Opening Volley
Round 1 Heroes, Enemies

Round 2 Heroes, Enemies

I wasn't going to allow opening volley, but I was convinced otherwise for a few.
The moment an orc appears at the stair top Dobomar throws Skullsplitter. The axe bangs off the armor of the creature causing it to pause and howl with flailing arms. It pays for that as Faladril puts an arrow into its gut! Still alive, for a moment, it grabs at the arrow, then is hit in the head by Arwen's arrow and it falls down the stairs. The rest of the horde pours down them at Dobomar and Athelstan who hold the passage.

Faladril fires off again but his arrow shatters on a iron plate one orc wears. The front line of the orcs crashes against the dwarf and Rohirrim who both drive their weapons into the orcs' flesh. The maul of Dobomar cracks a skull and shatters it, slaying the beast, while Aeglin, the glowing sword stabs another in the heart and sends it toppling dead into the growing pile.

Behind your battle Kalek sizes up the wall and points, "Saelirneth, there! Its weakest there!" Both dwarf and elf alike slam the pick axes into the stone and break and crack the rock. The wall gives way in large pieces and good progress is made to start.

The orcs press down on Dobomar and Athelstan, but both man and dwarf holds the line. Shield and maul block and parry, they duck and dodge, and for the moment are unhurt by the evils of the orcs.

The company presses the attack....

The dwarf reacts to the goblin upon him, roaring out a yell as he swings his hammer overhead and tries to crush the first of the horde to lock itself in hand-to-hand combat with their party. Dobo has no inspirational words, only the effort of his attack will speak for him this day.

Seeing his eye was right about the wall, Kalek pushes the advantage and takes another powerful swing.

Round 2 Dwarves, Other Races, Enemies
Kalek and Dobomar strikes at the same time. Each at a different target.

Dobomar's maul connects with the face of one of the large orcs bearing down on him and he drives its nose guard and nose up into the skull and brain of the orc. While they aren't known for using their brains much, they are still critical organs for the creatures, and the shattering of its face slays it. The corpse falls with a splash into the water that lightly covers the floor.

Kalek's pick connects with the wall, a harder point than before, and a smaller hunk breaks off. A soft weeping of fluid seems to cover part of the wall where the dwarf guide just broke it away.

The rest of the fellowship...
Dobomar: Defenseive: Attack: Rolled: GANDALF Success Die: 4,2,1,6t Totaling: 13 with 1 success with 1 Auto Success = 23 + Piercing Blow = Dead
Kalek: Mining: Valour 4 + Tunneling + Bonus + Rolled: Feat Die: 4* Success Die: 2,4,5,5 Totaling: 20 = 2 Successes

Not spending time on anything else, Saelirneth continues to pick away at the wall, hoping to break through soon and have a way out before the defenders are overwhelmed.

Faladril just keeps firing at the approaching orcs as fast as he can, hoping to slow their advance long enough for Kalek and Saelirneth to break a hole in the wall.

Athelstan uses his strength to keep his shield up and pushes against the orcs, hacking down at the closest one with his ancient, glowing blade.

Round 2 Heroes, Enemies

Round 3 Heroes, Enemies
Faladril draws and fires at one of the orcs on the stairs, his arrow grazes its side lightly wounding the black beast.

Aeglin is brilliant in the hands of Athelstan and even as he shifts into a defensive stance to hold his ground the Man from Edoras stabs the blade into the heart of an orc and it drinks its life from it. The orc topples over into the growing pile.

Saelirneth remains steadfast at the wall, she slams the pick into the stone inches from Kalek's and the tool breaks through! There is a sudden burst of water as one striking a dam that is holding back a river. A gout of water sprays forth and nearly knocks the pair from their feet as the wall around it gives way more and more against the pressure of the flood. In seconds the floor of the chamber is now a foot deep in water and there is no sign the flow will stop, nor is there any hope of plugging the hole in the dam!

Then orcs, like the water, pour down the stairs swinging at Dobomar and Athelstan, and a few atop the stairs fire crooked bows down at Arwen and Faladril. Dobomar holds but one of the orcs scores a lucky strike with his sword chopping down on Dobo's helm and ringing the dwarf's bell. An arrow graze's Faladril's shoulder as well as he suddenly is accosted by the flooding water from the broken wall behind him.

The group...
Sael: Mining: Valour 3: Rolled: Feat Die: 9* Success Die: 6t,1,6t Totaling: 22 with 2 successes = 3 Total Success

Are there any exits or tunnels higher up on the walls, or openings in the ceiling?
Kalek steps back from the opening they have created, puzzled as to why his fellow Dwarves died trying to open a way for water to enter the chamber. He scans the room above looking to see that if the room fills with water, whether they will be able to find another way out.
