Book 2: Act 1 - Words of the Wise

It is the year 2946 of the Third Age, and the lands east of the Misty Mountains are astir. From the cloud-shrouded peaks above the High Pass to the spider-infested gloom of the forest of Mirkwood, paths long-deserted are trodden once again. Busy merchants carry their wares to new markets, messengers bring tidings from foreign realms, and kings send forth armed men to extend their influence and the rule of law. Some say that a new age of freedom has begun, a time for adventure and great deeds to reclaim glories lost in long centuries of oppression and decline.

But adventures are not really things that people go out and look for. They are dangerous and rarely end well. While it is true that a handful of valiant individuals set out to make their mark on the world, for others it seems that adventure chooses them, as though it is the path they are fated to tread. They are restless warriors, curious scholars and wanderers, always eager to seek what was lost or explore what was forgotten. Ordinary people call them adventurers, and when they return successful, they call them heroes. But if they fail, no one will even remember their names...

From his position in the rear, Pipkin fires off another arrow, trying to stem the tide of orcs.

"Borir!" he cries out when he sees his friend hit.
Stance: Rearward (or whichever the bow shot one is)
Attack one of the rearward orcs with bow

Spend Battle Point
Spend Hope, as needed.

Round 2 Pipking, Other Heroes, Enemies
Pipkin remains in the rear and loads another arrow. He fires off at the Orcs nearest to the gate scared for his friend Borir who takes a heavy hit down his armor. The Hobbits arrow grazes the enemy's shoulder, a truly lucky shot that almost didn't hit at all.

The other defenders of Woodman Hall...

Borir straightens his helm and then proceeds to taunt the orc which hit him. "I'll show you how to hit. Take this, you orc scum!" The dwarf slashes with his axe at the creature.
Stance: Open
Action: Attack Orc 6 (the one that hit me)
Spend point on Attack

I need to look into something, seems every time Borir takes a hit, he's weary, not something good for a dwarf

Its an issue of too much Fatigue because of heavy stuff, and Endurance loss. He has the bonus of the dwarfy endurance traits which helps, but something is goofy with that I agree.
Round 2 Pipkin, Borir[/b], Other Heroes, Enemies
Borir, weary perhaps, but far from out of the fight, takes his axe and slams it into the chest of the Orc that struck him. His blow rents the armor of the black creature and it howls in fear and pain looking to make an escape after such a blow.

Wren, Aerth and Varuthil....
Borir: Weary, Open Stance, Battle Die (last one): Attack #6: 9,4,3,5,6t = 24 (the 3 doesn't count), Great Success = 11 Dmg

Now with some confidence back, Wren turns his attention to the orc just bludgeoned by Borir. "Let's finish him off!" He takes aim and hopes to fell another, in turn taking some of the pressure off of Borir.
Rearward Stance, Bow 3 vs. #6
Number Two: "You are number six."
Number Six: "I am not a number, I am a free man!"
Number Two: "Muh ha ha ha ha!"

Round 2 Pipkin, Borir, Wren, Other Heroes, Enemies
Wren, with confidence back, watches as Borir is swarmed. He considers shooting the wounded one, but it looks like it might flee. So instead he fires into another, and puts the arrow so deep into its armored chest that he pierces its lung slaying it in a single powerful shot. The orc topples to the ground behind Borir freeing the dwarf us a bit against so many foes.

Aerth quickly has another arrow out and at the ready. He scans the field and makes a quick decision to shoot one of the orcs around Borir. He launches an arrow after a short moment to aim, hoping to take down one of the attackers immediately.

Round 2 Pipkin, Borir, Wren, Aerth, Varuthil, Enemies
Aerth turns from the spear throwing orcs to the several that are surrounding Borir. The half elf takes aim and launches an arrow through the air that strikes the thing in the side of the head killing int with a perfectly straight shot. The orc topples to the ground dead behind Borir freeing up the dwarf against so many numbers.

Varuthil moves rapidly across the battle field to gain a better angle, then looses an arrow at one of the badly wounded orcs, hoping to drop it.
Rearward stance. Bow 2 vs. Orc #6. Use last Battle die and Hope.

Attack on Woodland Hall: Round 3

Post by Vardaen » Wed Jul 09, 2014 7:04 pm

Round 2 Pipkin, Borir, Wren, Aerth, Varuthil, Enemies

Round 3: Heroes, Enemies
Varuthil crosses the battle field, and with a better angle fires off an arrow that seems to fly through the air with slow motion. The shot strikes the wounded Orc in the eye socket snapping its head back and felling the black beast of Mirkwood. Even as the body strikes the ground, your eyes turn away from it.

Standing perfectly still and imperturbable in the middle of the fight is a white stag. How it came inside the walls, or where from, none can say. A blink of an eye later, it is gone but you are left with the impression that a longer lapse of time has passed. The fight beyond the walls seems to have shifted, and the Woodmen are pushing back the orcs at least a little finally.

The orcs continue to press, Borir stands alone on the road before the gate. He can not hold the wave of orcs at bay for long. As another joins the fight he finds that two foes are now engaged with him. His shield he holds high and blocks a heavy handed strike from the bent sword of the first orc. Then he knocks the blade of a second to the side as it charges him.

He finds he's not the only one under a furious assault, for one of the orcs draws his blade and charges Aerth. Borir can't hold it at bay, he's only one fighting toe to toe and the orc slips past him toward the Half Elf. It charges Aerth and swings its bent sword but Aerth is nimble, and rolls clear of the swing, but now finds himself locked in close combat, his bow useless here.

The other orc throw spears again, drawing them from their backs once more. Varuthil and Wern are missed, the pair of elves move with the same mind ducking the poor throws. It is poor Pipkin the gentle Hobbit that has a massive black orc bear down on him and launch its board headed spear at him. The shaft flies right at Pipkin's chest. He puts forth all his effort and dodges at the last moment, but a lock of hair is sliced from his little head and he tumbles awkwardly into the dirt wearing himself out slightly in the process.

Borir and Aerth, toe to tow with foes, while Pip, Wren and Varuthil fire....
Varuthil: Rearward: Shoot #6: Battle Die (Last Used): Gandalf Rune + 4,5,4= Success, 5 Dmg = DEAD

O10: Throw at Wren 9 vs 19 Miss
O11: Throw at Pipkin 16 vs 16 Success! 4 Endurance Loss
O12: Charge Borir (Open Stance) 15 vs 17 Miss
Rearward Stance has some strange rules, which I'll address in the OOC after this.

Orc 8,9,10,12: Healthy

Battle Die Left
