since I failed the awareness check, do i know the orcs are coming over?

Assuming I do, since you said we all get a reaction post, but wasn't sure
Borir spots the orcs and yells, "Orcs! At the gate!" The dwarf jumps down and rolls on the ground to slow his momentum from the high (for a dwarf) jump. He then lifts out his axe and begins to rush towards the gate where the orcs have breached.

Trog is busy again I believe.

Battle Rolls:

Aerth: Gandalf + 5 = 1 Bonus Die
Borir: 5+4+2 =11 Fail
Pipkin: 8 = Fail

Total Battle Bonus Dice from all sources
Aerth 3
Borir 2
Pipkin 2
Varuthil 2
Wren 2
Borir is late to the party, spotting the orcs after Pipkin shouts to him about them. Neither Hobbit for Dwarf are able to position themselves in an aedvantgous location before the horde is over the wall. Aerith on the other hand hops up onto the ramparts of a section of wall giving himself a good view of the oncoming horde.

The Fellowship, spread out in a semi circle around the gate watch as almost a dozen orc soldiers have scaled the gate and wall and now are charging into the fight. Luckily for you most of the Fellowship have bow and arrow, and an opening volley fires off....

A few arrows rain down on the orcs as they drop down onto the ground over the wall. Aerith's shot misses its mark but Pipkin with a bit of luck manages to stick one right in the belly! The little hobbit's aim is either very good, or he's very lucky as the orc howls in pain grabbing at the arrow in its stomach and yanking it clear. Fear fills its eyes realizing this gate isn't so undefended as it first thought.

Wren bends his woodland bow faster than most, and fires off two shots into one orc striking both of its legs with grazing shots that rip across its exposed flesh along the lower legs. It staggers forward tripping from the wounds. Over its head Varuthil fires an arrow into the side of another of the twisted orc warriors lightly wounding it.

The horde now charges forward, spear and bucklers in hand, they make to throw their weapons at those of the Fellowship with bows, and Borir is rushed by several bolder orcs.
Opening Volley! Since I don't want to delay so everyone can just post "I shoot it" here we go....

I'm assuming you spend Hope for successes at this point. Don't forget in your post mention if you want to spend Battle Dice.

Aerth: 2+1+2 = 5 Miss
Pipkin: 10+1+4=15 +Hope 5=20 vs TN16 Success, Piercing Blow, Protection Test: 2+6t+4+1=13 vs TN 14 + Hate Success, 5 Dmg (It now has 0 Hate and is going to run because its a coward)
Var:5+2+4=11 +HOPE 6 = 17 vs TN16 Success, 5 Dmg
Wren:6+3+3+1=13 + Hope 6 = 19 vs TN16 Success, 5 Dmg
Wren: Woodland Bow 2 Opening Volleys: 7+2+1+4=14 + hope vs TN16 = Success: 5 Dmg
Fellowship: Remember stances, the ranged guys go last, the more forward guys go first.

Remember Battle Dice and Hope

Aerth, from his advantageous position, frowns at his miss. He does not let that disway him, though, as he quickly pulls another arrow and places it against the string. He aims and fires again.
Stance: Rearward
Shoot Orc #3 (Battle Die + Hope)

Varuthil knocks another arrow and looses it at one of the badly wounded orcs, hoping to put it out of commission. As she does so, she calls out in Sindarin, "Flee, servant of the Enemy! The elves are upon you!" She doubts the orc understands what she is saying, but he should understand the language--and she hopes that will strike fear in him, given that the orcs were ambushed by the elves outside.
Rearward stance.

Bow2 + Battle Die + Hope vs. Orc #2 (or if it's finished off, #3). (If we don't stop these orcs, we won't have much hope in the coming battle.)

Battle die use justification: Intimidating the orc by shouting in Sindarin.

