Then Keskodai steps in. The peaceful mystic is more at home taking care of his spawn, healing wounds, and providing spiritual guidance. He has fought minimally, generally playing the support. But now he steps forward and channels divine energy throughout the corridor. A white light builds around his staff, until it erupts throughout everything you can see. The effect is instantaneous. All but one of the skeletons is immediately reduced to dust, their threat forever eliminated. The surviving crew swarm the last - the one with the missing arm - beating it until it cracks. For the moment everything is silent, the threat eliminated.

Re: Chapter 2: Endless Thredony
Quig and Scout jump into the fray, firing into the backs of the skeletons. Scout's shots are more nuisance than threat, but he distracts the creatures from their tasty prey. Quig's laser pistol sheers off the forearm of the one of the creatures, causing it to drop the hammer it was using. It continues flailing with its arm bones, still fighting hard. Jalesh comes around the corner, firing from the hip and damaging another bone monster.

Placing two fingers against the cradle-jar, Keskodai receives a larval dap from Chk-Chk.

Re: Chapter 2: Endless Thredony
Quig looks over at Keskodai "Ooo, nice-nice, good one!" He motions scout into the ship, and then races up to the captain. "Big scary bone monster chasing us. Go-go, get ship moving." He turns to the others, "No chit-chat! Big bone monster chasing us! We go now-now!" Quig then grabs any wounded crew member and helps them on board lingering near the airlock or the hatch for the moment until everyone is on board.

Jalesh nods at Keskodai greatly approving of the massive damage that he managed to land on the undead creature, without missing a beat Jalesh leaps from cover and heads towards the ship.

Re: Chapter 2: Endless Thredony
"Move, move move!" Barkley drags a wounded crewman back into the ship, while the others evacuate as well. The dead are dragged aboard, as no one wishes to leave a corpse in the hands of the Eoxians. The idea of being dragged back from the dead to serve unholy ends is abhorrent to just about every living creature.
Jalesh moves to the pilot seat, while the rest move to their stations, or cover for the fallen. In a few short minutes the Loreseeker went from being overstaffed, to functionally operating with a skeleton crew. After more heal perhaps it will be better, but currently the main stations are manned, with no extra reserves. With a push of a lever the docking clamps disengage and withdraw into the ship, and the hatch begins to close. Quig is already hip-deep in the engine room, so only Keskodai is left to watch as they pull away from the Endless Thredony. He alone sees the Undead Champion stand at the now-emptied porthole, staring intently at the retreating vessel. His weapons still glow in his hands, impotent to attack such a distant target. The last thing that is seen is the Champion turning and ... sinking his hands into the hull of the ship, submerging them into a solid bulkhead.
The Comms station lights up with a blinking red light and an alarm. The woman crewing the station analyzes the source of the alert, and looks up with concern. "Sirs! Priority distress signal emitting from the Eoxian ship. Every undead within range will come swarming soon."

Upon hearing the message Jalesh pushes the Loreseeker trying his best to put as much ground as possible between them and the Thredony as quickly as possible.

"We need more crew! We need more power!"
Quig gives the engine all he can to give the pilots as much juice and power as possible to get the hell out of here.

Keskodai's antennae twitch with suppressed rage. To allow these abominations to continue offends the Mother of Graves, but he doubts they can outgun a small fleet. He moves to a safe space out of the way, so that the crew will not be hindered by his presence.

Re: Chapter 2: Endless Thredony
Quig literally climbs under and over sections of the interstellar engine, maintaining systems that can't even be reached by humans without an overhaul at a starport. With Jalesh redlining the accelerator the fuel feedlines start leaking, but with quick thinking and technical ingenuity the Loreseeker is pushed past its design specifications, likely setting an acceleration record for this class of ship.
The crew that notice give Keskodai a wide berth. The often philosophical and friendly cleric, with his patient fatherhood and kind words, is usually someone the crew want to spend time with. Seeing him enraged is totally foreign, and frightening. Even with him suppressing his anger, a palpable aura of the Mother of Graves surrounds him, and the human crew is more than happy to find somewhere else to be.
Once they get clear, Jalesh begins the activation sequence for the Drift engines. Sensor ghosts give hints that more of the Corpse Fleet is on its way. Something else disturbing seems to be occurring as well - the crippled Endless Thredony is repairing itself. Bone lengthens and splits to recreate structural supports, and the dead engines are starting to show signs of activity. This new auto-repair isn't something that anyone here has seen or even heard of before. It didn't activate when the ship was damaged beyond functionality, or even when boarded. It only appeared after the secret Eoxian data was stolen and this strange Champion awoke. What it portends it unknown, but it is unlikely to be good.
With one last adjustment of the controls, the Loreseeker disappears from realspace, and enters the Drift.
