Bog Beast - Round 4

Post by Vardaen » Mon Mar 06, 2017 8:11 pm

Torwald's watch was at an end almost when the bog beast arrived, he considers what Dobin says about it and nods in agreement. "Can't be many dangers lurking about with that, but it might return on its own. I think its someone else's watch now." He adds two logs to the fire, curls up in his bed roll and is sleeping soundly until dawn.

Bog Beast - Round 4

Coming out of his brooding, Eofor says to Doneril "Thank you Doneril, my watch was to begin when we were attacked." he shudders at the thought of the bog coming alive with tentacles "at least wake me after two hours and I will finish the night's watch."

Orin grunts and takes to rest as well, figuring if the Elf wanted to not do so he might as well take the opportunity to rest his weary legs and eyes for a bit.

Act 1: The Bloody Camp

Post by silverfoxdmt73 » Thu Mar 09, 2017 12:52 pm

Despite the night-time exertions, when dawn breaks there is a renewed sense of inspiration about the group. The fog that so often has blighted the journey through the Long Marshes is nowhere as bad as usual, with the morning sun seemingly strong enough to burn it off far more quickly.

Everyone is rested, though Dobbin still feels the fatigue of following the tracks over the last few days. The trail is picked up far quicker than the day before and after a decent breakfast the party of heroes are moving fairly quickly.
Dobbin still has 1 level of Exhaustion, but also has gained Inspiration due to his role in seeing off the bog beast last night.

Act 1: The Bloody Camp

Post by Olligarchy » Mon Mar 13, 2017 9:12 am

Orin begins whistling a merry tune as the path becomes easier to traverse once more, a tune which slowly turns into a quiet song he'd heard in his youth.

"Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains of the moon.

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known."

Dobbin plods along with the others, thankful for Torwald's path-finding skills because no matter how many times he knuckles his eyes, the sleep still tries to cling to his tired, little frame.

Then Orin's song touches his ears and the hobbit feels a little less miserable, although perhaps even more longing for "home afar" and "meadows green," which seem harder to remember or imagine the longer they wander in these Long Marshes...

Still, the diminutive Wanderer does his best to play his part and watch for signs of their trail and the Men they pursue.

Dolenril seems to have rested well despite keeping watch through the night. His spirits rise a bit with the lifting of the fog. When the dwarf begins his song, the elf hums a counter melody that adds a strange but somehow fitting harmony to Orin's deep baritone.

Torwald is the spoil sport, "Shhh, not to loud or you might give our position away. Voices carry in these lands, and our enemy could ambush us at at time." He's not much for lifting spirits obviously as he swings around a hillock and points out a path helping Dobbin, "What about this here?" They confer and he keeps moving.
