Chapter 3 - Part 2: Military District

A deadly storm shipwrecks the passengers and crew of the Jenivere upon infamous Smuggler's Shiv, an island off the coast of the jungle realm of Sargava. If they're to have any hope of escaping the notorious pirates' graveyard, the survivors will need to band together to outwit the isle's strange beasts and legendary menaces. But can the PCs unite the swift-to-squabble castaways, especially when several seem to have mysterious goals of their own? And does Smuggler's Shiv hide secrets even deadlier than its desperate denizens?

Charau-Ka Fortress: Watering Hole

The monkey men hoot and wonder, they look at you, "Meet with King? Yes yes, he will meet with you. Put weapons down, away, no outsider takes weapons to see the King. That is deal. When we get close, you put down weapons. Or. Oooo ooo oo, Or you turn around and go-go away." The Charau-Ka all seem to agree that seem reasonable to them as the Ooot and Eeek loudly among one another.

"Well, what do you two think?" Eleanor asks of her companions, speaking Taldane (Common) now. "I am unsure..."
Sense Motive: Do I get the feeling these monkey people are going to double-cross us if we go with them?

Nzame responds in Taldane, his affect flat.

"I don't like our chances if things go badly with the King and we're unarmed."

"Very well, let us go," Eleanor says to Nzame, also speaking in Taldane. "And then we talk to the Pathfinders and consider our options?"

The Monkey men hoot and oot, they start to bounce and bound about, agitated as you speak. "Come come, you go see King now! Come!" Then one of them gives a loud eeek eeek eeek, and is jumping and motioning wildly at the general location of your hidden companions!

"Spies! Spies!" One shouts and all of them draw weapons and set themselves for a fight. "You lie! You liar! All you hairless are liars! Never trust any of you!" The jab and stab the air in wild motions. You are on the edge of a fight, your next comments or actions will determine the outcome here.

"We will not go to see your King now. We will return to our camp and deliberate on the matter," Eleanor said, trying to smooth things over. "I do not trust strangers any more than you trust us - which is why one of our own has been watching for our safety. You are in no danger, so long as you leave us be. If it is agreeable, we will return here at a time we can determine in the future - later today or perhaps tomorrow and bring a representative to speak with whomever you may bring."
A bit more long-winded than I wanted to be, but we'll call that a diplomacy check. My intimidate bonus is much higher, but that doesn't feel right. :P

Oruss frowns at the monkey-men howling and pointing his way. He looks down and sees one of his buckles has caught the light, and he silently curses himself. This canopy overhead makes the shadows inconsistent. Oh well, one can't control everything. He keeps his position, ready to start shooting if it comes to that.

Charau-Ka Fortress: Watering Hole

"Oooooot!"

The Charau-Ka look at one another, and a bit befuddled by all the talk. They jump up and down, sway side to side. They stab the air and holler. "Go! Come back tomorrow, when sun is highest! If the King will see you, then that is when you come." He tabs one of his companions and ooots and eeks in some pattern and the monkey man turns and races away deeper into the ruins.

The others looks a bit disappointed they don't get to slay you now. "Go go, now, before I change mind!"

"Many thanks."

Nzame's Polyglot response is followed by a Taldane remark.

"Best to do as they say."

He moves to leave the ruin.
