.
Round 1: Ylyndar 18, Ettercaps 18, Cal 16, Aetoron 12, Garuk 12, Caveweavers 7


Since you are all invisible you can have a full round, not just a surprise round.
