Book 2 - Act 4: The Treasure of Mancatcher Cove

The shipping lanes of Golarion's seas and oceans are filled with fat merchant vessels laden with trade goods both mundane and exotic, as well as the pirates and freebooters who prey on them. Under the banner of their Hurricane King, these buccaneers sally forth from that archipelago of lawless pirate ports and anchorages known as the Shackles, plundering the shipping of countless countries and trade consortiums, then vanishing back into the maze of islands and reefs they call home. The nations of the Inner Sea would like nothing more than to end the pirate menace once and for all, but the eternal hurricane known as the Eye of Abendego has thus far shielded the Free Captains of the Shackles from the threat of retaliation.

In the Skull & Shackles Adventure Path, the PCs take on the role of pirates, but they must make a name for themselves in piracy, plunder, and disrepute to truly become infamous Free Captains of the Shackles.

Throne Room: Loot the Bodies

Post by Vardaen » Wed Oct 09, 2019 3:20 pm

The looting begins, one thing pirate are good at is looting. The chamber and the corpses are quickly looted. The concubines have little on them beyond some coral jewelry. The chieftain however has more, including several potions of healing as dark as squid ink, a masterwork set of shark scale armor, a magical trident that Rod has experienced all too well, an eel leather and coral war harness worth a bit, a deep platinum necklace worth a small fortune.

Beyond the western seaweed curtain is Krelloort’s personal bedchamber, containing a seaweed bed, a few personal items, and a long iron rod that once served as a handle for a capstan. Among the personal items in Krelloort’s bedchamber is gold-plated conch shell engraved with images of sea elves and hippocampi that holds a selection of putrid fish and humanoid livers (a sahuagin delicacy), a gilt tattooing kit that he uses on his slaves and concubines, and a burnished brass hand mirror. In the seaweed bed there is also a gold Varisian music box (no longer functional) that holds the ivory image of a dancing harrower. Inscribed on the underside of the lid are the words “For my darling Isabella.”

Behind the eastern curtain are the chambers for Krelloort’s two favored concubines. Seroneth takes her take and searches the chamber with extra thoroughness. Her shearch reveals that a hollow space lies beneath the massive throne. Seroneth leans on the throne and realizes it will take a great deal of strength to move it. The throne is huge, and must weight several tons.

"There is a hollow space beneath the throne," Seroneth says, beckoning to the others. "There may be some way of gaining access, perhaps a hidden panel or something?"
Detect magic around the throne and hollow space. Does there appear to be a way to access it, or is it just an alcove under the throne?

(also, someone should check that passage to the NW). ;)

"We could also try to pull together, using a rope? The water makes moving things easier. We will want to make sure it's not connected to the cavern or anything."

"Can't we just smash it?" Breaking anything belonging to the frogmen sounds like a grand idea.

"It's an artifact of the ancient cyclops empire of Ghol-Gan. Nasty business," Seroneth explains. "Might be worth something if we could get it out of here, but I'm not sure how."

"They weren't us, so I wouldn't be too hopeful." Flavinia grimaces. "We did run into these fellows here and they are tough bastards. Were tough bastards"
"We're tough bastards." Rod replies.

Later he also searches the throne for any hidden mechanism. "There must be some way to open this."

"And you want to take it with us onto the ship?" Flavinia remarks with a grimace suggesting she does not believe that to be possible.

Xie looks at Vinnie a slight grin on his face, "Oh Vinnie i am sure that if we put our heads together we can figure out a way to get this on the ship."

Rod is still thinking of the other group. While searching the throne, he muses: "We did not find any traces of them down here. Maybe they went into the other eye, up on the island."

The throne is so large you doubt you could get it to the ship through the narrow tunnels, but it got in here, so it must be able to fit. Magic may may it easier. However just leaning on it, proves it will be hard to move. The space under the throne is likely some sort of passage, and if you have any hopes of finding out what's there you'll need to at least push it some distance. Meri suggests a rope and pulling, so for the moment you try that tying a rope off around the throne, and everyone getting on it, or behind the throne to push. Rod doesn't find any sort of lever or switch, but there is room to make your own fulcrum or to use a crowbar maybe.

The group tries and tries, and fails to move the throne.
Strength Check: I'll let everyone attempt with the rope to assist making space for all of you.