Round 1Varuthil, Aerth, Pipkin, Wren, Borir, Orcs
Aerth is perched up high, and has a good view of the field. One of the wounded Orcs is howling and making shouts as it bleeds. Aerth draws back his Shepard's Bow and launches and arrow at great speed into the skull of the Orc. The shaft pierces through both of the ears of the orc, removing all of its ear wax (not to mention slaying it outright). The orc howls a moment longer then topples over dead.

Varuthil shouts at the Orcs herself, taunting them in Sindarin which they do not understand. But she hones in on another of the wounded and fires off a shot as its trying to decide what she's saying. That distraction is enough. Her arrow strikes it in the chest, right into the heart, and it is thrown back into the dirt dead instantly.

Borir, Pipkin and Wren, with nine foes still before them and closing...
Aerth: Battle Die 1: 4,1,6t,6t=17 vs TN16 = Extraordinary Success: 5 + 8 + Shepard's Bow Bonus 4 = 17 Total = DEAD

Varuthil: Battle Die 1: 10,2,2,3 = 17 vs TN 16 Success. Piercing Strike: Protection Test: 9 vs 14 Fail! WOUNDED + 5 Dmg, DEAD

Both hits made possible by the Battle Die!

Borir watches Aerth's arrow fly by and topple over the orc. "You're not going to have fun back there with the bow," he says as he heads forward.

As he picks up speed, he hefts his axe high above his head and helm and shouts "Baruk Khaz'd!" Getting within striking range of the Orcs, he brings the axe to bear against the closest target with his goal of taking out as many as possible.
Stance: Open
Action: Attack Orc2
Spend point on Attack

Just realized I should have used Enemy Lore to get bonus on Orc strategies/tactics... I keep thinking its only +hit bonus, but it's actually lore/know trait

Round 1 Varuthil, Aerth, Borir, Pip, Wren, Orcs
Borir shouts back to Aerth that the woodman won't be having any fun back there as he charges the orc horde alone! The dwarf's legs carry him forward and he ducks under the reach of an orc's spear to plant his axe in the enemy's leg with a light blow that opens up a bleeding wound.

Pipkin and Wren....
Borir: Open Stance vs #4: Battle Die 1: 1,4,5,5,2 = 17 vs TN 9: Hit for 5

#2 is dead so I just moved on to the next un hurt one. Eventually I may have to consider generic maps for us so we can see better.

Wren curses himself for striking an orc with two arrows yet not slaying it. Seeing that Varuthil has finished what he started, Wren begins to move back in order to maintain the current distance between himself and the orcs. Sliding to a stop in the dirt, the elf raises his bow and lets an arrow fly.
Bow 3: Att #4, Battle die (considering it was needed by Tet and Muskrat, I'm not taking any chances)

Round 1 Round 1 Varuthil, Aerth, Borir, Wren,Pip, Orcs
Wren curses himself for letting his arrows leave one of the Orcs alive during the opening volley. He promises to do better, and to prove it he darts backwards then spins, sliding in the dirt he looses an arrow into the throat of one of the pursuing orcs felling it in a single shot.

Pipkin, with three dead Orcs already scattered around the gate...

Round 1 Everyone
Round 2 Heroes, Orcs
Pipkin has his bow in hand and he ducks behind a turned over cart and fires off at the Orcs. His arrow sales over the wall and out into the darkness of the night. Watching his arrow sail he notices yet another orc climbing up over the wall to join the fray even as another flees the battle in cowardice.

Then the horde charges, three are on Borir who stands toe to toe against them alone. The dwarf parries the first bent sword sent his way with his shield. Spinning he kicks another orc knocking it off balance forcing its blow aimed at him to go astray. Yet he's not fast enough against a third. It's curved blade makes contact withe his hauberk and sparks fly as blade rakes down his mail. Its nothing but a bruise, and doesn't pierce his armor, but the blow is strong and it makes him weary.

The other orcs charge forward and with spears in hand throw them at the various others members of the Fellowship. Spears slam into hay bales, carts, at the feet of the wall. None land in their mark or find home in your flesh but many of them come dangerously close to doing just that.

So the Fellowship counter attacks the orcs....
