Prelude: Law of Surprise

The Northern Kingdoms, Nilfgaard, the unexplored east, and the great seas of the west ... Peace was fleeting and the world was falling into despair. Kings fought wars, sorcerers dabbled in arcane powers, and witchers killed monsters for coin. Borders changed, but the hearts of men never would.

The Witcher is a RPG based on the Witcher novels, short stories, and video games. The Witcher RPG is run with the Savage Worlds system.

The witchers return, rowing the small boat along side the dock, where on the other side hosts a larger merchant vessel. They spot the captain that hired them nearby, giving orders to a few men typing the boat down.

Dariuz motions at the captain, "There he is." He stalks toward the man, "Captain..." he then tosses the bag full of drowner fins at the man's feet. "It's done. They are dead." he strides up hands folded over his chest, "Now pay up."

With a look at the drowner fins, the captain nods, "Aye, a deal's a deal, eh?"

The man reaches for a purse he has pre-filled with orens. "Here ya go," he tosses the sack over to Dariusz.

"We be casting off in the next hour, now that this has been taken care of, can I offer you a rise up river?"

Weighing the coin pouch in his hand he looks at his partner, "Seems good." Then to the boat, "Yes, we'll take that ride. We need to pick up a few supplies first, then we'll be back. Don't leave without us." Turning to his fellow Witcher he takes out a few coins, "Let's pick up a few bottles of vodka, and that bacon you wanted, for the ride."

"Should be castin' off in an hour or so, ya all have time." The captain nods, "Thanks fer taking care of that, witchers."

The captain turns and goes back to what he was doing.

"Aye, vodka, and bacon. Maybe one day they will distill a bacon flavored vodka." Crizus and Dariusz make their way back to the inn which is basically devoid of anyone save the innkeeper currently.

"Damn I hope not! That would be a sign of the true decline of this world." He heads back to the inn, and once there he buys a few bottles of vodka for the road, a bit of food as well, and pays without haggling over the price and returns to the ship for the trip across the lake.

Vodka and travel supplies are collected for a bit of coin, but nothing very costly, as the supplies are not of the greatest quality.
-20 orens for each of you
Crizus complains, "I gotta save one of these bottles for my next batch of Thunderbolt." When the witchers return to the ship, the captain waves them over. "Just so ye know, we're heading up the Yaruga to Mayena. We can put you off on shore anywhere else you might want, but the place is wild after what happened to Sodden those years ago. Lots of ... monsters."

It becomes clear now why they were offered a ride -- to help protect the ship. If the witchers were attacked, they could hardly ask for payment.

"Good enough. We will tell you were we want to get off, when we want to get off the ship." He climbs aboard and looks around at the boat. It wasn't the best, but it was certainly better than anything he could hope for leaving this port. "How long do you think that will take?"
Not sure exactly were we want off

"Just a while longer," the captain says, "I've cleared out room next to the wheelhouse on deck for your both." He shrugged at the modest accomodations, but the ride was free.
Probably Mayena and go from foot there to Verden

"Good. We will likely stay with you until Mayena." He stands on the deck, out of the way of the sailors so not to slow them down. "We are ready when you are." He hasn't had much time to ride on ships or boats of any size, this will be a new experience for the Witcher and he drinks it in.
