Interlude: Warning King Aled

In Keltia, you are one of the heroes of the Dark Ages in the time of Arthur, when Britain was still a land of legends. Take part in the great battles sung of by the bards. Travel from the court of kings to the boundaries of the Island of Beli the Great, perhaps even enter the mists of the Otherworld. Maybe you will witness the end of the time of legends and the arrival in history of the greatest hero of Britain that will ever be: Arthur Pendragon.

You may be a clan warrior, a druid, a bard or a mage. Myrddin the Elder may guide you to search for the forgotten gods, hidden treasures and conspiracies to foil, taking you to the darkest forests, the mists of enchanted isles and haunted cairns. The bards will sing of your feats for centuries to come.

Interlude: Warning King Aled

Post by TetNak » Fri Jan 08, 2016 4:27 am

Amlaib and Nuallan make their way to Caer Myrd, the fort of King Aled. They find the road and hear clearly yammering from some of the prisoners. It isn't long to their approach the outer walls of the fort. They are in poor display. Half of the walls are down, most looking to have been removed for firewood, even though there is a massive forest around them. Perhaps they did not want to thin out the surrounding area. Near what could be called a gate, which is simply an opening in the fence, are two warriors talking to the prisoners who Amlaib saw escape. He couldn't recognize them from here. Nuallan asks, "Do we just go forward? I do not hear any horses from the Wild Hunt. Perhaps they won't come?"

"We're well blessed by Rhiannon" Amblaïb smirks,"For were we not they'd be on the way and there seems little that fence could do to stop a strong blast of wind, even less so a magical army." Shrugging as he puts on the best earlish face he has and strides forwards, hailing the guards at the gate.

"Hail men of Caer Myrd. I, Amblaïb ap Eus ap Eus of the Corieltauvi greet you and request an audience with thine king."

The Corieltauvi that see Amlaib leap for joy, turning on Amlaib and cheering loudly. Amlaib recognized them. They were part of a family that worked the fields. The trio were all women. The mother, whose name escaped the prince, and her two daughters. They were very different, but Amlaib knew them both /WELL/.

The first was Gwynteth, a large breasted girl with a pox marked face. She looked dirty and drained like the rest of her family. Her younger sister, Betheth had seen sixteen summers. She was just sprouting breasts, but she was fairer to look upon than Gwynteth, but she was shy. Not shy enough to resist the prince, but shy none the less.

Nuallan grunts. The guards look very confused. "What's going on here? These woman are screaming about being take by force by some savages. Saxons is it?"

Realizing that the people before him stand as survivors of his own folk, Amblaïb embraces each of them in turn, though his embrace lingers on Beteth somewhat longer. As he finally releases the girl he smiles at the lot and turns to face the guards, his tone still somewhat elated at the discovery of the girls,"Hail good guard! As I must've mentioned afore the discovery of mine kin, there has indeed been much trouble with a force of assailants attacking our people."

Pausing for a moment Amblaïb continues in a more moderated tone,"As to the nature of these scourges, I'd prefer to reveal it to your King first in case he wishes to react in someway without... interference, so if you'd be so kind we" he includes the three women in his 'we'," request entry into your fine town and an escort to introduce us to thine King."

Interlude: Warning King Aled

The guard nods, "Very well. I will take you all to king Aled."

He was in his mid years, with a long beard. "Let's be along then." He frowns the entire way he passes through the calm, small, dirt roads of the place. There was a large garden in the middle of town, with wild flowers and other fauna. This place was like a hidden, tranquil, peace in the middle of a massive tidal wave of hell.

The king's longhall was small, well smaller than King Eus'. "Wait here," the guard asks as he takes them inside the building and into a small room. It does not take long before he returns, "This way. King Aled will see you."

As you enter the simple building, Amlaib finds himself led to a circular room with a simple chair in the middle. Seated is an old man covered in blankets. His wispy beard looks like it has half fallen out. King Aled is covered by liver spots and moles. His eyes droop and look yellow. This man was not well.

"My man says you are Amblaïb ap Eus ap Eus. Our neighbor. What say you?"

"My thanks." Amblaïb notes to the guard, guiding the women (and Nuallan) into the hamlet before taking his place at the front, mentally preparing himself for the eventual meeting with the King, going through what he'd wish to say in his mind again and again until he realises that he stands before the King.

"Greetings King Aled, I thank you for your hospitality." Inclining his head, Amblaïb looks to answering the kings questions with all due haste.

"I've come with dire news King Aled for the Wyld Hunt rides on the winds once again" Swallowing, Amblaïb realises what he has already lost as he continues,"They've already slain not only mine father, but much of the Corieltauvi, scattering many of mine people to the four winds. I come here to plead your aid and to aid you in anyway you'd wish in preparing for the no doubt soon arriving blades of the Wyld Hunt to ward thine people."

"The Wild Hunt?" King Aled asks, surprised. "They have not been seen for many long years. Certainly you are mistaken. The Saxons have come." Aled nods to the guard, "Gather my sons."

Aled looks Amlaib up and down, "Our location will protect us, young princeling, where your father's men at arms have not."

Bristling at the insult, Amblaïb looks to the King with his eyes narrowing.

"Mistaken? Can one mistake the Hunt for something as mundane as a Saxon raid? I bring heed to mine warning once more not to react to this as it were some mundane enterprise for caution in it will cost you nothing, but treating it cavalierly may cost you much."

Eloquence: 16 vs. 14, Success
King Aled nods, "Perhaps you are right." He sits there silent for a few moments, thinking. After a little while, two men walk into the room. "Father, what's this about our neighbors and the Saxons?"

The man is tall and extremely muscular. He is likely a larger fellow than even Trahaeran. That he could have come from King Aled's seed seems ridiculous. He flashes a look to Amlaib, his handsome face pursed with tension. The other man is much smaller and looks exactly like King Aled, only younger. He appears weak, and moves with a limp. The man peers at Amlaib as well, beady eyes narrowed.

"Well," the king begins, "What else do you have to say, Amlaib ap Eus?"

Swallowing again, Amblaïb looks from child to child before turning back to face the king and continuing his line of thought,"To say? Mine kin currently stand to track the Wyld Hunt, hoping against odds to release the captives, many of whom are of the Corieltauvi. I would beseech you to join your strength to ours whilst the enemy remains unknowing and the surprise stands to bolster our strength. If we use that strength with sufficient haste and canny we may well end this Hunt before its time... to all our advantage."
