Re: Book 5: Act 1 - Those Who Tarry No Longer
I have to ask this ... is this scene ever going to end?
There doesn't seem like a way out. Everything we've tried has failed. Sitting here in a cell brooding isn't much fun.

It is.
Can you survive the hopelessness of it? Can you last long enough? We are nearing the end, but it slows down when no one posts. I man Borir is about inches from death.

Okay the plan is to head to Rhosgobel to warn Radagast?
What's your planned route? Take a look at the map, talk about it IC, plan it out, and I can do the math for journey and we'll march along.

Re: Book 5: Act 1 - Those Who Tarry No Longer
Alright, Lore Checks for Old Ford to Rhosgobel: Well Traveled TN 12
Borir: Rolled:
SAURON
Success Die: 3,6t
Totaling: 9 with 1 success = Failure + Eye Awareness
Finn Rolled:
Feat Die: 9*
Success Die:
Totaling: 9 = Fail
Pipkin: Rolled:
Feat Die: 1*
Success Die: 2,5
Totaling: 8 = Fail
Rathar: Rolled:
Feat Die: 1*
Success Die: 5
Totaling: 6 = Fail
Varuthil Rolled:
GANDALF
Success Die: 5,3,4
Totaling: 12
with 1 Auto Success = 1 Die
You will also get a Good Nights Rest in at Gelvira's place, so I'll update your Endurance. (2 + Heart).
FWIW Rathar can get himself a new Woodman's Axe once you reach the Woodman's lands.
Eye Awareness - Its very much changed now, I'm resetting it after the rest. With no Aerth or Irime, its should be much lower. Hobbit 0, Dwarf 1, Men 1 (x2), Silvan 1 = 5 + that Eye = 6
Also Varuthil and Borir's Fellowship Focus of Aerth is gone, and removed.
You need a Scout - Aerth is gone and he was your Scout. Pipkin or Finn should pick this up, since you have double Look-out Men now.

IMO, probably Pipkin should do it, as Scout is based on Explore right? I don't recall either one of Finn's or Pipkin's Explore skill, but I'm pretty sure Finn's is 0, and I also know that a good Stealth helps with being a Scout, and Pip is extraordinarily good at this.

Re: Book 5: Act 1 - Those Who Tarry No Longer
Guide - In charge of all decisions concerning route, rest, and supplies.
Scout - In charge of setting up camp, opening new trails.
Huntsman - In charge of finding food in the wild.
Look-out - Man In charge of keeping watch.
Scouts
A character acting as a Scout can be called upon to find a suitable location for setting up camp, or when a situation forces the company to abandon the road it was following to find a new one. Leaving a well-trodden path is difficult and dangerous, involving climbing up steep hills, wading wide streams or scaling doubtful paths along cliff-sides.
• A good Scout is characterised by a decent Explore skill.

Re: Book 5: Act 1 - Those Who Tarry No Longer
Journey from Old Ford to Rhosgobel
Set Route, East, then South thru Woodsman Lands
Ford to Woodland Hall 90 Miles
Woodland Hall to Woodman Town to Rhosgobel 100 Miles
Easy Terran because of the roads between places.
Speed 20 Miles a Day
Leg 1 - 5 Days 1 Fatigue Test
Leg 2 - 5 Days 1 Fatigue Test
Boarder Lands TN 14
Here we go Travel Tests
Borir 17 Success, 22t Success (And Hardy)
Finn 21t Success, 14 Success
Pipkin 11t Fail, 10 Fail (you have some random extra Song Dice, spending them to turn 1 fail into a success). +3 Fatigue
Rathar: 16 Success, Gandalf Auto Success (he's home!)
Varuthil: (1 Bonus Die on first check) 14t Success, Sauron 3 Fail + Hazard (+3 Fatigue) + Hazard + 1 Eye Awareness
Random Hazard Rolls:
Guide (Travel)
Bori: Rolled:
Feat Die: 6*
Success Die: 4,4,1
Totaling: 15 Success
Lost Direction (Guide — Weariness)
The guide has lost the path he was meant to follow and scrambles to recover the lost trail to keep heading in the right direction while traversing a trackless area.
For a short time leaving Woodman Town and traveling south west out of the forest Borir looses his direction and you travel further south and anticipate. He gets back on track after only an hour and you exit the wood just a south further south than expected. No harm done.

Remember it for next Fellowship Phase, as it won't help you to move it to Pipkin now for the purposes of refreshing Hope.

Re: Book 5: Act 1 - Those Who Tarry No Longer
Well folks, we have basically come to the end of the Chapter.
I think we can safely move into a Fellowship Phase when ready.
I will hand out XP and AP and the like after lunch. You can start looking at where you want to stay, etc.
I believe this Fellowship Phase, being its late Oct, will take us through the End of the Year, and the next Adventure Phase will be in the spring.
