Interlude: Warning King Aled

In Keltia, you are one of the heroes of the Dark Ages in the time of Arthur, when Britain was still a land of legends. Take part in the great battles sung of by the bards. Travel from the court of kings to the boundaries of the Island of Beli the Great, perhaps even enter the mists of the Otherworld. Maybe you will witness the end of the time of legends and the arrival in history of the greatest hero of Britain that will ever be: Arthur Pendragon.

You may be a clan warrior, a druid, a bard or a mage. Myrddin the Elder may guide you to search for the forgotten gods, hidden treasures and conspiracies to foil, taking you to the darkest forests, the mists of enchanted isles and haunted cairns. The bards will sing of your feats for centuries to come.

Interlude: Warning King Aled

Post by TetNak » Tue Jan 26, 2016 4:36 pm

Eloquence/Charisma: 3d10k2+5 = 20 vs. 14, Success
King Aled allows Amlaib to finish. His large son is not in the room currently, and so that might help sway his judgement. "King," Aled repeats, "King you say?" He frowns deeply, but looks at Dewyr, "If I had a daughter I would require a betrothal. But I do not. I only have my sons and myself. Do you not have an aunt? She is aged, but not so aged to have dust between her thighs, yes? Is she alive and with you?"
"Kings have no friends, only subjects and enemies."

Interlude: Warning King Aled

Realizing he might be onto something, but worried about being mauled to death by his aunt, Amblaïb hesitates for a moment before speaking.

"Aye, King Aled... mine aunt survives and remains a flower in late bloom, though her milk might remain as sour as her tongue." The comment is made only partially in jest. Amblaïb had no doubt that Rhedyn could still bear children, and she remained a handsome woman... but it would take a true master of eloquence to convince her to marry,"And yet she loves her people as we all do.... a thing not lightly discounted."

"As King then, you would consent upon a marriage to bind our people. To one of my sons, then?"

Aled watches Amlaib carefully. "Do this, and my warriors are yours. A marriage is nothing to save your entire people, is it, young King?"

Whilst the back of his mind was screaming at him to discuss this with his aunt first, the things at the forefront of Amblaïb's mind... the safety of his kin throw those thoughts down to the curb and crushed their trachea with brutal efficiency. His aunt had declared him king in her haste, he might as well begin acting like it.

"Indeed" Amblaïb is almost shocked when he hears the acknowledgement which he realizes is coming frm him,"I shall pledge mine aunt to be married to thine son in exchange for an alliance between our peoples. Let the blood of the peoples of the Brigantes of Caer Myrd and Corieltauvi of Hyllr mingle and insure the safety of all our peoples for all the nights to come."

King Aled nods, "Dewyr, summon your brothers and gather the troops, quietly."

The old king looks at Amlaib, "We shall attack them from two sides. On the road, from where you've come, and from the forest itself." He pauses and pulls himself standing. "I shall send some of my men with you, but most will come from a hidden position."

"Would it not be better to draw them out to lower the chance of prisoner casualties?" Amblaïb asks curiously. He was no strategist like his brother, but seeing the almost animal like nature of the Hunt it should've been trivially easy to draw out most of them with an errant hunting party and ambush them whilst a smaller force dealt with whatever remains were in the camp and freed the prisoners.

Aled nods, "Aye, that is probably best. Dewyr and my boys can draw them into the thickest part of the forest. You and yours can come from behind and finish off and stragglers in their camp."

Nodding as his confident rises, Amblaïb prepares himself for the journey back to his companions with the armed escort.
