Orin is a young Dwarf of unbridled ambition and a fair amount of enthusiasm. With a fleshy face and clothes that speak of wealth he is a far cry from the majority of the Adventurers that dot the WIlderland... or even his own typically spartan people, and it is not just his appearance that can throw a fair amount of people off: it is his personality.

Personable and friendly, Orin shows wisdom and experience beyond his years, but even as he embraces the people of the Dales as his kith and kin, there is a darkness to him. It lingers in his eyes at times even when he is at his happiest, and even as he toasts his loyal companions bravery.

Biography:
Orin son of Orin was born on the road between the Dales and the Blue Mountains, far from the cavernous halls of his people, and even further from the legacy of the line of Durin. His father, once a famed smith known for his artistry with steel and mithril alike had lost everything when Smaug took the Lonely Mountain, forcing the once proud Dwarf to make his living as a journeying blacksmith, selling his wares in places like Bree and Laketown.

It was into this world that Orin was born... a world where his people were little more than wandering vagabonds. His mother died young in a goblin raid near the Misty Mountains, leaving the two Orin's to wander the world of Men by their lonesome, and Orin soon grew into manhood surrounded by more Men than his own kin, in the process growing closer to them in both manner and the way he dressed. Still... his foremost teacher and parent was his father, who taught him the art of smithing steel into fearsome blades of war, and axes that could be used to fight the forces of the Enemy.

Orin the Younger however was a warmer spirit. Gold to his father's iron... fire to his ice; and having seen the wealth that even lesser Mannish craftsmen could make with silver and gold longed to learn their art, and oft clashed with his father on if they should keep to the road or head for the Blue Mountains where Orin could learn the finer arts.

The struggle never went anywhere however, as news that Thorin Oakenshield had assembled a company and retaken the Lonely Mountain spurred the father and son alike to return to the home they never had. Orin the Elder, already well-past his middle-years when Smaug had arrived did not survive the journey however, dying only leagues from his home, bidding for his son to retake their rightful place. With bitter tears in his eyes, Orin swore to make their houses name shine again.

What Orin found upon entry into the now ruined kingdom under the mountain was not the wealth and respect he and his father had lived for. Dain Ironfoot was now King, and there were many open hands after the treasure that Smaug had taken. Orin was unable to convince King Dain to part with any part of the treasure, but for the memory of his father the King gifted him a solid gold coin of the olden days to Orin, a coin he keeps to this day as his 'lucky coin'.

The past years have seen Orin fully embracing his talents as a jewelry smith, but the results have not been as glamorous as he might've expected, with the blasted Dales needing steel over fineries. As such he has come up with a canny plan of forging as much Dwarven steel into weapons as he is able, and taking to the roads again to sell to the war-forged peoples of the Dales in search of the fortune he promised his father he would attain...

Orin is currently on the look out near Erebor for skilled guards and other of use to escort him in his travels.
