Chapter 1: Station

Post by Vardaen » Fri Mar 23, 2018 2:14 pm

"Well! Its quit here, too darn quit if you ask me!" Quig is anything but quit. He taps a few buttons on his sleeve and Scout, his drone, zips off into the air up over the pool and the plants, dipping this way and that way to avoid vines and tall plants and other bits and pieces. The rat-man is twitchy, he taps the view screen on his visor a few time looking though Scout's optical device. "Hmmm mmmm, hmmmm...."
Let's scout it out!

Iseph stands on-guard as Quig sends his drone to scout the area. Looking at the uncontrolled growth of the surrounding flora, "No one can argue the effectiveness of dead bodies as fertilizer."

"Death feeds life, every grave a garden. As with the spiral, everything comes around again."

Keskodai's tone is chipper, though he looks arpund warily, his hand never far from his weapon.

The ysoki sends the twitchy drone over the edge of the platform, it's rotors buzzing loudly. After a few moments, a high-pitched voice shouts out in alarm, and a half-dozen laser blasts cut through the air from down below. Scout zooms back, miraculously preserved from harm. Two dumb-looking humans stand free of the depths of the foliage, looking around for the spying drone. A third figure walks free of the vat garden. While at one time the being might have bothered with a disguise, but now that she isn't in public, her disguise has been ditched.
Image
The creature hisses as it looks around for the intruders, a laser pistol in one hand, and her jaw hanging open, with a disturbingly long tongue, and a constant stream of thick drool falling to the ground. Her intelligent eyes look upward and lock on the group.

... they can't hit the broad side of a barn. Nobody could hit Scout. All the PCs can go.

You are standing on a raised platform around the Vat Garden. There are 4 stairways/ladders, at each cardinal coordinate. Or one could drop down with an Athletics check (to avoid damage / land on your feet). There is a lot of foliage on the ground, so they have Concealment (20% miss chance) against your ranged attacks from above. Attacks on the ground, or melee, do not have that miss chance.

The sound that escapes Keskodai's mouth - hiss, growl, and shriek all on one - needs no translation. He whirls his staff to point at the ghoul, his holy symbol faintly pulsing.

"Scout!" Quig screams and pulls Scout back to join him. The drone bobs and weaves this way and that avoiding the lasfire. The drone has a gun on it, but the rat man doesn't dare risk it just yet. So Scout hovers over his head for the moment, a bit out of view. Then Quiq draws his TSAP, his tactical semi-auto pistol and moves up to the railing. Aiming over the rail, he looks at the long tongued thing, "Oh what in the Nine Rings of Lutar is that thing?" He points and fires, hoping to shoot it in the face. A spray of bullets races into the air.
Move/Draw, Shoot that thing! use the higher ground and railing for cover against counter fire, keep Scout of it for now.

Iseph has a thought to hurdle the railing and engage them in melee but holds off for the time being as their group holds the higher ground. He instead opts for a more shock and awe approach. Removing one of the frag grenades from a clip on his armor, he pulls the pin and tosses it toward the feet of the hideous looking creature.
Move: Draw Frag Grenade
Standard: Throw at Eoxian Ghoul

Chapter 1: Station

The Shirren priest hisses in righteous anger, and calls forth his magical might to collapse the mind of the Eoxian. But to his surprise, his mental thrust washes over the ghoul, it's corrupt form ignoring the attack. He recoils in disgust, feeling similar to his goddess, Pharasma, who decries the undead as a perversion of the natural order of the soul.

"Oh what in the Nine Rings of Lutar is that thing?" Quig cries out in a mixture of disbelief and anger, while Scout zooms behind him. He lays down a burst of bullet fire, hammering deep into the ghoul.

To finish off their response, Iseph pulls the pin on one of his grenades, and lobs it over the railing. "Burn in the hells, monster!" The Operative is good at what he does. The Eoxian and her mooks see the grenade coming, and dodge for cover. But the Android already calculated that logical response, and the frag grenade makes a long arc, and lands directly at their feet. *BOOM!!!* Blood splatters the area, shredding foliage and flesh alike. The humans cry out in pain, but the Eoxian just shakes in anger.

Laser pistol shots aim for the Operative, in revenge for the grenade. Fire burns against his shields, but so far they manage to barely hold the laser fire from his flesh. The ghoul stays in the vat garden, while the two mercenaries rush for the nearest ladder and climbing quickly to attack the group.
Keshodai - Mind Thrust: "This spell deals 2d10 damage (Will DC 15 half) to one creature with an Intelligence score."
- Ghoul: Undead immunities! Your character has now discovered that any mind-affecting spell does not affect the undead. One more reason to hate Eoxians.

Quig - Semi-Auto Pistol: 1d20+2 Attack, 1d6 P.
- 13+2 = 15 (vs KAC 12), Hit! 5 Piercing damage. (Rolled Concealment - still hit!)

Iseph - Frag Grenade I: 1d20-3 Attack. Explode, 15 feet, 1d6 P, DC 10.
- Nat 20!
Critical Hits
When you make an attack roll and get a natural 20 (the d20 comes up 20), you hit regardless of your target’s AC. If the total result of your attack roll meets or exceeds the target’s EAC or KAC (as appropriate for your attack), you’ve also scored a critical hit. You roll your damage twice, each time with all your usual bonuses and including any additional damage from special abilities, and then add the rolls together. Some weapons inflict a special effect on a target of a critical hit, in addition to dealing double damage (see page 182). If the total result of your attack is less than your target’s relevant AC, your attack still hits on a natural 20, but it deals damage normally.
- So hits, and double damage. 2+3 = 5 damage (to ALL enemies).

Exegara and Mooks shoot at Iseph (revenge for the grenade!)
- Exegara = Laser Pistol +6. 20, hits Iseph. 1d4+1 Fire. 1+1 = 2 Fire to Iseph.
- Mercenary 1 = Laser Pistol +0. 7, miss.
- Mercenary 2 = Laser Pistol +0. 14, BARELY hit. Would have missed if it was a standard gun. 1d4 Fire = 2 Fire to Iseph.

Status:
Exegara: -10
Mercenary 1: -5
Mercenary 2: -5

Iseph: Shield 2/6, Hit Points 10/10

Watching as the mercs come up the ladders to the level of the party, Quig turns from shooting the Exegara to one of them. "Easy as shooting Paldorian Razorfish in a Plastcret Container!" He unloads another barrage of bullets at the lead Merc.
Shoot the merc again, move if I have to get into line of fire on him better. But stay off the front line.

The abomination must be our priority.

Moving toward the ladder, Keskodai sees the goons moving upward. His mandibles press together in frustration, and he instead leaps over the railing, caution apparently a non-factor.
I assume that "doing my best not to fall on my thorax" will take up my action.
