Re: Character Generation Discussion
My friend pre-ordered a copy for me as a birthday present (and also got one for himself), but I won't see him until probably Saturday! Gah! So evil. Want to read. From the changes he commented on, it definitely seems to streamline everything, which is a plus.

The Ninja tag now actually does something.
Well, one of two things, depending on what your GM decides.

Re: Character Generation Discussion
So it's 180 XP sans disadvantages for chargen?
Also how do you feel about the Forced Retirement Disadvantage Mindwright. I was considering picking it up and would play it as I've been dropped by my clan cause I'm too old but that won't stop me from fullfilling my duty to the Emperor. Although I was planning to be a Hiruma Rank 4 so the mechanical penalty wouldn't really apply as intended...

Yes. Character creation will use a total of 180 XP plus a maximum of 10 points in disadvantages. Advantages are limited to 15 points total, or require my approval.
Forced Retirement will work, in back story you should be retired to a Temple in Toshi Ranbo in order to remain close to and interact with the unit. It means you'll never receive the training for Hiruma rank 5, but you will gain a rank in a Monk order if you advance in rank during the game. (Not sure if that will happen or not yet.)
You should choose the Monk order you have been joined, though you do not yet have ranks as a Monk.

Re: Character Generation Discussion
So I have the mechanics finished but haven't written my background yet. I hope I'll get too it soon but I'm currently rather busy with both my M.A. thesis and job applications.

Re: Character Generation Discussion
I wouldn't mind reviewing the mechanics portion, I want to compare it to the other submission and see if I'm on target experience-wise.
